Greetings!
I see you're preparing for your next foray into the wilderness of Minecraft. Before you do however, take a look around this fine thread, you may decide to equip yourself with this new resourcepack. The world outside is a dangerous place, why not change your view on it? Replace your old bow with a matchlock, grab your Steam-compass and set off into a brand new world!
This is Steamy, a Steampunk resourcepack set in an alternate late renaissance. This pack is focused towards exploration, so my textures are designed to make exploring rewarding. It is also focused somewhat towards creative mode. The version of Steampunk I am expressing is supposed to be fairly small-scale. This pack is heavily influenced by the game ’Rise of Legends’, this game being my favourite and the catalyst for my interest in Steampunk.
I have been working on this texture pack for about a year and a half.
This pack features animations, sounds and textures many of which cannot work without MC Patcher

Lore
Hell, as it turned out, was quite profitable.
During that great age of exploration, it seemed nothing a human could imagine did not exist beyond the knowledge of the time. A great many wonders had been discovered and documented by the alchemists; both of that title by degree or by hobby. The wonders of the long-life gas lamp, the power of the compact furnace and other marvels of the age are attributed to these gentler fellows of discovery. Of course; as more and more was found so the momentum of the movement increased, until, by the end of the second decade of revolution rumours started circling of an alchemist like no other.
He was brilliant they said; discovered no less than eight unique potions, but quite unpredictable and unsocial, and so resided in a gloomy basement of a wealthy baron’s estate. The public met this figure with the enlightened sense of sympathy and even admiration, the man achieving the incredible despite his predicament. As rumours go it was quite believable- the baron in question was no socialite himself and so was rarely seen. All these circulating stories came to an end about 4 months after they began.By then the mad alchemist was big news and was well known thought the land. During a cold, still night; when everyone was indoors huddled around fireplaces and steam-heaters, a terrifying scream was heard. It was traced as coming from below the baron’s estate, much to the public’s delight and fascination.
A few guards on patrol entered the basement early the next day bringing the baron with them. The baron himself claimed to have heard nothing but commented he did have a guest residing downstairs. Upon the descent the guards saw masses of laboratory equipment, but the bulk of the large stone room was taken up by a menacing dark stone doorway. It was riddled with wires and pipes as if to contain the ancient and cold stone within in the warm embrace of technology. This unholy marriage bore a child too; for there, within the doorframe a ghastly red portal swayed and reverberated as unnatural as a ghost. The screamer was never found intact, and the portal was left uncheck until the next week, when a team of brave conquistadors stepped up to venture into the unknown. A large crowd of dignified individuals gathered in the damp chamber for the seeing off ceremony. As the final words were exchanged the adventures stepped boldly into the seething red door. They returned with stories of hell; a place no one could possibly survive for a time at all. They claimed to have survived for months on end but were gone for a mere week in our time frame. The tales they brought back terrified and shocked the people of the towns they were told in.
Nevertheless, one of the adventures shook some of the red dust on his boots off into his fire, and the riches of hell were discovered - the crushed red crystal burned with a rigor as of yet unknown and continued to do so for abstract lengths of time. This new crystal dubbed “Netherrack “started a new flurry of activity into the exploration of hell and it’s treasures.
Expeditions were known to set out with hundreds of men, shipping tonnes of materials into huge portals for months on end. The most successful company in this endeavour was “NETHER-REACHER” which itself lent its name to the new realm. They constructed massive fortresses of iron to hold workers and mining equipment. However; they were plagued with attacks from the horrific inhabitants of the world they plundered and eventually had to abandon their rigs.Nowadays; the nether is only rarely explored by small groups looking to make large profits. While Netherrack itself is in low demand, due to its never needing replacing, fragile glowstone, and netherwart is hard to come by and is sorely sought after by alchemists and builders alike. It still takes a brave soul to explore the forgotten land of the nether however, where it is said the twisted soul of the original alchemist still seeks to have his name forgotten; the name of Victor Whither.

My good friend and I currently runs a Steampunk themed Roleplay server called "CorsiaCraft". The server uses this texturepack as default, so if you like Steampunk or even just a playing on a server, why not check it out? MC Forum link Our own Forum link
As any connoisseur of textures knows, Glimmar’s Steampunk is the go to pack for Steampunk. However since the start there have been people asking him to make a 16x version of his famous pack. He has always declined, so there are no other 16x Steampunk packs around as far as I know. This is not meant to be a scaled down version of Glimmars. This is a different take on Steampunk than his.If your computer can handle high resolutions textures, if you want to see more, if you like higher resolutions, or if you prefer Victorian steampunk than please go see Glimmar’s pack! It's amazing!
Great! I've been following this since almost the first thread, and I can say I'm very pleased with the final release! Good job, congratulations, and Happy New Year.
The pack looks nice, but the dl link isn't working for me.
Oh dear! I'm very sorry about this, my browser has been royally mucking up my thread everytime I edit it. I had a frustrating half hour after I first posted this fixing weird formatting issues.
I'm not sure what the problem is, but everytime I go to edit anything now, if I use the quick editer, it replaces all my formatting with <style sheets> and if I edit with the full editor it removes all spaces and line breaks everytime.
So I'm trying to avoid editing the thread for now, I've fixed the download link (I hope) but a few spaces are missing (like after 'Greetings') thanks for pointing it out though
I love it! It reminds me of Final Fantasy V (or III depending on where you played it first). A beautiful slice of 16x heaven.
I never actually played any Final Fantasy, but I have been intrigued by screenshots of it that I've seen. By my experience, many Japanese animes and games use elements of Steampunk, Howl's Moving Castle being the one I think of first. Thanks for the support.
I really like it, but I'm just not getting that steampunk theme you're trying to portray.
Well, I guess that would change if you downloaded the pack (now that the link is fixed ). It is true that creating a theme is tough, and I do so through animations and block design. I guess it's hard to see that in the images I posted.
Another issue maybe is that my pack is not designed as traditional Victorian era steampunk, but late renaissance era. This may be outside the strictest definitions of steampunk to some, but steampunk as I see it is; an alternate past where steam power rose to prominence instead of internal combustion. As such I've even worked on some designs for ancient Roman steampunk, with steam chariots and centurions armed with muskets .
So to me steampunk is not something to be rigidly defined as 'Victorian era science-fiction', and I believe that my pack adequately shows my vision as I created it.
I been waiting for this texpack for a LONG time and I am FINALLY glad it's out! Just one problem: It seems your Mediafire link is fudged up, it doesn't have the full URL.
Thanks so much! Please enjoy it now that I've fixed the link

Thank you so much, and a happy new year to you too!
Once again, sorry about the failed link, it should all be fixed now, and if it isn't here's a backup link:
Oooo! I've been away and so much seems to have happened with 'Steamy'! Wow! This thread looks awesome. Love the animated title plate at the top.
I am looking forward to giving your resource pack a whirl, mate!
A belated Happy New Year to you, and all here, and hope you had a good Christmas too.
I've a lot of MC catching up to do and not a lot of time in which to do it, so I'll be back as soon as I can.
Thanks very much Glimmar, and thanks for having a look
It's a good thing the next MC update to come out so far only adds two new textures, so at least there's no scramble to update your pack!
Honestly the wool is a bit meh, the colors are too bright and neon and the texture is too smooth, the wool blocks don't really look like they fit with the rest of the pack.

The problem with the truth, is that it never lies.

Ah ha! I was waiting for someone else to notice that
It was a mistake that I accidentally included. I'll have it fixed in the next update. It was when I was making the stained clay, I thought; "hey, if the stained clay is a dull colour, why not make the wool a bright colour?" It didn't work out but I somehow forgot to fix it before I released this version.
Thanks for noticing
Can you try making the tallgrass blend in a bit more with the grass blocks? Other than that, this actually looks good.
Thanks for having a look
By blending in, do you mean the colour of the grass or the shape/size? If you're talking about the colour, I deliberately made it brighter than the grass blocks in order to simulate the real-life effects of having blades of grass sticking out from dark ground. I understand its an unusual choice, but not all texturepacks need to be the same
It would be stupid of me to ignore your advice however, so I'll work on damping the contrast between the grasses for the next update. Thanks again for helping me out
How odd! Have you used mediafire before, or has it always given you this message? I seem to be having a tough time getting the download to work

I think having the tall grass look brighter could look nice, but it contrasts a little too much. So I think lowering the contrast between the two would make it look a lot better.

As regards the 1.8 update, lol, I bet it won't be long before Mojang starts throwing in all sorts of extra textures! Aargh! Run for the hills!

Don't go to any lengths
I'm still scratching my head about the bouncy block. I was thinking bellows or a trampoline, but what to do with the partial transparency and the two layers! Argh!
I seem to spend most of my time in those hills

What the heck is the 'bouncy block'? I'm assuming this is a new 1.8 block? I need to put it on public record that my brain is still officially hibernating for 2014, so if I have to think of what to do for a bouncy block, folks'll be waiting a long time for an idea!
