center]"Sanity" Christmas Pack Updated! More Ornaments!
It may not be the update you asked for on your Christmas wishlist, but you have to admit that it's still better than getting socks.
As promised, all of the dyes are now single-color ornaments of some description. Mostly just the cliche shiny spheres with which to decorate things. I also made Ghast Tears into icicles, though, since I know those are really popular these days. I hope you all enjoy these additions.
Sadly it doesn't look like I'll be getting this finished before Christmas on account of that event only being a week away now. There was a series of family crises over the last couple of weeks that prevented me from working on it... or at least being in any sort of mood to do anything artistic. It's all settle for the moment, though, so I'm going to try to get an update done for this every day or so even if it's just something minor. That'll leave plenty of room for me to pick this up again next year, though, for anyone that'll still be playing Minecraft in 2016.
Feedback is GREATLY appreciated, and would really help to lift my low spirits this Christmas season. Thank you!

I love it! However, the shape of the purple ornament all the way to the right looks kind of weird, and I'm not sure what it's supposed to be.
"Sanity" Christmas Pack Updated! Happy Christmas Eve Day Minecraft Forum!
Festive Sweaters for Everyone!
Sadly this will probably be the last update for the Christmas pack this year. I've only gotten about half my ideas for this thing finished, but stuff kept coming up that prevented me from having the time to work on it. Hopefully a few of you are enjoying it none the less.
So this time I put a wolf and a snow golem in festive sweaters. Why? Because I could. Oh, and the wolf sweater is dye-able. No guarantees it'll look good in every color since, well, I don't get to choose what colors are displayed. Stupid hard-coding.
I also made pumpkins red and turned jack-o-lanterns into regular pumpkins with flickering lights on them. They look quite nice if I do say so myself.
As always, feedback and critiques make my Christmas season bright! So don't hesitate to leave a few, OK? It's one of the best gifts you can give me for Christmas, and it doesn't cost you anything but a little bit of time.
I love it! However, the shape of the purple ornament all the way to the right looks kind of weird, and I'm not sure what it's supposed to be.
So, I was kind of going for This sort of a shape, but with a much broader top to make it stand out more. I've seen a few of that type of ornament over the years, but for the life of me I can't find a picture of them on the internet. I'm not sure why I decided to do that with the purple one. I think my original thought was because there's already a purple ball ornament with the ender pearl... but then I made the green and red dye ornaments into spheres so I'm not sure.
Any suggestions on what I should do to make it better?
Thank you for the feedback Angelo! I appreciate it!
Hey, even if you didn't get all your ideas into the pack, even a little holiday flair can change the entire atmosphere! What is in the pack is certainly festive, and I've gotta say, the lights on the Jack o' Lanterns are pretty snazzy, and the sweaters are perfect for those two mobs!
The Wither is interesting, too. Still menacing and powerful-looking, but with a festive flair. I feel like you mentioned making the obsidian white, but I can't remember now. Looks nice in the Nether, though. The message on the pumpkin blur is a nice touch, too!
I don't know what could be causing this, but for some reason Birch Planks and derivative items show up in the inventory as completely invisible, and when placed have an older texture, but this only happens when I have the Christmas pack by itself. I noticed an invisible Birch texture in the files, but where the texture is coming from when they're placed is beyond me.
And yes, while I did look at the files to see what changed, I also went in-game to see how they turned out.

Thanks! I'm happy to hear that you like them. I certainly thought it was a fun addition.

The Wither is one of the things that I did last year. I decided that it should be changed to go with the gold Nether Star. The white Obsidian is also from my first run at this from last year. I'm eventually going to do a nether portal animation to go along with it, though admittedly haven't had time. I'm also super pleased that someone noticed the pumpkin overlay. It's so rarely seen I thought it would be a while before it was discovered.

Woops! That's a problem with how I did the item frame ornament hooks. Effectively I was trying to fake the item frame out to be transparent because it's an entity and thus I thought there wasn't a block model for it. Turns out there is, and I just never remembered to correct that oversight since the main pack's models took care of the incompatibility.
I'll fix it shortly. It's not a big deal... but I like to have my ducks in a row.
Woops! Thanks for pointing that out! It was correct originally, but in 1.8 they changed how models worked with transparency and, well, they stopped looking correct. I'm surprised it took until now for someone to notice and bring this to my attention. Just shows how few people use cauldrons, no?
It is now fixed in the current version. If this is an issue for you, please re-download the pack.
Let me know if there's anything else that you find that looks wrong. I'll happily work on getting it set right!

you have plan to fix weird horizon 3d grass layers
If you're talking about how mipmapping affects them I finally figured out a solution to that nonsense a couple of days ago. It'll be in the next version whenever I have the opportunity to finish working on and release one.
i am having a problem with the shield. it overlaps with the armor, creating a glitchy effect when you hold the shield while wearing iron armor
I'll look into it. I have a feeling I know what the problem is. Will you please post a screenshot just so that I can be sure we're thinking of the same thing?

here
i see about the redstone
it just startled me when it did that, the animation on it looks very nice even when not lit up when u look at it
Yup. That's what I thought you meant. Thank you SO MUCH for bringing that to my attention. I probably never would have thought about if the shield and armor were z-fighting. I so rarely use iron/chain armor, rarely use a shield (I'm still not used to them) and even more seldom look at myself in third person while using both!
This will be fixed in the next version. I'm hoping to have one out by the end of the week, but who knows if that's possible. It'll depend on how eager I am to work on the stinking Chorus Plants. Hint: Not very.

Yea, Sanity has a lot of odd little conceits like that. It's what sets it apart from other packs, I think. Hopefully you enjoy these little features and artistic additions.

np, just doing my duty. im not used to the shield yet either but it feels really good to see the arrows from those damn skelies bounce off, before they usually got a hit on me.
looking forward to it
i noticed the redstone theme. everything that has something to do with redstone has a redstoney effect.
it looks great, especially on the button. easier to tell when that lever is on now too.
Definitely took me a while to get used to it, but it's not like it wasn't worth it! My addiction to realistic textures finally stopped. Greatest resource pack I've seen in a while, thank you for making it!
I'll try to have the new version up in the next few days. It will include lots of new textures and fixes and features and so forth. Great fun all around!
Feedback on this preview, and on the pack as a whole, is greatly appreciated.
You'd be surprised how few people consider this their duty. I've found long-standing problems in the pack that have probably been in there for months without anyone saying anything. I'm glad you consider this your duty, and wish more people would tell me when there are problems with the things that I make. Thank you!

you did a small Cauldron texture mistake
Woops! Thanks for pointing that out! It was correct originally, but in 1.8 they changed how models worked with transparency and, well, they stopped looking correct. I'm surprised it took until now for someone to notice and bring this to my attention. Just shows how few people use cauldrons, no?

I'm loving the new Christmas content, I set the wolf with sweater as the default texture even when I'm not using the Christmas addon. Great work!
Hmm...now that you mention it, I might be inclined to do something like that, too!
Also, your avatar is pretty nice. Bionicle for the win!
