Hello, I love this texture pack, and so I downloaded JSTR for my modded world to see if any of the mods had support (surprisingly, all of them except Mr. Crayfish's furniture did and I'm literally only using it to make TreeCapitator work... for some strange reason Mr. Crayfish's seems to make it work).
Anyways, I downloaded the master pack for the sake of time and loaded Minecraft. It wasn't in my texture pack list, so I looked into it and I had to copy-paste a pack.mcmeta from the John Smith vanilla pack, then unzip all the files and rezip them. I had no issue with the pack.mcmeta, but my computer is pretty old, and... Well... it took half an hour to get about 5 or 6 files unzipped. xD
I would like permission to put the pack with just the textures for the modpack on the forum page mainly for simplicity. (*DISCLAIMER: I WILL NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THE WORK! I WILL LINK TO THIS FORUM PAGE AND THE WEBSITE AND GIVE CREDIT TO ALL INVOLVED!*) It's a very small modpack (I've added mods and I still only have 17). I will not use it to make money (It'll be a Mediafire/Dropbox direct download).

Thank you for taking the time to read this!
You can share it with friends but distributing it would confuse new people using the Technicians Remix pack, so I would have to say no to hosting your own version on the forum, I hope you understand the reason.
On another note I've updated the vanilla pack to the latest snapshots.
John Smith Legacy 1.9 15w34b and John Smith Legacy JSC 15w34b
They contain all the new snapshot textures like the Shield, Command Blocks, Dragons Breath, Beetroot, Beetroot Soup, Chorus Plants, Chorus Seeds, Purpur Blocks, Shulker, End Bricks, Grass Paths, all the new arrows and all the GUI's that have changed,
I even had some time to texture the Magma Cube and an animated Jukebox with spinning record.

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area to post this, but I thought I'd give it a shot either way.
Would anyone be able to extend the amount of villager skins for randomobs? I love the villagers ingame already but I'd also love a little more variety so that roleplaying is a bit easier. Maybe some variants of the others with a few extras dotted in there like King and Queen skins? Of course this would be placed in the addon packs to make things easier.
Also, is there a customizer that easily allows for the swapping out of textures so that we aren't forced to continuously manually tweak them? This is especially difficult when workin gwith stone textures.
Minecraft 1.9 is supposed to add entities to the random textures (1.8 added them to items and blocks), then I could add extra textures and random textures for each profession.
It's not been added in the current snapshots but the wiki does list it for 1.9 so it may be added sooner rather than later.
Due to the way blockstates, models and the textures all go together a customizer is a large undertaking and wont be made any time soon, the alternative textures are on the main site (near the bottom) so you can move them around yourself.
As all the textures are just separate image file, it's just a case of copying files about, you would have to adjusts the corresponding blockstates and models if they contain random textures, not too hard but don't forget to keep an eye on the log in the launcher as texture errors in the resource pack are shown there.
can some one help me figure out how to get the reed texture i have put in the pack to show up? i switched out the original for the alternate and i can not seem to use the texture even tho it should be the one being used i instead get the original. and altho its not too much of a big deal im wondering how i can fix it as im curious
btw can someone tell me how i can make the fertile farmland darker? its kinda not dark enough for me XD again not a major issue XD just curious
oh and where can i get the banner for this texture pack to put in my signature
These are for the vertical CTM (Connected Texture Mod).
As for the fertile farmland, there are two textures that are a different darknesses depending if the farmland is hydrated or not, you could darken these in an art package, not too difficult to do.
Just updated to Buildcraft 7.1.5 and the JS textures reverted to vanilla... I suspect the asset directory got reshuffled again. I will take a look to confirm.

These textures are great, however, the 32x version does not appeal to me whatsoever.
I am currently playing FTB Infinity 1.11.2 for Minecraft 1.7.10.
The 32x version is fully compatible with this mod to my knowledge.
I would however be completely thrilled to see the 64x version (or higher) work with this.
If this is already the case, then I would appreciate a guide on how to apply it (direct links etc).
I actually tried downloading the 64x legacy version but could not find a 64x for the technicians remix,
which is the version that makes it compatible with FTB etc if I am not retarded?
Thanks in advance!
For the past year I've been hard at work on the 64x version of John Smith, slowly the pack is starting to come together and I'm planning on posting it towards the end of this month. It won't be 100% finished but it should be really close. Then once the vanilla pack is finished I plan to start working on textures for some basic but popular mods, but until then you'll have to use the 32x JSTR pack or find another pack that suits you better for modded Minecraft.
I've been releasing Snapshot packs each week and have also just updated the 1.8.8 packs too, with all the texture changes I've been adding to the snapshots.
Things like the Endercrystal, Guardian and a Skeletal Horse!
Unicode fonts for European languages have also been added, so if you play in German, Spanish, Polish and many more languages then this will help you.
I've also just added a new Enchanting Table font, animated Lava and Water Buckets, plus lots of quality edits to make the packs more consistent.
Just wanted to say... Thanks for pushing through the 64x version. The JS Legacy is my GO-TO resource pack most of the time... and even when its not my main resource pack, the technicians remix pack seems to ALWAYS be in my resource folder so that my mods don't look like total garbage when playing with a nice resource pack. its one of the only resource pack that has a decent amount of work put into what I consider popular building block style mods.
Hi, First of all, Awesome texture pack, I'm loving it!:D
But, I have an issue. I'm playing the Regrowth mod pack with this texture pack. But some of the writings in the Thaumonomicon, Lexica Botania and other books are near impossible to read. I added Optifine to the pack so I can turn the custom fonts off but it had no effect. How can I change it, turn it back to normal minecraft fonts while keeping the rest of the texture pack?
If it helps, I downloaded the texture pack through the FTB launcher and the mod pack is up to date.
I just use the font files from Faithful 32, but you have to make your own texture pack from those and run it on top of John Smith. There may be other ways to disable the fonts in John Smith, that I don't know about, though.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
Well, I don't really know much about texture packs aside from downloading them and dragging them to the right folder, so... Really don't know how to do that. Would the way you suggested work with the ftb launcher?

It would seem that the modded game uses the glyph_sizes.bin for font positions and widths, as a matter of fact I fixed these in the Vanilla game so I decided to backdate them to the 1.7.10 packs.
The 1.7.10 pack have all the font fixing goodness from the later packs, this fixes a long term issue with some books in the modded game (Thaumonomicon, Lexica Botania and others).
I also backdated all the later texture clean-ups and changes too.
Here are some images of before and after (old pack vs the new one that contains the glyph_sizes.bin).
Will bold font ever work with this pack? Signs/Chat that is. I honestly cannot remember a single time that it worked even with the original back then. Before it was "doubled over font" which looked pretty ridiculous, but now it's clear text. The other thing is, putting in formatted text pushes the words to one side as if the formatting characters were actually present in the line. With the default texture pack however, the sign shows formatting and correct text positions like normal.
Bold font will never work as Minecraft just draws the characters twice with a slight offset, this works fine with the default angular font but the Berylium font is quite a bit more stylize, it does display a little better if you force the Unicode on the Language screen as the offset between the two layers is closer, still some small gaps though but it is better.
If the game supported a proper bold font (as in a different texture) then it could be added but until then the bold font will look a doubled up mess.
Another Minecraft bug is if you force the Unicode font on the Language screen the font for capital letters shifts to the left on signs as can be seen in one of the images below.
Mojang need to overhaul the whole font engine as it's a little messy at the moment with the glyph_sizes.bin, plus unfixed bugs like glyph_sizes.bin only loading when you select the resource pack and then restart the game as it's only loaded when the game loads.

I did look at the villagers over the last Xmas holiday, since Minecraft added lots more professions (Fisherman, Fletcher etc...).
The trouble is there are only six textures for the villages and the same textures are reused for lots of the different jobs.

With the reeds, are you using MCPatcher or Optifine?
If so then the reeds you need to change are in the mcpatcher directory.

Are there any combinations of larger, less pink stone bricks? My moss stone bricks seem to be pinkish compared to the rest of the pack.
Also, I downloaded the alternates, where would I be able to request a new alternate without sounding incredibly needy lol? I'm sorry to ask.
Texture bugs should be pointed towards the Technician's Remix github, if you can sort it out yourself, add it the github as this helps everyone.
On the Vanilla side, another Snapshot update, also updated the 1.8.8 with the same fonts.
John Smith Legacy 1.9 15w38a and John Smith Legacy JSC 15w38a
Shield, Banner and other small texture tweaks and a quality update to the fonts, sorting out some dodgy kerning.

@JimStoneCraft If we wanted mod support, is this the correct place to request it?
Just updated to Buildcraft 7.1.5 and the JS textures reverted to vanilla... I suspect the asset directory got reshuffled again. I will take a look to confirm.
Do you create textures for JS legacy for mods?
What mod was it that you wanted textured? If I have the time I might look into it.
