**7/26/2012** Update coming soon, got sidetracked by an old-school game. Haven't even updated the MC with the pre-release. However, I am sure the pack will still work as-is into 1.3 **7/26/2012**
WORKING ON "Terrain.png" Please, limit comments to textures related to that file right now. Not that I don't want more input. Just easier to do one file at a time! This will be as current as the download link, for ease of update.

Well It is finally enough done to throw up here! That, and I want to try to get into a certain guild...
So here I am filling a requirement, a thread with a download! Forewarning, this pack is not done. However, it is almost done so I figured I can post it up here for some much needed testing!
I tagged it as realistic, though I don't know if it counts. Here are some screen caps, you can decide for yourself:
(Note I am using full screen size pics, for detail purposes) --These are from my first built, and are out of date. I will make a better presentation when I have the time, until then check the thread for updated screens--
The rest shall be a bit smaller. Since you can get the gist from puny pics:
So there ya go, a few samples for whistle wetting. Please, do the wetting in private.
Now for the linkage, remember this IS a WIP. I am calling the pack "TP1x0" but that is just for my own editing purposes, feel free to proffer up a name for it since I hate naming things.
Anyway, please be semi-kind. This is my first texture pack (for Minecraft), I welcome any and all critisizm though I prefer back patting and coddling.
PS: Armors have only been toyed with, Iron/Diamond is done (more or less) but the others are not.

Actually the ores tile into the stone better whilst playing, and when they are not lumped together as in the screens.
However, since you pointed it out:
Ores! I am currently editing those textures from their "beta" versions. (Grass is still in beta version, but I will get to that.) So aye, yes the ores are nasty cakes at the moment. They also do NOT tile into themselves. And that makes a sad panda when there be two deposits together. (EX: Iron + Coal)
Glass: This one I am at a loss, any type of over texture is too bright and horrible. And it does not support partial transparency. While I am not happy with the glass, I spent two weeks + trying to make a workable texture. As you can see, it didn't turn out so well.
I am open to suggestions, but I do not want anything like the standard texture. I also want to keep this pack vanilla.
Grass: Still in its beta form. You should have seen the sand!!! Or snow, for that matter. Obviously the "side" version falls into this as well.
"Last 2"
Not sure what that meant, all caps are from the same texture pack. I figured I would show some completion along with the scratchy grass and odd ores.
I was going to fix the ores last night, but decided to un-beta my door. And add a trap-door beta (Ha!)
Lastly, thanks for your input for sure!!
EDIT--
I am currently making a GUI
Well, I had one made (beta) and it is getting the finishing touches.
Beta versions: Open a large, or small chest. Or activate the Enchantment GUI
Final version: Creative Inventory (12w26a)
EDIT2---
Post again so I can give you more reputation!! You helped me remember an idea I had for the glass texture, +10 internets!!!

Honestly, the ores don't look bad, just a bit worried about how they look surrounded by other textures. :/ Glass: This one I am at a loss, any type of over texture is too bright and horrible. And it does not support partial transparency. While I am not happy with the glass, I spent two weeks + trying to make a workable texture. As you can see, it didn't turn out so well.
Yeah, not much you can do with 16x glass. Mojang should really implement partial transparency support, at least for fancy mode. "Last 2"
Not sure what that meant, all caps are from the same texture pack. I figured I would show some completion along with the scratchy grass and odd ores.
I meant my last 2 bullets, sorry if it was unclear. They weren't really being shown, it seemed like, so I wasn't sure if they were actual working textures or just blah that was there to fill it up. I was going to fix the ores last night, but decided to un-beta my door. And add a trap-door beta (Ha!)
You'll need to show the door. :3 Lastly, thanks for your input for sure!!
I'm glad you enjoy the criticism. So many people get so angry at it... It's quite funny, actually. EDIT2---

Not trying to be a rep-***** here, just feel the need to reply to a direct reply.
----------
Out of quote for easy reply, my responses in purble.
Just wondering, on the woods, how did you make the woods blur into eachother (Like, a horizontal gradient or something)
it's hard to say what i mean
In order to make gradients like the ones I use, I create something similar to a palette used by painters. I pick my "main color" (in the woods case a brownish hue) fill a 8x8 circle with the color (in a 16x16 transparent background image) I then blast my circle with a "motion blur" centered on the top right (or left) center block--er pixel!
This gives me a nice range of the brown color I selected.
NOW!
I make the base drawing of the item in question. For the wood it was brown on brown. Then I begin the long task of eye droppers and pencil marks. Takes about 1 to 2 hours per 16x16 texture (to get a final version like the door above) Which I cheated on, since the two dark panels are actually copies of sections of my dark wood texture. (It was late, probably why I am mad at the door right now)
Hope that helped!
EDIT--
There is a lot more "fine tuning" with the gradients, but I assume you know how to manipulate brightness and contrast
I saw you post this on the TAU thread, and I thought "meh".
But now I see it here, it looks fantastic!
I really love those dark planks :3
I know huh?!! I can't decide if I like the brown, or the reddish brown more. Obviously, since that is a shot of my house/base/whatever...
Oak and Spruce (The light ones). They are bothersome, still are rubbing me the wrong way in the looks department. I am hoping it is just my fartist pride (I call it that because it is what makes artists think their work stinks.)
Now to the non-back patting! Didn't anyone read the OPost?! (Ha!)
- There's a visible line in obsidian, making tiling issues
THIS is what I am after!!! I only have two screens to test this pack on, and both are tuned to my liking. I will get to this toot sweet!! I hate tiling issues, and since I have been busting anus on the pack I have not been playing much with it. Heck most of my screens are from my SP tester island.
- Brick and stonebrick look too faded
Again, yay! I will up the contrast for the next snapshot (ha!) I should have an updated version to test within 30 minutes or so, unless a wild hare appears in my butt. Then I will have to tame it by fixing whatever texture is bothering it.
- Enchanting table looks too much like the default.
I swear you guys are reading my mind. As I was looking at that picture, I was trying to remember when I made that texture. Guess you figured that one out! Add the enchanting table to the beta list!
I remember now, when I was making it the "pamphlet" that comes as a book drove me nuts. So I got sidetracked...anyway a month and an ADHD trip later, here we are!
1) Fade issues with brick and stone brick
Stone bricks look a bit strange. There's no lighting on them, just darkeningnessessssssss. I liked the color of the first bricks more, also.
And, Obsidian tiling issues
There's still a nearly-straight line going through it, around the middle of it.
3) Beta grass, is now gamma grass! (I just wanted to say gamma grass...)
Not a big fan of it. You should try something other than the dark and light spots..

Aha! That explains why I keep missing it! Again, shall be remedied shortly!

May I see an example of what you mean?
Also, I keep forgetting to show the nether...nethermind?
**(This is an out of date screenshot)**
Before I respond, you are an awesome person! I love the feedback, and tips. Not to mention the highlighting, that helps a ton.
--I've outlined a tiling issue with netherrack
To be honest, I have not messed much with the nether stuff due to that areas general lack of content. Wanted to do the meat before the potato, that kind of thing.
However, I will get right on adjusting this!! And as soon as I am done responding I will add it to the OPost.
--With sidegrass, add shading under the grass part...
In my haste to update I forgot to do that! Again, I will add it in the next version for sure.
--Dat sexy armor.
Thank you!! Again, one of my likes in this mess* of a pack.
--And there are a few shading things that bug me Have not checked the link (yet) but thank you in advance, as always I love learning (My nose is always this brown, thank you.)
PS: Just got home, so no update to the pack yet. Also, I had not "verified" my mediafire account, so if you tried to download and it didn't work, it should now.
*fartistry at its finest.
EDIT-
Checked out the link, I am aware of these techniques. Though I confess I have some "personalized" touches at times. Anyway, may I ask for a more detailed description of the shading issue(s)?
Is it a "whole block" shading problem, or the secondary "embedding" shading problems?
AND
If it is embedding, is it "all" embedded textures or just a specific set (like ores for example)? (Watch it be the ores, which are bugging me right now something fierce)

Lapis is bugging me in the blur department as well. I also want to make it truer to the actual stone, which is blue with streaks of other colors.
I will add it to the list!

Zapp Brannigan is my hero
PS: I am working on a re-do of the stone brick texture AND an enchantment table. If I have the time, I will finish the Alchemy GUI which is a mess due to it being the item I was working on before publishing this thread.
Lastly, thanks to everyone for the input. I estimate this will be done just in time for 1.3

Alrighty! I have updated the stone texture, and at glance it looks dandy to me. I have not had a chance to play test it, other than to take the screen cap for you fine folks.
Old Screenshot
EDIT (Pic caption) --Bricks are current, grass isnot current--
(Are the inlets too dark in the lower corners? Methinks they are, but what do I know...) Perhaps a bit of too light and dark at the same time...
Anyway, this is how it stands for now. Going to to a sketch for the revamped enchantment table, while I wait for feedback on the stone repair job...
DL has been updated.
NOTE: I will be updating the OP with a copy of whatever file I am working on. (In this case terrain.png) That way if you want to test you don't have to download it each time. (Assuming you know how to switch out the file )
EDIT--
Oh yeah! I have not updated the other stone brick textures (moss and cracked) yet. Why do extra effort, that's what I say! Wait till I know the regular stone passes the kidneys...

Finished the last thing on the list! Woo!
If I get no other suggestions, I will go back to finishing the GUI. Then some minor tweaks to the icons, and other "random" elements (health gauge, etc) And the pack will be all done!
I don't think I want to tackle the mobs just yet, not because of difficulty but because of time!

A small(ish) update! I have been busy with ores, and had to start with being a stoner! That is, my stone texture needed an enema before I could repair (begin to) the ores!
SO, first, here is the New stone texture!
Old Screenshots
(NOTE!! I have removed the "seam" running down the middle already. This stone isn't quite done (contrast etc) You will understand after you see the ores.)
Here are three of the ores, Iron is done as well but I forgot to take a screenshot of it.
Coal
Diamond
Gold
You may also notice that the grass texture is looking pretty fancy! The side still needs work, but I only have two hands!

It is my first pack! My second will be a Star Trek theme, just because I am a geek like that. And this game is screaming for some LCARS GUI.
I was thinking a Narnia pack too, since I C S! (Ouch) Anyway, yeah Aslan abound? (Hey, that's a good name!)
Thank you!!! I do like that one as well! Iron, not so much...
