I might just download this. I normally avoid the default texture pack because of a few ugly textures, most of which you've addressed. Does all the armor look as good as that chain? o_O
also helps texture pack seekers if you put the minecraft version you have it updated to in the title. Can this be used in 1.3, do you have written books and stuff in it?
I'd like to know how weights and tiles work when doing random textures. Well I think I know that tiles are refering to the pixel number in a texture block but I can't really understand how weights work. Love your texture "upgrade" by the way.
edit: Well I figured it out somewhat but now with 1.3 pre-release and your v1.2, minecraft crashes when ctm is on. I still don't get the weight thing.
Seriously put the version you have the textures updated to in the title. >.< I presume either 1.2.5 or 1.3, if the former that means I'll have to go find where the default texture pack is hidden in the minecraft files and copy the new stuff over. Not eager to do that again.
that and a consistent resolution helps, the changes are kind of everywhere so I'm not sure if this is a fully 16x pack or has some 32x textures. If that were all the same resolution, you could put that in the title too.
edit: AFTER ACTUALLY DOWNLOADING IT
My computer acted up for a bit, but looking at the actual texture pack I kind of like it. It improves things here and there without losing the feel of the default texture pack. I'm liking the new fire, more textured armor, and incorporation of random mobs. One minor thing is could you release a version of the pack with regular redstone lamps? the black/white ones just don't look good with a lot of the regular, lampy uses I was using them for.
overall rating: This texture pack is better than default!
I'm having an issue I didn't notice earlier, the water is a flat gray. I'm not noticing this with other texture packs. As far as the MCpatcher I have only random mobs and the basic HD features enabled because the other stuff lags me too badly. How could I fix this?
also when poking around other textures: the ender chest interior is mesmerizing. o_O
I don't like texture packs, they take away the feel of the game for me. However, I LOVE some of the textures you have in here (namely the marks on the redstone repeaters )
I still don't think I'll install the entire pack, but I can't wait to integrate some of these textures into my default pack.
I have to ask, I've been trying to figure this out for a VERY long time. How did you make the redstone appear to have a strong signal until it cuts? I do a lot of redstone and this would be invaluable to me.
Some of these textures look like textures from other packs... Is this a remix, or did you do this on your own? Because I swear, the mushroom caps look like the one from Inspiration pack. Also, I noticed the art.kz is just like the one from Faithful 32X
What ?
The mushroom caps look like the one from "Inspiration pack" (never heard before) ???
Maybe you should look at them a bit closer, they are very similar to the default mushrooms, I just tweaked the colors and replaced the dark stems with brighter ones. ... and kz.png: The paintaings CAN'T be exactly like the ones from Faithful 32x because MY paintings have doubled resolution (or 4x resolution compared to default). The original kz.png I created was in 8x resolution (2048x2048) and had over 3 MB (larger than the whole texturepack itself), so I reduced the size to 1024x1024 ...
The only files I use from other texturepacks are taken from Misa's 64x64 Realistic Pack with her permission (mostly downscaled animations and HD stuff like the Minecraft logo).
Sorry about that. Inspiration had based some of it's textures on Misa, probably that's why it resembles it. I didn't download the pack, I just saw the pictures, and thought they looked familiar. Also, a lot of people use their textures from the faithful pack, so I thought you did that too.
- For personal use and local distribution: Yes, you can do everything with it
- If you wanna upload the edited pack to the internet instead, do not use Misa's stuff included in "Better than Default" without her permission and do not make any money with anything taken from "Better than Default" (no donations, no adf.ly !!!).
If i was going to make it public, i was thinking of giving it to you for distribution, if you don't want to distribute it than i'll just do it for my self, but thanks for the permission.
Sorry, I don't plan to add any mod-related textures, because of following reason:
This pack's name is "Better than Default" - not "Better than [insert mod name here]"
Most mod-related textures fit the mod's theme very well, and if something does not, you better contact the mod's creator to fix it or do it yourself for private use. Contacting a mod creator to tweak his textures should be a lot easier than contacting Mojang to tweak the default textures ... know what I mean ?
so, have fun with your "Better than Tekkit" idea and thanks for using "Better than Default"
.
Okay then, thanks for making this texture pack though!
It's nice but the pillars are kinda quite common now.i don't like swamp coloring though. Makes them even more hideous and unrealistic.

Hd moon, sun, armors look rubbish in the 16x16 pack. That's why I'd never use this, although it has very clever changes.

And second, I love how fast you progress.
Thanks for the great work!
I am going to be starting making LPs and this is what im going to use
Keep up the great work
