Wow, that is probably the best obsidian I have ever seen. The netherrack is really good, though, I'd like something less stereotypical for netherrack, and for soulsand, maybe a bubblly, oozy, porous, muddy... thing...
Well, I've done so many 'out there' nether designs that I want to make something a bit closer to default (but not TOO default, haha).
And I'm glad you like the obsidian. It took me two stinking days to do. I kid you not.
I see this is coming along nicely. Purpley obsidian is where it's at. Reminds me of the first texture pack I ever used (painterly). Ahh, memories...
The design was definitely painterly inspired. I was getting tired of making lumpy rock for every other texture. :\
Seriously, have you ever stopped to consider just how many textures fall into the 'lumpy surface' category for any given pack? Stone, dirt, netherrack, obsidian, (possibly) glowstone, gravel, sand, snow, soulsand, clay, bedrock, end stone...
I always find it a nice surprise when texture packs change the colour of netherrack. I dunno if you want to be that daring, but a less saturated charcoal-ish dark blue/purple would look sort of cool. I think the Aardvark pack has something like that.
Also, if I may continue to be pedantic, I would love an alternate glowstone texture that doesn't look like a lantern. It looks strange when you walk into the nether and see a cluster of lanterns growing out of the ceiling.
I really like this pack so far. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
e: and that obsidian is fantastic.
I tried making the nethrrack purple/bluish after reading your comment, but then I realized that I really needed a dark redish color for the pack...so yeah. Redish/brownish/defaultish netherrack it is.
I actually tried to make 'natural' glowstone first, but as I ranted above, I was running out of tricks for making lumpy textures...so I went to the lantern fall-back. Maybe I'll eventually make a natural alt. :smile.gif:
I'm pretty picky, it seems. I'm really looking forward to seeing this pack (at least the terrain.png) finished though. I currently use a heavily-modified Xenocontendi -- I've switched out the GUI, the paintings, and some particle effects, and I've recoloured a few blocks to suit my tastes.
That said, I've been using Xeno for a very long time and this pack gets me excited for something different.
Not really sure what the point of this post is. I guess it's a roundabout way of me saying hey, don't worry about the natural glowstone, because I'll just add it in myself in the meantime.

Ah, it seems like I'm not the only one to edit the packs I download!
Not to worry, I totally understand the impulse to edit something that you don't like. And as long as it's only for personal use, feel free to go crazy with your glowstone swapping. :biggrin.gif:
With reference to the general feel of the two packs, being Jolicraft and this, both packs have
a brighter color scheme. While I believe Feathers used a specific pre-made palette, they both present
a happy/cheery feel.
On the subject of higher contrast between the textures, I wouldn't necessarily say Feathers' textures
are super high contrast, but rather that Andre's are much lower in contrast, reflecting the differences in styles
between the two packs.
Anyways, this looks awesome Feathers. I personally don't like the chest, to change the mood, but not
because it doesn't look nice, but rather due to the fact that I don't see the connection between it and the other textures involving
crafting.

None the less, beautiful work!

I anticipated that the chest would cause some grumping and griping (not that you're grumping or griping :wink.gif:), but I really feel it fits with the overall mood of the pack. I found the color and the lightness a little startling too, at first, but it really does grow on you.
Personally, Feather, I'm not really a fan of the chest. I have a feeling I'd like it more if it actually matched the colour of the rest of the wood. Though I adore the swirly tall grass. <3 The glass is also sorta meh in my opinion, but I prefer glass that you can actually see a full picture through. Personal preference. =D<br/>
It reminds me of a 16x version of Enchanted. I think it's because of some strange combination of the grass, the side of the snow, the iron door, the stone bricks/cobble, the actual bricks and the ores. Oh, that and the water and the rails.
No download yet, sorry. I'm trying to get at least the terrain.png done first.
Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit TOO purple. I'll tone it down a bit.

I'm experiencing lumpy overload. *sparks ominously*
Lima beans are ick. How about...the size of a grain of rice?
...oh wait, rice is smaller than lima beans....hehe, sorry. :3

Editing them may not be a bad idea, though. :ohmy.gif:
There's yet more to come!
Also, my idea for the soul sand would be something like goo like the other idea.
You see that green button with the plus? You dont have to click it, and I am not gonna force you to do it.
I'm leaning towards goo myself. :smile.gif:
Glad you like it!
Interesting comparison, not sure I see it myself.

I'm...I'm famous?

I still don't understand the comparison, but I'm glad you like it. :smile.gif:

I'd say you are one of the more famous people on these forums, Feathers.
Yes. You are famous.
But, everything else looks great.
Keep up the great work.
