Even though this is only two screenshots, there's a LOT going on here.
-snip
Watermelons are now air dropped MRE packages (replete with MREs themselves upon "slicing it up").
Pumpkins are now air dropped generators. Powering one with a torch turns on their lights!
-snip-
New rails! Also, new rubble debris in the form of stone slabs. All plants have been replaced. I hope you like the tree fern I made. That was fun to draw!
Excellent as always. And very nice idea for the pumpkins/watermelon. :biggrin.gif:
But I'm very curious-- how are you going to handle the pumpkin/watermelon vines now that they aren't organic?

Changed them into air drop beacon lights. They slowly come out of the ground and then "glow." Will probably take a little tweaking to get their heights correct though.
Also, just finished the saplings too. Oh boy!
Now you too can build your very own post-apoc club! (the padded leather walls are orange wool btw).
This morning I realized that this texture pack kind of reminds me of Glimmar's steampunk pack. The styles are kind of similar, which is a good thing. Can't wait to see the finished product!
A suggestion for iron ore- maybe scrap metal embedded in stone? This would fit your idea of the iron sword being a rusty crowbar. Coal could be fuel tanks... Not sure that either of those ideas would look that good, but it would fit the theme, and judging by the rest of your work you could probably pull it off!

Fuel tanks are a good idea. i'm indeed going with the idea of ores being modern day supplies embedded in "rubble" basically. So far the iron ore is lengths of rusty rebar jutting out of crumbled stone. Looks great! Next up, the other ores...
The stone took forever to get right, but eventually I got something I'm happy with. Also ended up making a good looking gravel as well, but I think I still need to fiddle with it because it's still very close to the style of the stone texture.
This is prodigious! The sidegrass feels a little weird, though. It has some sort of unrealistic flow with the dirt. I think it's the contrast, I don't know. Overall this is an excellent pack, which I will defenitely download!
Good of you to point that out. I think I'll likely be redoing that before I release. As it is, it's too stylized and not "realistic" enough. So I need to revisit it. Thanks for the kind words :biggrin.gif:!
The only thing I dislike about it is that it doesn't feel... dead enough.
I was thinking about that last night actually. I'm going to be putting out two versions at the end. One that's more lively and simply survival in a broken world. Another that's closer to the movie The Road in how bleak and destroyed it is.
These are all very well done, but I do have one complaint. This is a post-apocalyptic pack, but things like cactus and vines are... Well, I'm not sure. They don't really go along with the post apocalyptic feel, and certain others go against that theme as well.
Non-fitting textures include, but are not limited to:
Wheat- You would think it would be less saturated, since it is growing in a wasteland.
Paintings*- You would think, with the freedom of paintings, that some of these would be more beaten up.
Wool- This is only halfway on the list, as it doesn't have the most importance of fitting. The problem with it is the fanciness.
TNT- I don't see how a present fits the theme, or even close to it.
That certainly doesn't ruin the pack, though. This is a great project!
* Things such as the slightly-boarded up glass wall

This is more of a "soft" post-apoc set. It's not something wild and strange like Mad Max, but more sorrowful and broken like a dystopian novel. As for the paintings... well, they're beaten up, but they're not destroyed. They're more horrifying than you'd imagine, really. Paintings of nuclear bombs, and selections from "The Hands Resist Him." Google it. It's a little easter egg, actually.
There are some little tidbits for everyone in this pack, and I'll be putting out two versions. One much more a nuclear winter, and another more of a "normal" playset.
one of the things i like about this pack is it DOESN'T feel post-apocalyptic, there are already quite a few fallout-esque packs available(last days, overgrown).
what this pack brings to mind is rebuilding after a major natural disaster(earthquake, flood, tsunami, tornado, hurricane, etc.) complete with air-dropped supplies(wouldn't make any sense after the apocalypse and subsequent government breakdown)
it's gritty, worn down and broken, but still very much alive
I... love this! There's this professional care that you can see in this. Not to mention how much Steelfeathers drools over you. That's enough to have me kill for you. I am eagerly awaiting further updates.
Love the new updates, well all of the updates. This is just perfect.

Actually, that's an understatement. Those are the best saplings I have ever seen.

I use Photoshop CS5 and a WACOM tablet.
Oh boy! Another update! More goodies for sharing!
New grass edging, as promised :wink.gif:
Rundown wallpaper for furnishing your post-apoc home.
Two varieties, actually! Each comes with an edging option too.
Get creative with it! Turn plain old wood into fancy wainscoting!
That looks absolutely amazing! Is the wallpaper retextured wool?
Yup!
Only 2 colors of wool left to re-do - blue-green and light gray.
only about 16-ish textures left before release!
*goes and sobs in the corner*
....don't forget the non-gory plants please!
A post nuclear stronghold... how will yours look?
(note: cacti replaced with barbed wire stakes!)
Inside my humble abode. Safe and sound!
