I think the contrast could be lowered.
People have felt iffy about the stone texture from the start, I'll look in to your suggestion though thank you.
By the way, does the alternative texture I added (In hopes of alleviating people's issue with the default) feel any better to you? Picture to compare-v

Okay! So 4R Craft 1.6 is out and I've made some changes (Including taking in to account Xorjt's opinion on Stone) I've made a fair number of tweaks and added MC 1.9 support. This is the last planned major revision and I can only maybe say I'll add new MC stuff from here going forward.
I also split 1.6 up, the Winter pack is now the Xmas pack because let's just be honest I was lying to say it was anything but Xmas-ey. It's also an addon pack you use with 4RCraft now to cut down on download size. The stand-alone pack is now also cut down to 2MB and the alternative textures are downloaded separately now (Under downloads)
Hope you guys like it, I know 4R Craft will always be looked down on for one reason or another but I loved making it and have a ton of amazing memories tied up in it, 5 years worth!
I don't understand how to use the alternative textures. Can you help?
Sure! Sorry to hear you had any trouble with it. I'll run you through the steps and you can tell me what you're having trouble with. : )
First open the 4RCraftAltTexts zip file (Requires Winrar, 7zip, or Winzip. I prefer Winrar) and open your copy of Minecraft then go to your resource packs list and click the "Open Resource Pack Folder" button.
Once that's open drag all the files inside of the 4RCraftAltTexts zip in to your resourcepacks folder, once that's done go in to the AlternateTextures folder and find one you'd like to try and find the Assets folder inside, copy that and head to your 4RCraftAltTexLayer folder back under the resourcepacks folder and past that inside.
Tell it to overwrite anything it asks about, then head back to Minecraft and add 4RCraftAltTexLayer to your resourcepack load order above 4R Craft.
Go in game and see if the alternate texture you chose works, if so congrats!
I'm sorry it's so much more complicated than it should be, I've dreamed of offering an easier and better system for them but I'm not sure how without web hosting or a program to switch things around.

Bumping for updates and because I just wanted to share my views on 4R Craft and some insight in to what it took making it.
First on updates, no new resourcepack is planned or in the works but I have an idea if I ever do make one. As for 4R Craft I still plan to keep it on the heels of Minecraft releases and as best I can, 1.11 compatible version is planned when it launches.
Second, 4R Craft is very obviously not a popular or fan deserved pack I know that; but I feel like after working on it for half a decade I owe some explanation on how I came to love it and work on it with pretty much no feedback or support from anyone else at all or where I got the ideas or etc. etc.
My background isn't too hard to guess, I'm a graphic designer that has loved games since I was born; Sonic the hedgehog being my first game and one of my all time favorites, the original 2D Sonic games hugely impacted me while making 4R Craft and I've sat for hours on end just studying them and learning what I could from them to get better. Just check the Yellow and Green Alternate bricks, pretty much a love letter (Aka rip) of the stone from Hydrocity Zone in Sonic 3 haha. And we won't discuss the Diamond item texture.
Those games mean a lot to me both as a gamer and as an artist.
The other things that have impacted me are Doku's old RPG and Dokucraft packs, lovely and fun to use but more than them even is the one that convinced me I wanted to make a texture pack- Kas/Rhodox's Painterly pack. Fell in love with it, it still blows my mind even now how he uses 16x textures to capture such wild and different extremes of texture and quality. So much depth and so so so many alt textures, something I wanted to carry on in making 4R Craft (Mine don't compare at all, but I still adore some of the alts. for 4R Craft)
Shout out to Steel Feathers too, fantastic artist and amazing at textures of all sizes seriously. One of her packs from 2011 (Same year I started 4R Craft) looks just like 4R Craft does now only better! I just learned about it this year, kills me knowing she stomped me a whole 5 years in advance of me getting here and having 4R Craft where I want it. Ah well hahaha.
So, what's up with me making 4R Craft pretty much in secret? Do I have a people, maybe a forum that supports it elsewhere?
Nope. I've been making 4R Craft from the ground up all these years, remaking and tweaking textures myself alone just for me. I've plenty of times taken a lot of consideration for others and how they might see/use the pack (Did you know I've taken great care in making almost all textures in 4R Craft Colorblind friendly? Betcha didn't. I did this in part in respect for those who are colorblind and in part for my mother who has what we call "Roving Colorblindness" really her Multiple Sclerosis makes it hard for her to reliably see colors the same from day to day.)
4R Craft has been a way for me to become better as an artist and change the way I work on art, it's been an avenue and outlet for tons of new and different thoughts, ideas, feelings, and techniques I wouldn't have otherwise had before and it means the world to me to be able to have made it and share it with other people. It has so many good memories and so much experiences in it I'm probably super blinded to just how bad others see it as. When I look at it I see all those years, so many good memories and so much meaning. I'm sad I can't ever truly share that all with you but writing this feels like my way of bringing some of that to you. To help you see even if you think some parts are terrible, and you're right because it's your opinion so it can't really be wrong, but those terrible parts were still made with so much love and care.
4R Craft has been my baby. None of the projects I've finished have come anywhere close to the scope or size of 4R Craft. (The front page thing with the stories and stuff? Over half a year in the making! I took so much time and care making that beside 4R Craft 1.5 it's insane. But I love the pack and wanted something truly carefully made like the pack to present it.)
So as I've said so many times before, thank you all for so much just for even seeing 4R Craft. It is self validating, so just you seeing it makes me all the happier about something I ultimately love and care very deeply about.

Rabbittt here once again to bring you another installment of 4R Craft and yet another new opening post~
This also makes this the third 4R Craft update this year, wow.
So for 1.6.2 I made some small tweaks to the pack here and there while I was working to hopefully fix some naturally occurring issues (Darn you mine cart chests) and some odd tweaks here and there (Green Villager has been reworked, I didn't expect him to ever make it in the game)
I also added some new alternative textures to the alt pack as well as a set of bonus skins to use for your own character!
These were in the now defunct 4R Craft mystery pack but I decided to let them roam free on their own; new pictures at the top of the alt. texture spoiler.
Speaking of, I made some neat pictures as part of the riddle for that mystery pack I felt were still worth sharing (This is the 4R Craft thread right?)
These were both meant to be solved by finding the right word in them (RPG and Nothing)
First is a take on old game review magazines, haven't seen one of these in forever!
This one is meant to feel more like a take on the 80s-era adventure games.
So why another new opening post? (That's #4 btw) I liked a lot about the last one but it was a pain to post updates to (The imgur album made it a pain whenever you went to edit it and you had to re-write the codes without copy-paste for it to work properly together)
I also just wanted something cleaner and easier to translate for anyone using translated pages or the like.
I like the image posts and all but they always feel so big and cluttered and heavy it feels like it wastes the viewers' time vs. simple browser formatted text.
So thanks again for stopping by and that's all for 4R Craft news.
Oh and on the subject of resource packs and something new, no spoilers. Code name right now however is Spire.
I saw your pack from your signature on another post and decided to check it out.
Some critique:
Single placed iron bars are hard to see, probably a model issue though.
Gravel has a noticeable tiling on it.
The water animation has 4 pixels that appear giving it a grid, other than that it's pretty static.
The wool textures almost look like a single shade of colour.
The pumpkins appear to be machined? May look out of place in nature or when grown.
-Edit- I assume it has to do with the iron golem.
I agree with previous comments, the stone is out of place when next to the very noiseless dirt, very high contrast and has a repeating pattern.
What I like/love:
Animated ores
The discolouration in the hay block
All the item textures
The GUI
Bookshelf

Wow, thank you! It's been some years working on this pack without any major feedback besides the stone (There are multiple alternative textures to replace it but yes I do agree it's ill fitting and the fact you HAVE to replace it with alt textures and fumble with stuff is cumbersome to the user. I'm sorry for multiple reasons for this)
First I appreciate the praise especially on the ore animations and item textures (The ore gleam gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling every time I see it hehe)
On the critique:
Agree, will look in to this thank you. @bars
Yes I've tried to tackle this before but it usually ends in a worse survival texture but I am willing to throw this texture out entirely.
I fear I'm tiling challenged. If you're willing to; tell me does this look the same, worse, or better?
Agreed. I had higher hopes for the water but being my first ever animation it clearly sucks and I'll happily oust it if/when I re-do the pack.
I see the texture okay but it's still just kind of a lame texture, I wanted it to look like the wool on the beds but couldn't ever get that to gel right so it ended up a hacked mess. I agree again, failed wool.
Yep, pumpkins were part of the "story" supposed to be totem heads forged by the "natives" but you're right making them of natural resources would have been a vastly better looking and feeling option.
In my haste to update the pack I redid the original much better stone and ruined it, gg. I plan to remake it a third time once I am a better texture artist (Angles, lighting, the whole thing. I have some plans)
So yeah thank you so much for checking out the pack and writing me up some very solid feedback; I know you went easy on me and I appreciate that too haha. Even if I don't use it for this pack I will be continuing to make pixel art and your input has definitely helped me with that; thank you again!

Bumping to say I saw the first video review for 4R Craft! This is a pretty big deal to me, even if they don't go in to detail about alternate textures- I'd like to share it so I've added it to the first post. They were surprisingly kind to the pack, I expected a total ripfest! They made some subtle but noticed points I will be looking in to, and I truly appreciate the effort they put in sharing their thoughts and feelings on the pack.
If more videos end up getting made I'll be happy to start a video section in the first post.

Out of band post yaaaay. Okay but seriously guys, I know work on 4R Craft hasn't ever been very transparent and you have no idea what of the many misleading things I've said over the years might actually be true since most of them didn't pan out (1.4.X versions...) but today I wanted to open up very wide. I have a bunch of news old and new I would love to share so let's begin;
The latest version of 4R Craft will not coincide with Minecraft 1.12 4R Craft now carries a "Requires Optifine" label and as such I won't be releasing the latest version (1.7) until after a stable version of Optifine is released that supports all of the pack's features. The latest version has also taken a lot of time and I have more to do yet, so this also lets me get more that I want accomplished.
References and inspirations 4R Craft has a ton and I would like to be open about them, most artists shy away from this for fear of persecution but I ride that line all the time so hey, come read about my obsession for Sonic the Hedgehog and Painterly in the Spoiler below.
Gem shine animation lovingly inspired by Final Fantasy VII!
Dragon Egg texture inspired by Spyro the Dragon (3)
Planks are an homage to Steelfeathers' beautiful work
Glass is an homage to Doku and his fantastic contributions to the art world.
Evoker inspired by (Naked, Robed) Sirius Black from the Harry Potter Series
Potion effects, almost all of them draw inspiration and ideas from games I love-
Haste, Slow, and Levitate icons are inspired by Sonic's shoes from the Sonic the Hedgehog games
Invisibility and Glow icons inspired by the lives icon from The Addams Family game for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive
Hunger and Sickness icons inspired loosely by Toejam and Earl
Jump height increase icon inspired by Crash Bandicoot 3 double jump icon
Wither status icon inspired by Kingdom Hearts
Potion particles are not shuriken and you can't prove it
Cookies being bitten is a reference to my favorite resourcepack and largest influence, Painterly.
Nether Star inspired by the Ouroboros; ancient symbol that I might have happened to find and like because of Fullmetal Alchemist
Diamonds and Emeralds both inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog Emerald designs
Leather Armor inspired loosely by the infamous dovahkiin armor from Skyrim
Magenta Carpet Llama has a gold Ring on its' back, a reference to Sonic the Hedgehog
Paintings-
Digdug Steve, the masked blue shirted small painting is a mash-up of Dig Dug and Minecraft
Sword with glaring eyes painting heavy inspiration from Zelda games and classic RPGs
The small paintings from the Cuts alt. set are all inspired by music albums. The eye(s) the Coffin and the Cross are inspired by Swans' The Seer and the Hydra, Fan, Blood Table, and Hourglass paintings are all inspired by Otep's Hydra.
The Lo-Bit alternate set has plenty too! The small blue painting is a reference to Death Cab For Cutie's Open Door EP and the medium Blue and purple painting is a reference to Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Frankie says Relax shirts), the medium and wide green painting with the flowing notes is a reference to Harvest Moon Magical Melody and the other mediums paintings are references to Pong(Cyan+GrayRed) Asteroids(Blue+GrayYellow) Pacman(Magenta+Blue) and Tetris(Green+Purple), the medium pink and large yellow paintings are both (sadly) meme references (I swear they were newer in 2011)
One of the Colorful Bookshelf Alt. textures definitely isn't the cast of Futurama at all, no sir. No brain slugs either
Plasma Rifle Bow alt. inspired by Doom, silly sound effects were for my own entertainment
MixedGY (Green and Yellow) brick alt. inspired by Hydrocity Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Exclamation Point and Question Mark alt. explosions inspired by Psychonauts
The Nether. A lot-
All of them are at least loosely inspired by the Silent Hill games(1-4). I adore them, seriously
Default Nether; Pigmen are inspired by Executioners, the Netherrack is inspired by (bloody) padded cell walls
Flesh Nether Alt; inspired by Silent Hill 3 otherside, referenced directly by Nether Brick transforming
The Beast's Nether Alt; Inspired by Diablo 2, heavy inspiration taken from Act IV. Zombie Pigmen being a "Stranger
Paradise Lost Nether Alt; inspired by the Christian lore of the Devil's fall from Heaven, also inspired by the Cradle of Filth albums Damnation and a Day and Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa. Pigmen are fallen angels in various stages of becoming Succubus', Glowstone are mirrors for Vanity, Nether Brick is Pearl Bricks (Symbolism), Ghast is the infamous Cthulhu
Raught Nether; inspired loosely by Clive Barker's work
Untitled Paintings and Untitled Nether both inspired heavily by the album Telepathic With the Deceased by Xasthur
Construct Prismarine alt. inspired loosely by Megaman Legends 2
Forever Skeleton alt. is none other than Duke Nukem, albeit not in his best shape
Default TNT and CrateC3 and CrateCB are all inspired by Crash Bandicoot's TNT
Firesquid Alt. inspired by off of a child's drawing they wanted to see in game as a Nether mob
BroadSeax alt. sword is inspired by off of Cloud's Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII, and the LoopStaves alt is inspired by (loosely) on Yuna's staff from Final Fantasy X
For Legal reasons the Star Zombie alt. and the Laser Sword alt. both are not references to anything at all
Finally, I want to share the history and roadmap of 4R Craft There's a ton of things you don't know about me and 4R Craft, but I do have an abridged version of a lot of it with pictures if you'd like to know.
There also might be some spoilers for the next 4R Craft version in that above visual roadmap. Ah well!
That's all for now, I hope you'll find 1.7 worth the wait. As always feel free to leave feedback on the current version of 4R Craft, it's always appreciated even if it is you complaining about the default Stone again! I'm not passive aggressive you're passive aggressive...

1.7 has been a huge undertaking for me and it means a lot to me, like 4R Craft always has, I really wanted to make a true upgrade that reflects me and my vision for 4R Craft but also takes all the feedback I've gotten from the years and really puts it to use (See: New Stone + Stone Transition textures) I want to say thank you to everyone that's given 4R Craft a try and a huge thank you to everyone that's given me feedback on it over the years. Thank you!
This looks great
Thanks, much appreciated!
Nice work keeping that awesome resource pack alive by the way, pretty cool additions on it!
The stone really pushes me away. It looks far too noisy, and busy. However the texture is fine, just not en masse.
I think the contrast could be lowered.
People have felt iffy about the stone texture from the start, I'll look in to your suggestion though thank you.
By the way, does the alternative texture I added (In hopes of alleviating people's issue with the default) feel any better to you? Picture to compare-v
Yes! The alternate is far better.
Take care out there, and don't forget your books!
Thank you for your help! Love this resource pack
Sorry for the late reply- And thank you! It means the world to me to hear someone likes my work.
Alright! No grand update I'm afraid but 1.6.1 is ready to go! Adding MC 1.10 support and some very minor changes.
Will update you guys when/if I consider making a new pack. 4R Craft has grown pretty hard to update due to not matching my tastes anymore.
The discolouration in the hay block
All the item textures
The GUI
Bookshelf
Servers Rules|Support Forum Rules|Show Your Creation Rules|Off Topic Rules
I was browsing through resource packs that would fit with a modpack I am working on and this stood out to me, amazing work!
Thank you! Glad to hear you like it.
Out of band post yaaaay. Okay but seriously guys, I know work on 4R Craft hasn't ever been very transparent and you have no idea what of the many misleading things I've said over the years might actually be true since most of them didn't pan out (1.4.X versions...) but today I wanted to open up very wide. I have a bunch of news old and new I would love to share so let's begin;
Take care guys!
Quick, have a spoiler picture before the mods notice I'm the only one posting and close the thread!
There are 6 spoilers in this picture, the most obvious one is the new "Organic" pumpkin alternate texture.
A lot of the pictures I have for 4R Craft are pretty out of date actually; something I also hope to address with the release of version 1.7.
Ugh, I can't stand being so torn. I always want to keep people in the loop and updated but I know not only does no one watch this thread but I'll just be showing them nice in-progress things they don't get to play with.
Luckily that time isn't now, because 1.7 has come alive!

Thank you!
With all my love, Rabbittt.
