I'm not even allowing to alter the textures anymore, or to use it as a base.
What about with explicit permission? I wanted to ask about borrowing Drasavil base textures if I ever get enough done to actually want to distribute the textures I'm toying with
I'm personally not a fan of the idea of constantly policing my content, considering I may not always be around. Should someone be allowed to get away with using my content because I'm busy and can't report it myself?
I understand that this may be an attempt to protect our work, but it's a huge inconvenience. It really makes me reconsider having my packs up, y'know?
EDIT: To be honest, I'm just going to remove my pack. It's just plain silly.
So I can't accuse admins of doing something wrong when they obviously did?
Also your avatar makes you an obvioustroll.
Ugh... history repeats...
You really aren't very smart, are you? My forumname is 'Lolligator'. As a joke about the name, I stretched out a trollface.jpg to an alligator.
And how can I be a troll when I simply state the thruth and try to help this whole protest by giving tips on how to fight these new rules? I think you just gave me the achievement that's in my signature.
Mate, you just said something that really doesn't make sense at all.
So I can't accuse admins of doing something wrong when they obviously did?
You can, but will it work out good for you, and will the rules be changed when you accuse the admins and mods for smoking pot and being lazy, which people on this thread do? Wouldn't it be logic to think that they might have overseen the problems that these rules bring, meaning they aren't bringing the problem to the artists on purpose, like the people on this thread say?
As how the majority on this forum behaves and talks, this isn't going anywhere. I just try to prevent it from going that way.
Another thought. This new rule will completely wipe out any of the texture discussion threads that were started recently and what exactly qualifies as work to be copyrighted. There is a new community pack that was started by leostereo but they haven't started on the texture pack yet. He is still reviewing applications. How can you copyright that? Will threads like that be removed as well?

The point: it squashes creativity. We can't work together to make art if we are constantly worried about looking over our shoulders.
If you want to get a reaction from the admins, make sure they're flooded with messages from users.
Which will be easy to accomplish. Simple have a bunch of pack-makers united in protest replace the first posts of their pack threads with an explanation of why they don't have it up anymore and links to contact admins. Bumpmaft alone gets thousands of downloads a day. If Aageon, Scuttles, and other hugely popular pack makers (Like Joli) can get on board and all do this, it will create a justified stink that'll be aimed at the admins.
Provided, of course, the text your replace your pack posts with is unified and written carefully.
EDIT: Also, "license" is a REALLY hard word to spell.
What will happen to all those poor people who left the forums / have lives to attend to? (i.e Doku !)
Their work will be taken without regard for what they have done. Doku himself put up a disclaimer at the top of the page. These new "rules" make that disclaimer null and void. What about Last Days? What about newbies with new texture packs? I mean, it does say "read this first", but I didn't understand it until I gave it another look. There are so many things wrong with this legislation. There shouldn't be the need to say something like this seeing as our work is already under copyright, disregarding whether it's written down or not. This conduct is absolutely unacceptable from a website like minecraftforum.net, a site that markets itself as the "official" minecraft forum.
If you showed this legislation to Mojang, there's no doubt in my mind that they would also disagree.
I'm tempted to not release any of my work on this website unless these so-called "rules" are amended to make it easier for texture pack artists, and not easier for those who steal them.

I agree with this. I will do the same if a bunch of us can make a pact together and agree on a message to display.
The legislation at the top of the forum lacks proper grammar and punctuation. The statement at the end also says, quote unquote,
Quote from Section Specific Rules: READ THIS FIRST! 12th August 2011 »
That said the Original Author/Artist must then submit a report stating the offenders thread, what part(s) are in violation of the licence, the licence that is been violated and a link to their original content. In other words the Original Author has to prove that with out doubt that the offender is guilty of breaking their licence. Innocent until proven guilty as is the statute of US Law.
"Innocent until proven guilty as is the statute of US Law."
I'm sorry, this is a forum that caters not just to citizens of the United States, but all citizens of all countries around the world. Basing your legislation on one country's law is just not going to cut it.
This following statement might be slightly inflammatory, but I believe it holds some water.
This reminds me of an article I read about the british riots. In the years leading up to this years riots, no action was taken to punish those who did wrong, and so whenever they performed crimes, they often got off scott free. The victim was given a hard time. The kids and teenagers who did these crimes then felt they had nothing to fear from the police. Essentially the same thing could happen here.

How about something like
We regret to inform our fans and followers that we are removing our work from this forum. The new policies instigated by the Admins of this forum are restrictive, burdensome and will destroy any and all of the creative talent of these forums. The new policies are not only unfair to the creators but also violate the very copyright laws that they are supposed to be upholding. By requiring that a thread have proof of copyright or be removed as not being copyrighted these policies directly contradict Berne Convention and World Intellectual Property Organization Copyright Treaty and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Both of which are accepted by not just the U.S but also by the U.N. and all it's participating countries.

EXCELLENT.

I think the guy that does the community doku upkeep thread needs to go get dokucraft asap so at least someone has it who won't mutilate it

And those were the worst forums I've ever seen in my life.

Off topic but they probably aren't as bad as roblox

Last Days isn't dead--There's an official revival.
DOOOOO IIIIIT. Seriously, I'm not kidding. What an excellent way to protest the new rules! By following them!
