True. This should be respected, but as a texture maker, it's a bit annoying when my original work is pushed down by the next Simplecraft...
The problem is't simple packs, it's too much simple packs. We can live with one, but not a new one every day.
Part of me wishes I hadn't vowed not to bump my own guide again...
EDIT: I think there's a placebo effect involved.
That's what I'm thinking. Something that I think would be an interesting experiment, create a simple pack, resize it 32x, and claim it reduces lag. See how many people claim it works. This would really prove if simple packs are a placebo for less lag.
I honestly wouldn't mind simple packs if they actually involved creativity. You and Steelfeathers have the 2 best simple packs on the forums just because they actually involve creativity in them. They aren't just a simplified default.
Agreed. I'd love for this to be stickied, not just to say I have a stickied thread, but so that hopefully people will see it before posting their simple packs, and actually think.
EDIT:
I added a poll. You can vote whether or not you think the thread deserves a sticky.
I just wanted to add to this.... I took this while compiling a video..so my cpu was taxed to hell..(normally get 70-100fps) but this is rubbish craft.. simple 16x that claims to make minecraft get better framerates vs my 256x running full glsl shaders.

thanks man... might wanna edit the post a bit.. shooting a video doesn't make much sense... I was compiling an edited video. people might think the study is bunk based on minor typo's like that. :smile.gif:
You see that green button with the plus? You dont have to click it, and I am not gonna force you to do it.
Bump!
Some people like simple packs. Not just for FPS. Ever though of that?
Yep, but a lot of them claim to improve FPS when they in fact don't, and most of them are nearly identical anyway.
:tongue.gif:
(off to make my 1/2x1/2 pack so my puter getz no lags and runs away)
"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to...."
