@Ironwaffle
Its the tiles from Hydrocity zone! I couldn't believe it worked out either but hey, it did.
Next to update is: better leaves including a fast graphic.
The current sand related textures need work. I think the current sand texture will fit better as soulsand, since it's the quicksand from sandopolis. The sand Sonic is walking on here would be good for regular sand, and the block he's pushing for sandstone. http://tcrf.net/images/d/db/Sonic3C0408_SandopolisZone.png
The possibilities of the past and future are as various as our imaginations. How far we can think, and what we can think of, is dependent on each of us, and what we believe in.

Edit2: Please include a way for us to add the Sonic Vintage Signature in the OP.
I can settle well with that. Even better logic then I had to begin with! Plus... did you see the CURRENT soul sand? Its the background from Mystic Cave zone... and it sucks... I will switch those tiles around as it will fit much better, but do you think It would be too much to edit the hue, or color of the sand, to make it more similar to soul sand. Not making it from its original to neon green, just want to make it more a brownish color like the original Minecraft texture.
As for Edit2: I'm not entirely sure what you mean. OP?
I'm not familiar at all with image editing software, but I don't see why you couldn't make it work. Just make sure you don't shade it too much, or it WILL backfire. More importantly, I just came up with an idea, and I would like you to take the soulsand's shading into consideration with the later half of this post.
OP = Opening. In other words, the first post in a thread. In this case, the one with the download link, and screenshots of the texture pack.
(Details removed to prevent spoilers for future updates to the texture pack)

Lava Reef was probably my most favorite level of the classic Sonic games =D
Also, the chests look awesome. Sorry to hear about the pistons although honestly I don't mind the current ones; they look mechanical and seem to fit with the inherent aspect of what a piston is.
It's a shame that there can't be different textures for dirt, etc. based on biomes or we could have each biome based on a level.
@Sirrusfox
yea... see at first I was thinking of making the biomes so that it would gradually go from a brown dirt and the regular neon green grass (Green Hill) and then have it fade into blue dirt and the regular neon green grass (Hill Top). I may be able to make this possible in the future and it would be pretty cool (I'd have to find new lapis textures though) as nobody (that I have seen) has done this yet.
@TheTruthOfPerfection
Jesus. You have some impressive and really quite vivid ideas. I can probably make some of the things you say happen too! So they're realistic too... You should send me a message with your ideas so they aren't totally public, I'll have to put your name somewhere on this pack too.
And as for image editing software, I really like editing. I use paint.net for simple things and cs5 for more complex things like making graphics seamless. Its really easy to learn if you wanted to help me by any chance or if you wanted to make your own perfect pack! :smile.gif:
I actually took a class for CS4 a while back, but I've pretty much forgotten everything I learned in the class. But more importantly, I really don't have the patience to constantly make updates for something like a texture pack or a mod, unless it's something I could really devote myself to. I love the idea of having the Sonic Vintage pack, but I'd probably lose interest if I had to work on it every single day. :sad.gif:

@TheTruthOfPerfection
Would it be a problem to go with the "boring" background image in Lava Reef zone as the netherrack? Because anything else seems to give me tiling problems, or it isn't a cube.
I also found a new glowstone texture there and I redid the sand. Soul sand is now the "quicksand" from Sandopolis and Sand is the hourglass sands from the same zone.
I also put the BBcode for the Sonic Vintage button on the original post for anyone who wants to support! :smile.gif:

Absolutely right. That's why I try to just do little by little, that way eventually it WILL get done, and when it updates I just use that momentum to keep at it. And I am far from being a no life, I only work on this maybe 3 days of the week and about 1 or 2 hours of those days, so I'd say that I can probably have a sizable update every Monday.
No, that would be a common error when using a texture pack with a HD resolution (32x and up). Please download MCpatcher and that should fix your problem.
lol. I had that problem with Dokucraft. instead of water, the blocks said "noob use the patcher".
In any case, I only have 1 or 2 ideas for texture swaps of some things that are already planned, so I'll just keep quiet until I think of something more useful. I'm currently testing out the Beta version of Rangecraft, so I might stay quiet on this thread for a day or three. I will be considering new texture possibilities even if I don't speak, so you don't have to worry about that.

Do you mean option 1, or 3? I can imagine 3 giving you trouble, so I will assume you meant 1. It's good for now, but personally, I will think of it as a placeholder until we can figure out how to get past the tiling problems. Glad to see you found a better Glowstone texture, that was the next thing I was going to go for. Stone should be the next texture we aim to fix, considering how often it is seen.
I have ideas for a texture swap of ghasts, and obsidian, but since what is planned/already there is decent, I won't mention either until the textures for ALL the blocks are at least decent.
ALSO. I will remove my big idea from this thread, and give it back to you as a message, so it isn't so much of a spoiler.

Ok, in the next update for this pack, There will be new Glowstone, Soulsand, Netherrack, lava, portal, torch, and weird grass top patch thing that seems to have no use yet (so I have no idea why I took the time).
All of the above graphics that I changed were strongly recommended to me by TheTruthOfPerfection, if there is any TRUE sonic fan, it is you. :smile.gif:
The new torches in my opinion look great. Really great. It's the torches that when you pull the bar down in Sandopolis zone the seem to catch fire and then gradually dim down.
I have added to the items.png in the gui so that when you mine a "diamond ore" you get a chaos emerald (the cyan one).
I added new particals for smoke and made a "ember" like fire animation so that it matches the new torches as well as look decent with the current furnace and mobspawner.
I'm just gonna leave the stuff I was casually making in 16x here your welcome to use it with credit.
Terrain:
Eggman/Robotnik(Spit)
And look! Grabber from Chemical Plant Zone!:
Pretty much made from scratch, with the sprite as a rough reference.
(He glows red at night.)
Also the Megadrive worked in 16x16 tiles too, it was a 16-bit system which has nothing to do with graphics.
Well when I had posted the post that I did earlier, I was just relating to the fact that the SEGA Genesis was a 32-bit system and also used 32x32 tiles. :smile.gif:
The Grabber, is perfect! Though I may want to make my own to resemble the ones in Chemical Plant zone a bit more, and also I would rather this be a complete self made pack! I'm sorry if maybe I offended you, that's not the fact at all.

FIXED:
-Netherrack (well I kind of added it, but it was so bad before that I consider this a "fix" lol)
-Soulsand
-Glowstone
-Sand
ADDED:
+Torches
+New Lava
+Pointless grass square that seems to have zero use yet
+New custom smoke/fire graphics (will work on them even more)
And remember, any recommendations? Don't be afraid to say anything please!
Good job!
Sonic style!
I approve!
So many memories...
Nostalgia...
