And @SPITFIRE118xxx,
I will have minimal reference to the new games (partially because I dislike them [sorry] but also because I'm trying to keep this vintage pack literally vintage :smile.gif:)
Also would like to say that I will use the requested ideas in the future:
+Putting characters faces on the wool, but it will be textured to look woven
+Spider mob will be textured to look like "Grabber" the $#!% annoying spider badnik from Sonic 2's Chemical Plant zone
+Sonic Spinball's mine cart will be (can you guess?) the mine cart.
If I have missed anything that you have requested, please just message me. I take all requests into consideration, but I cannot ensure anything as I must think of what the minecraftforum.net community, as a whole, would want.
I had an idea for monster spawners; the storage unit that you bust open at the end of a level that has animals inside of it. The logic behind this is in Flying Battery Zone in Sonic and Knuckles Robotnik hid badniks inside them.
You see when I said I wanted logic, I wasn't being too strict on the fact. It's a great idea by the way! I was just stating that I wouldn't want like, say a cloud, to be a cactus. I just want it to be a pack where Sonic fans can enjoy it as well as people who never played sonic to be able to try it and not get *completely* lost, you see? :smile.gif:
You know how you made diamonds look like invincibility TVs? I think the current chest texture is decent, but have you considered using Ring TVs? Rings and Chaos Emeralds are really the only things you can collect in the Vintage Sonic games, and the TVs represent having items inside.
About the Portal coding, I haven't really looked, but has no one made a mod that makes the 6 portal blocks into 1, like the double chests yet? That's quite surprising. If someone makes it, then you would only have to make the texture pack meant to work with that. I'm sure lots of people would like, and use that if it were made into a mod. I'll somehow make it a suggestion if no one is working on something like that. I don't know enough about coding yet to do it myself.
Edit: I know you haven't been going after mobs much, but I have a great idea for Ghasts! Robotnik's Flying machine-thingy that he rides around in! You can even choose between having Robo-Robotnik, Robotnik, and Metal Sonic as riders!(best to have only 1 for the text pack, just saying we have 3 choices for which one we want in the text pack)
I really like this this texture pack. Not only does it look good, it's the only one that doesn't slow my computer down! Literally, the fastest texture pack out there!
The possibilities of the past and future are as various as our imaginations. How far we can think, and what we can think of, is dependent on each of us, and what we believe in.
The cobblestone is the purple stone from Marble Garden zone on SONIC the Hedgehog 1. And wow... photobucket... "-.-...
Well it's pretty weird stone changes from beige to purple when broken... May I suggest changing cobble to that of the Hidden Palace from Sonic 2? Or maybe the background from Hydrocity or Aquatic ruins? And also Maybe iron block Could be from the Chemical Plant? Oh and final idea the chest should be normal but with sonic's sprite on the front, and sonics, tails, knuckle sprites on the front of a double chest.
@TheTruthOfPerfection
I respect your idea and I have decided to scratch the invincibility stars, BUT keep the box with now, a Chaos emerald on it (and obviously IN it). Since you stated that box are known for having things in them and the emeralds are the only things you can actually collect. (Sorry to hear about that flood by the way :S)
The mod, if you can get it to work by requesting or just by yourself, I will gladly provide graphics to support it.
And Ghasts... okay. It is now on my to-do list. But I think I will make the base/original pack have Robotnik on it.
But let me just ask, to clarify... this is what you were talking about, right?
Oh and indeed. Tis' SONIC fast. :biggrin.gif:
@IronWaffle
First of all, wicked name :smile.gif:
Okay now business... I'd first like to say that when I said Marble Garden zone I meant "Marble zone" sorry sometimes I get those mixed up. And secondly you are absolutely right about the cobblestone. I just felt like I needed a more "widespread" area of graphics so people couldn't say "put more (vintage SEGA classic here) graphics!" but I think I will use your suggestion and set the Aquatic Ruins zone texture for cobblestone!
The iron blocks actually were already from Chemical Plant zone, but recent suggestion, I changed them to a graphic found in Wing Fortress zone and I like it more, but it is very similar to that found in Chemical Plant zone anyways.
The chest I still am unsure about, everyone seems energetic about giving me ideas and for that I am incredibly grateful, but I think I'll keep thinking about it. And please do not be alarmed about the current chest graphic, it is DEFINITELY not a "keep" graphic. :smile.gif:
I love your support and I hope I continue seeing it! :smile.gif:
You know you could set the pink wool with the current cobble texture pack. And you need to make a fast graphics leaves. Playing on fast with the current leaves you can actually see through the map, and can be used to cheat much like a see-through texture pack. You can't find ores but you can find caves, see mobs, and just looks weird.
@TheTruthOfPerfection

That is indeed what I was talking about for the Ghasts. I don't know about the spawning area ghasts need, but if their tentacles are part of the spawn area, and their actual body, and you need something similar in there, you can use the wire/zapper things robotnik used on Knuckles when stealing the Master Emerald in Sonic & Knuckles. I'd provide a pic, but I can't find one that will let me copy the image location.
Also, I remember from that Tails only game, that one of the items in the inventory was Napalm/Firebomb. This might be what we're looking for to use as flint & steel.
P.S. that flood happened in 2005. I've gotten the Sonic Mega Collection for the GameCube since then. Speaking of which, I also had the Sonic Gems collection at some point, and the Tails only game I was talking about was in it.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
The possibilities of the past and future are as various as our imaginations. How far we can think, and what we can think of, is dependent on each of us, and what we believe in.
The Sonic Gems Collection contained some of the more obscure Sonic titles, hence the reason you couldn't find it on google. On a side note, it also contained the 2 vectorman games.
It really is quite a bit more fun than you would think, considering the video. I have no idea what's going on in the first half of the video. The 2nd half is where the actual game starts.
The name of the game is Tails Adventures. After seeing the video, I remember how bad the graphics were. Also, would this even be considered a Sonic Vintage title? I didn't even consider that while making suggestions from it. I was too focused on improving the texture pack.
I know what you said previously about not wanting metal stuff on pistons because the recipe uses wood, but sometimes, you find something just too good to pass up. The only problem with this one is, I'm not sure how it would work out when pistons are placed vertically.
Edit: I like the current pistons, too. I would ask you to keep their texture for future versions of the texture pack.

Well that and I can use Paint.net to make it look like wood. Like currently you said you wanted Obsidian to be more a
solid black like it should be, so brightness/contrast'd it and its much better. The chest sucked. Ohhh boy it sucked. So I got MUCH better textures for it. Problem was that they were from Hydrocity zone (suggestion) so I just edited the palette and now it is really wonderful (I really think everyone will be MUCH happier with this new chest).
As for the pistons, I'm not sure. If I can find somewhere what the top of a spring looks like, I will try to to what is in the image you provided. I will not edit the colors much because two iron ingots are included in the crafting formula, so the metallic look to it, it understandable.
For the Tails Adventures item sprites... I want vintage sonic games but so long its closely related (and.. you know... vintage...) I will not mind adding in (very few) things from them. I want this to be nostalgia as stated above but I still need to be able to complete this. And remember! If I cannot find sprites specifically for this, I will gladly create my own, this is not even a slight problem.
I still appreciate everyone being considerate, as well as making suggestions, thanks! :smile.gif:
Woa perfect man, I'll get on my emu and get some screenies to fit the pistons the best I can. I may not be able to update the pistons in the update I have scheduled for tonite though.
UPDATED
-------
I am sorry to say that the spring pistons will not be possible as the box itself is 32x32 and the spring (a totally different tile) is 28x7. Combining the two looked mashed or unfulfilling to the eyes. :sad.gif:
FIXED:
-Much too light obsidian
-The bush texture is now in the correct block in the terrain.png
ADDED:
+Grass textures, self designed but still faithful to the Sonic-y and straightforward textures
+Tilled dirt designed and working well
+A much better chest (and double chest) texture
+Cobblestone now makes sense (thank you for the suggestion! :smile.gif:)
Just downloaded the update, and it looks much better. Well done, Affinite.
Not sure if it's possible, since they're so thin, but could you make pressure plates look like those buttons you step on to open doors? There were a number of them throughout the Sonic games.
Since the vintage Sonic games were all 2D, this might be the closest thing we can get to boats. I don't really remember anything else that had the proper shape to use as boats. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/snKGTNwXotc/0.jpg
Edit: Could you provide an image for the spring pistons you made? I've never touched any image editing software before, but I'm sure there must be a way to make it work. We're here to help, we shouldn't give up on a good idea until we've exhausted all possible options.

Yes sure, I didn't save it or anything so give me a while to remake it.
The pressure plates, unfortunately in the terrain.net are based off of their equivalent media (EX. Wooden pressure plates have the same texture as wood, stone pressure plates hav...).
The idea for signs is great, I hadn't thought of that yet, thanks much!
Boats, this may be the only thing to make them out of. Unless they're are a wooden cart or something that I could try to take from 3D blast, then I think its my only option I can remember that is boat resembling.

I know the leaves pretty much are terrible and I will in the future completely redo them.
@TheTruthOfPerfection
If you could find the name of that game, you'd be a lifesaver, I can't find it on google to save my life. :smile.gif:
Back on to topic, though, it was only for Sega Game Gear, until it was put in the collection.
Click here to see a video of it.

Edit2: I made a request for the portals merging effect. If you show your face here, more people will see it, and thus, more likely to get modded. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/428665-request-merging-portal-blocks/page__p__5920430#entry5920430

Yes, you absolutely can! :smile.gif: I hope it has the gen-like physics too! Unlike sonic 4 on the wii... failed imo...
