Sonic the Hedgehog was always a game I enjoyed, so one day, I thought I'd look for a Sonic pack online!
Little did I know... that all that was online, sucked. And it sucked bad... The unfocused, pixel scattered
textures of some of these packs really just about made me punch my Monitor... It really disappointed me that
so many people didn't know that SEGA was a 32bit system. So many Sonic packs made with 16bit resolution.
IDIOTS. So I decided to make/forge my own.
This will be a... wait not "a"
*er-hem*
"THE" Sonic the Hedgehog Vintage Texture pack for Minecraft!
NOTE: I am currently NO LONGER using Vattic's Faithful 32x32 to overwrite, any textures unassociated with sonic the hedgehog, I did not create, Sonic the Hedgehog is a trademark for SEGA, I made this as a tribute to remember those great classics that we
all enjoyed at one time or another.
I will be continuously updating this, but please realize... this is currently only about 11 or 12 percent done... But I will be updating this every other day or so, to keep all the other Sonic fans, like myself, happy!
Don't you just love the ironic TNT? Took me quite the while to make!
The ores...
Coal- Random rock found in the "mineshaft" 2P racing minigame in Sonic 3 (&Knuckles). (black and white'd, as well as brightness and contrast'd)
Iron- Lol its some spikes.
Gold- A fossilized ring.
Redstone- I though hard for a while and I figured the spring is red, and it really gets sonic moving... PERFECT!
Lapis- A blue pole found in Hilltop zone (Sonic 2)
Diamond- Yes. It is a frikin invincibility box.
The various artwork I applied to the kz.png, 32x at its best. =)
You know what... now that you mention it, I think I'll switch the orange stone out for the bedrock, because they were both from Marble Garden zone but for some reason, I just used the orange one. Thank you, will fix =)
for the wool i was thinking you could put picks of the game characters like blue wool = Sonic
red wool = knuckles
yellow wool = tails
black wool = shadow etc.
Unfortunately its this one, or the other. I personally like the orange color of the stone, as it doesn't affect any necessary instances within the game, but please can I have your opinion? Is this stone better?
Also, mushrooms are from Mushroom Hill zone in Sonic and Knuckles! =D
Oh yes and @chaoticsmasher
Brilliant idea, I think I will do that, but it won't be like a solid image, it will be made(ish) to look like its all 1 color and one material (if that makes any sense).
sorry to bump
Is the newer stone any better then the older orange stone though?
The new stone is great.
But wouldn't it be a bit smarter to make the diamond a chaos emerald or whatever they're called? Or maybe make all the ores different variations of those.
Well as you mine the monitor, you get a chaos emerald. I thought of that too and actually its a better idea. I think I'll put the Invincibility monitor as the a small painting (with the remainder of the power monitors). Thanks for the tip! :laugh.gif:
Well I've thought about it and a lot of things in this pack will not make complete sense, but you should be able to relate to things and realize whats what. Its not too bad at that. But I think I want to leave the diamond texture as the Invincibility Monitor as when I was a kid and I found one, I would always get so excited and in the process I would always make those 20 seconds of power last!
Lol this is just my preference but a lot of things in Minecraft just don't make sense anyways. For instance, you make a crafting table of 4 wooden planks. Where does the cloth on top come from? Where does the metal saw and pliers on the sides come from? My point is, its not perfect, but I WILL try to make this, more professionally done then the rest of the packs out there. I'm tired of seeing peoples attempts, so I will take these matters in my hands and customize them to make enough sense to satisfy, but not enough sense to satisfy a physicist. You see now?
I'm not trying to be too serious about this or whatever, its just a texture pack, I know :laugh.gif: . I thank everyone for your tips!
Bedrock, Obsidian, and smoothstone, these all came from Marble Garden zone.
Current sandstone in the pack (not in any of the pics) is from a racing 2P minigame in Sonic 2 (I think...) and it doesn't look too bad at all... If you want, I'll just post the terrain.png.
Well you just solved my iron block problem! I was using a not terrible but not too good graphic from Chemical Plant zone... This is a much better idea though. :smile.gif:
