Have you actually enabled java to use those 8gigs?
There are some tutorials in th web about "Java environments Minecraft" and _JAVA_OPTIONS_ or something like that.
It's useless to have 8gigs of ram without telling the programs that they can make use of it. :smile.gif:
AND! the run.bat program I THINK it only uses like 2-4gb you can also try modifiyng the file with notepad and set the values to 7G
But I find the JAVA_OPTIONS_ to be more reliable

I use mcpatcher and tried doing the java thing in there for like 3 gigs and 4 gigs and 5 gigs.
nothing.
For the record, 32-bit Java won't use that much memory. Since Minecraft uses that version by default you'll need to make sure you have the 64-bit version installed and then create a batch file to run it through the 64-bit version of Java.
Here are the contents of the batch file I'm currently using. It utilizes 2 gigs of ram and runs the 128x version of the texture pack on my computer flawlessly.
@echo off
path=%PATH%;"%Program Files%\Java\jre6\bin"
java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar minecraft_server.jar
Please note that the location of your Java program may be in a separate location if you are using an OS other than Windows 7.

For the record if I correct you it's not meant maliciously, but if you whine about it I AM laughing at you.

I am using a 64 bit OS so I did manually install 64 bit java for when I used one of the realism texture packs and had it set to use 2 gigs.
I can currently run the 128 flawlessly as well with a fresh install of MC and designated no extra ram.
I absolutely love the texture pack, definitely my default. And the sheer epicness of having most all of my mods covered by it is icing on the top. Seriously, thanks for such a great pack.
I'd also like throw in my vote for an alternate stone brick texture when you have the time/inclination. The default minecraft stone brick texture is one of the few I like (with the large, slab-like look). I'd love to see something similar to that as an alternative. Perhaps similar-ish to the RP2 marble brick texture that Ruyan created (I believe). If anyone knows of an alternative, please point me in its direction and promptly ignore this :biggrin.gif:
I made some custom_terrain_XX animations for Glowstone and the Jack-O-Lantern that I thought I'd share and get some more interest in helping/inspiring Sphax.
The glowstone has a fast pulse going up to its default brightness while the Jack-O-Lantern has a pulse of about 1 second that lingers on the default "lit" Jack-O-Lantern texture. Since the textures don't fully loop, you need a *.properties file for the textures so they animate the rest of the loop.

I don't think the jack o lantern should pulse like the glowstone. It should really flicker since candles don't pulse.
I tried to make a more random-looking pattern (since it has to repeat anyway) so it would look like a flickering candle, but since the initial values I was starting from were pretty much "lit" and "unlit", pulsing slowly was about the best I could do. The contrast of the "block-on-fire" animation is too red/orange to use behind the Jack-O-Lantern face but maybe the "fire" particle with a varying yellow outer glow might work. I might give it a try later.

You have to use the MCPatcher first, get it here:

Nice! Thanks mate.
Intel i7-2600k 3.40

gtx 580 2 gig card
Why can I not run this thing on 512x512?
Downloaded the newest mcpatcher
java 64bit
tried the .bat file which lets it RUN barely.

trust me you only need that .bat file ... 4gb is plenty to run 512x tp and glsl with sonic ethers shader.

Just use 128/256?
512 isn't THAT different ;D
Thats not the point right now.
My system is MORE than capable of running 512+ and it isn't.

Thanks again!
So to recap, are you following the instructions on the FAQ with the bat file and launching it through the bat file?
Any other method might not be working.

They look like this, only in 256x:
This is So cool Testing it out now. :3

I thought you might dig it— definitely one of my favorite of your all your mob skins. Hope you don't mind me using it here.
