By the way, I'm going to upload the first video of a let's play series I'm making (on survival island) using this texture pack. Be sure to check it out!
Is there some reason you guys aren't really interested in this pack? Are some of the textures not 'exciting' enough? Do you just want to see more textures? Even if you think this pack isn't up to scratch, PLEASE give me some feedback on what to do. It's very upsetting to have put so much time and effort into this for it to just be ignored. It's not THAT bad, is it?
...yeah. I'm not sure why no one gives a f*** about these textures, but I don't think I'll wring my soul out any more by continuing to post updates unless I see a sudden upswing in interest.
Don't discontinue this pack! I'll tell you why. First of all, you have a very cool concept that is very well done from what I've seen. I find it really cool and intriguing. You actually managed to make Minecraft remind me a ton of those old Indiana Jones movies.
In addition, you can't just give up because you "don't have enough interest". Look at my first thread, and you can see that I was just starting out, I wasn't very sure what I was doing, but as I kept going at it, even when I had barely 1 page of comments. Now, I don't have a super famous pack or anything, but there are more people interested in my work, my work itself has gotten a lot better, and I even got put in charge of Last Days! I'm sure if you keep going at it, eventually you will have a pack that plenty of people use and enjoy. You can't just give up right away.
As for that review, I'll get it up as soon as get a chance to play around with it a little longer.
And if I didn't make it very clear, I love this pack! :wink.gif:

Haha, thanks, that perked me up. I'm sorry if I sound a little whiny-- I know I'm probably overreacting, but sometimes I just want to scream when I see how successful all the super-simple (and, in my opinion, not very good) packs are. Or how successful all the Doku remixes are. (It's not even original work, for crying out loud!)
But you're right. I just need to keep at it, and hope that I do eventually get some little amount of notoriety.

(Love your pack, BTW)
Oh, its no problem, I often feel the exact same way, and I rarely go on those threads because they always put a damper on my mood :dry.gif: . Anyways, I might try downloading one of those adventure maps to test this out on, since it seems perfect for that!
Don't discontinue it! It's such an awesome pack ;-;
The only thing I suggest changing is the brightness on the trees. They're a wee bit dark. Other than that, it's ****ing awesome.

That's what I use it for too. I've always been more of an adventurer than a builder, anyway.

Yeah, I've noticed that about the trees too as I've been playing around with it. I'll probably change them for the next update.
Don't give up! Don't be discouraged because your pack isn't getting zillions of hits yet, the date says June 08, 2011. It's only June 11th. This post hasn't even been up a week! It's a beautiful pack, you just have to remember that there are hundreds of other packs out there and that sometimes people will not choose yours. Or sometimes, people WILL choose yours but not comment on it (annoying, but it's the truth!).
Give your pack time, don't give up on it so quickly. :smile.gif: Let people know that you're really into what you're doing with it and keep working at it, the longer it's available to people - the more people will see it. If you just let it die now, it'll never be what it could have if you had continued it.
I personally love this pack and have downloaded it, it's super cool for adventure maps. Lots of people seem to agree with that so maybe you should market it that way. Go download a few adventure maps and load it up and take some screenshots to show people! Add a cool tagline like: "The #1 Adventure Map Texture Pack!". Give it a reputation that nothing else here has! :biggrin.gif:

I know, I'm an overreacting crybaby XP. Just the fact that so many of you want me to continue has motivated me to work on the next update-- you'll notice that it no longer says 'possibly discontinue' at the top :smile.gif:
The adventure pack tagline is a good idea. I already use it for adventure packs (I love exploring and fighting monsters) and I think it works really well for that sort of setting. I just need to advertise it for that purpose!
Again, thanks for your support. People like you make all the sweat and tears worthwhile.

No worries! I know how you feel, heh. When you have a pretty piece of artwork that you finally let others see and not everyone jumps to love on it immediately or (heavens forbid) someone criticizes it you go into immediate mama bear mode and either defend it or break down and think you're not nearly good enough for human eyes.
Ok, so here is my review! This is my first review, so don't expect too much! Now, get ready for the badly written WALL OF TEXT! :tongue.gif:
I created a new world for this pack and was immediately plopped on a huge tropical beach. Even with the lighter blue colors the water looked looked warm and inviting. The sand was wonderfully whitish and clean, and gave the beach/desert an "unexplored" look. I looked around the beach for a little while before I ran into some cacti and some sort of thorny bush. The textures were very well done and matched the sand perfectly. As I starting moving onto grass, I appreciated the side grass, which had the appearance of being wild and overgrown. And as I moved further into the mainland the colors became more vibrant and I spotted exotic plants such as the venus flytrap. With a few trees surrounding me, it almost felt as though I was in a jungle. I began to gather some wood. The bark and stump texture are pretty generic, but nice nonetheless. I use the wood I create to make some planks and then a crafting bench. The crafting bench is very cool, and I spent a while admiring it. The bench looks like some sort of shipping crate with a crude map thrown on top and tools suspended from hinges on the sides. I make myself a pickaxe and collect some stone from a nearby cliff. I instantly fall in love with the cobble and build a small house out of it and some wood. I punch a few sheep, chop down some more trees and complete my small shack. It looks like a small base of operations on an archeological dig. The overall feeling of this pack is incredible, it just makes you want to go out and have an adventure! Now I'm going to switch to another review form.
Pros
- All environmental blocks look great and work great with the overall feeling of the pack.
- Building blocks, especially cobble, look great.
- The ores/smelted ore blocks are very cool and add to the theme.
- Wildgrass/bushes/flytrap are very nice and make the pack feel a lot lusher.
- Function blocks, such as chests and crafting benches are awesome!
- Water looks tropical and warm.
- Overall feeling is wonderful.
Cons
- Trees are a just a bit too bright
- Brich trees look nice, but a little too much like camo for my taste.
- Some wools are a little too bright/vibrant.
- No GUI/items yet :sad.gif:
Well... I hope you enjoyed my bad (you don't have to lie, it was pretty bad) review! I hope you get many more! :biggrin.gif: Good reviews that is!

Actually, that was a very nice review. I liked the narrative beginning-- everything you described is exactly what I'd hoped to create, which is great.
I agree with you about the camo trees-- I probably need to make them more subtle and 'tree-like'.
But what do you mean about the trees being too 'bright'?
Thanks!

You should have called this lara craft. :biggrin.gif:
Oh, that's clever. Maayybee just a little bit cheesy, though.
Glad you like!
