Basically i've got a texture pack that i really like, however, i really don't like the gold, iron and diamond blocks. I just wanted to replace them with the textures from the default pack. How can i do this?

This tutorial is for Windows 7, I don't know how it'll work on other OS.
Download (if you don't have one already) a photo editing software that can handle transparency, like Photoshop, don't use Microsoft Paint. paint.net is pretty good for a free one. Use WinRAR (or download it if you don't have it) to go to the AppData of Minecraft, go to texture packs, then to the one you want to change. Find the file labeled "terrain.png", it's probably at the bottom of the texture pack folder, and then use the editing software to alter the parts you want to save. You could also copy and paste one from the default texture pack, if you open that up. Hope it helps.
