Lol yeah I took those earlier this morning then had to go to the store. Can't wait till you fix it up for 1.5!
Yea, hopefully it shouldn't be too long xD
There will be some cool new additions in the next update like the armour. It looks amazing!
Might have the wolf re-skinned too!
OH, haha. Sorry! Should never have doubted your replying skills!
Haha, they're pretty legendary
@Everyone, working on getting the pack updated!
Pulling an all nighter with my friend (it's 3:10 here in Aus) but not exactly working on the pack at the moment... Will be done tomorrow though!
Also, when it's completely done, I'd like to make an adventure map with this theme, so if anyone is interested on working on that with me, or has any ideas etc, just post here or message back.
If this is alright with OP of course!
That's 110% alright with me because I like the idea!
Free publicity! :tongue.gif: (and hopefully a sweet map to play!)

Hopefully :tongue.gif: my first map got good reviews, and I'm currently working on a mirror's edge one, but I should be finished with that soon.
Ohh, could you possibly PM me a link to the first map? I would love to try it! :biggrin.gif:
1.5 is looking slick! xD
although have to update pack but then it will be up i swear it be true
:biggrin.gif: 1.5!!!
Haven't personally played it myself but I watched my friend play it for a bit. Can't wait to try it!!!
Nice vid too, I think I might subscribe :wink.gif:
Ahh, sorry for the double post, but the side textures off the grass blocks are all the textures for bleeding obsidian.\
I realize this is a problem with the new sidegrass fix and the texture pack mixing, so don't think this is the noob message of "OMG THIS ISNT WORKING TEXUTRES ARE MESSED UP OMG FIX YOU CANT MAKE TEXTURE PACKS"
No, This is just me saying I'm eagerly awaiting your update.
Not a criticism, just an observation, but Japanese cherry trees (sakura) have white blossoms, not pink. You may have mixed them up with Ume trees; they blossom a bit earlier and are indeed a reddish pink. So, you could call them plum trees instead of cherry; change the color to white, or add another tree type so we get both :smile.gif:

*hides away in shame*
I was planning on adding some white to the biomes at some stage though!

Don't worry, fixing it now. This release also includes ALL the armour re-skinned as samurai/ninja armour. Won't have any screenshots BUT it looks amazing. We can thank dorian858 for all his hard work on that!
All I did was re-colour some stuff!

Ok everyone, uploading it now!
I've been doing everything from my netbook so there won't be any pictures unfortunately. When you get the update, could someone please get pics of the armour? :biggrin.gif: It really is amazing!

I had a thought on what you could do with flowers.
You could make one of them a tsubaki?
So purty! :biggrin.gif:
I actually have camelia's in my back yard that look almost identical to them! That's another great idea Shadow, thanks!
This texture pack has really inspired me. I've done some building and made some custom alterations to the texture pack which I feel are improvements that make the pack more authentic.
XSSheep, if you'll accept them, I can upload the altered files for you to incorporate as you see fit.
One thing I would like to see is the addition of roof tiles and thatch, but I don't know of any good way to accomplish that because I really want to have half-block and stair versions of those textures (a'la wood or stone) so that a proper slope could be achieved. Some sort of red-painted wood block is also needed to accurately depict a lot of temple and shrine architecture.
I'd also like to suggest that you change the paintings to more traditional screens, Buddhist imagery, and sumi-e as opposed to photographs, modern art, and random kanji. I attempted to add high resolution paintings myself, but they caused my game to crash. I'm fairly new to Minecraft, so there may be a way to use low resolution textures with high resolution paintings that I simply do not know. If anyone knows a workaround please let me know.
Finally, I'd really like to see a 32px or 64px version of this pack in the future. I know I've said a lot, but Great work thus far.
Buddhist Temple -- Work In Progress
Major New/Changed Textures
Sandstone -- White plaster
Glass -- slatted windows. I feel that these are much more authentic than the ones included in the original pack.
Metal Door -- Heavy wooden door
Jack-o-Lantern -- Paper lantern
Light blue, blue, purple, and light purple wool -- Properly sized tatami mats. Tatami mats are approximately 180cm x 90 cm in real life (though they differ by region), so 1 block should be about half a mat. I left the tatami tile in the original file unaltered, but i the mats are so small they look ridiculous.
This texture pack is the definition of epic. I've been using iit from the first release, and have been wondering if anyone knows a Japanesey-themed server that I could use this on. Does anyone have a server? Please tell me.
Great job though.
Excellent.
Thanks! I would help out but I rarely play multiplayer so I have NO idea if an asian themed server even exists, sorry. :|

ok i was playing on my show save for this texture pack (not for buildings but for items)
and i made some pics of all types armour u guys already know leather so i leave it away
-snip-
@xxxsheep nice recoloring with the diamond i love diamond ninja XD
i got a idea for iron i like the black but the yellow is a bit wierd on it and the black pearl on his shoulders and on his back and legs should have another color
Yea, I thought I actually changed the yellow bit for Iron but I guess I forgot... Oh well, I'm at home now so it's a lot easier to test and change textures around. I'll get to work on the iron!

Thats a great idea! The wooden practice swords were just bundles of bamboo sticks fashioned into a sword shape, right? I can do my best to make them!
The tatami floor ATM is yellow wool :tongue.gif: I already have wool and there really isn't anywhere else to put it! The red wool is the rice paper walls. I made them red and yellow so they are still easily accessible at the start of the game. (as you can see from my little house. Thats just before sunset on my first day! :biggrin.gif:)
I am not entirely sure, but I think those are shinai (used in Kendo) and bokken are more commonly solid wood, oak and hickory-wood.
though I guess it's a matter of how strict you interpret the various terms. :tongue.gif:
bokutō (japanska 木刀), kidachi (japanska 木太刀). Suburitō (japanska 素振り刀), suburi (japanska 素振り) are other names/terms used for them.
Me likey though, might very well start using this (though my buildings are usually more medevial european style, not very good at making asian architechture :/ )
Yea, well at the moment the wooden sword is just a carved stick in the shape of a katana with no hand guard. I actually quite like it though so it's probably going to stay that way! :biggrin.gif:
I also had to make another save JUST for this texture pack. I'm trying to make asian style buildings, but I just ain't very good at them! At least not compared to some of the amazing builds people have posted in this thread... Practice makes perfect though!

BTW ppl if u want his wolfs he added as test but they are very cool u should delete the s from mobs and u have a epic wolf (it was a anime one i thought)
Yea, I should really fix that :|
Can't believe I forgot for version 0.7! Oh well. Thanks for reminding me! :smile.gif:

*Licks lips* DELICIOUS, CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AND FEEDBACK! :biggrin.gif:
You sir, have just helped this pack improve a tremendous amount. I really like what you're doing with the temple! Looks fabulous!
I do really like the blocks you've made as well! Will definitely include them somewhere with full credit to you! The tatami block I was actually just really lazy with :tongue.gif: I know that 1 block is perfect for half a tatami mat, but I wanted to make sure I had enough space in the wool area to include all the textures I wanted first. I do still have some space though so I'll whip up some proper tatami and post some pictures!
If there was one thing I wouldn't include though, It would be the lantern (pumpkin?) with the Buddhist peace symbol on it. I have an idea for that AND no offence to anyone, but it seems like most people in the forum would mistake that as the Nazi symbol and mass flaming would begin :|
Those doors look amazing though. I was wondering what I should do for Iron (was thinking a big old jade door, but it's Chinese, not Japanese) although I think your door is the answer!
I'll see what I can do about the paintings too. Only thing that was hard was finding paintings that would actually resize ok, because most just became a blurred mess...
Thanks a lot for the feedback though, I will get to work straight away! :biggrin.gif:
(If you wouldn't mind, could you send me the door in a PM? [the button underneath my avatar i'm pretty sure] I really love it and if I included it, I would give you full credit in the OP for it!)
Ok everyone!
I've made quite a few new blocks, lots of alternates!
There is now an alternate 'torch' lantern, couple of red wood alts, proper sized tatami mats, white cloth is now a bit smoother so it looks like plaster! There are also 4 more glass alts and a new default glass (alts are mostly different coloured slatted windows)
Because of some of these things, I've had to re-arrange the wool's a bit. The old tatami flooring (yellow wool) is now red wood which would look amazing in many buildings, shrines especially. Blue, light blue, purple, light purple are now all different tatami. The blue's are horizontal tatami (each wool block is half a tatami mat) and the purple's are vertical tatami. I only have 1 more space left in the wools before they start to be one you can find on sheep. Don't really want to change these because who wants wooden slats coming off a sheep? anyway, the greeny blue colour, forgot what it's called exactly so needs to have a texture, so any suggestions would be grand!
I also tweaked the pine sapling because
Here are some pics! (the colour's on almost all of the new things has been changed since these screenies, but meh. You get the idea of the shape and everything!
Torches and red wood
Random wood stuff, windows and new white wool (plaster)
This is a great Texture pack, and I'm just going to say, the terrain is beautiful too. I spent forever looking for something with a good terrain. And now that my pack is patched, I have the beautiful trees and water and lava. You, sir, are good at this.
This reminds me, I had such a good idea for this pack the other night before I fell asleep, but guess what?
Yea, hopefully it shouldn't be too long xD
