yellow hurts my eyes because its so bright

Your hues are super saturated, predominantly primary, and flat shaded. Seems like a recipe for headaches.

In itself, it could be a good idea. But, all the bright colors come together and contrast and just hurt everyones eyes. Maybe if you made things a bit darker it would be easier to look at.

Darker value alone isn't going to fix the saturation levels. Look up color theory and hue, saturation and value. Your work will get better, promise.
