How did you manage to get custom water/lava/portals to work? mine are just in the terrain.png, but ingame it still uses the default versions instead of those from the texturepack :sad.gif:
dunno about that one... I use the custom_water_still.png etc for all my animated stuff

1) After installing GLSL shader then applying new patcher, HD Texture is greyed out.
2) First applied patch with both options on, then installed GLSL shader. Crash while starting a map

GLSL is a 1.3_01 mod... Minecraft has been updated to 1.4.
Hey guys I'm pretty much a giant moron when it comes to all this .jar stuff.
I have winrar and I can open it and stuff but I'm not seeing the patcher that I'm supposed to use...I used the old one for 1.3 but where is the .exe for this beta patcher? Call me an idiot if you must just include why I'm an idiot in that comment so that I will no longer be one.

Thanks alot!
you double click the mcpatcher jar to run it.. it's just like an exe
Alright my troubles with G's PR earlier were user error, however some texture packs still just don't work.
Examples:
JohnSmithMix 32x
GeruDoku HD 64x
Choosing these textures in the menu after having the default selected does _nothing_, the game loads up with default.
I switched to a working texture pack then to GeruDoku HD, the game crashed with the following output:
setting tile size to 64
opened /mob/sheep.png 128x64 from custom texture pack
opened /mob/spider_eyes.png 128x64 from custom texture pack
opened /terrain/moon.png 512x512 from custom texture pack

I double-checked to ensure they're not zips-within-zips or another PEBKAC on my part.
Yeah I don't use custom_water on my pack, and all I'm getting is the horrid default Minecraft water. Same thing with any other texture pack I've tried. Something I'm doing wrong? Everything else works fine.
This is AWESOME. I like finally being able to use different resolution texture packs interchangeably. This way, I can use my favorite 32x (like Mixcraft), 64x (like Misa's) or 128x packs (Bordercraft FTW) as the mood strikes me.
Thanks so much for the update!

Man, I have no idea how this works (some sort of black magic I'm guessing) but I love it. Being able to change HD packs without having to patch everytime is wonderful!

If you don't use custom_water, then you can't use any custom water. Same goes for lava.

I don't think you understood what I meant. I don't use any custom_waters, I just use the water textures in the terrain.pngs on all the texture packs I use. I had no issues with these with the old HD fix. I don't want to use custom_waters, I just don't want to see the horrid default Minecraft water.

You mean the custom_waters files in the .zip? I'm pretty sure that it is supposed to be required for any custom water to work, at least that's what I thought. I might be wrong, though.
That water texture is just from my terrain.png file, using the old HD fix. My pack uses no custom_water textures, and I was able to view water just fine before, as with any texture pack. The custom_water textures are mostly for animated water effects, etc.

I will release beta2 shortly, which will contain a fix for this and some of the other issues here. Once GLSL shader is updated for 1.4, you should be able to use it with HD Textures.

This is a bug. I misunderstood how custom terrain.png water worked with the old patcher, so the new patcher isn't handling it right. I'll work on fixing it, but in the meantime use the old patcher if you need this feature.

JohnSmithMix 32x
GeruDoku HD 64x

GeruDoku HD works for me. The JohnSmith one is a packaging problem. The zip contains a single folder with everything inside of it. The root of the zip should be terrain.png, gui/, etc. The old patcher was more forgiving about this because it was copying the files into minecraft.jar itself, but the new patcher relies on the way the game loads files from the texture pack, which is more strict about paths.
Wow I'm loving this already, now I can actually switch through all the packs I have without patching or switching pre-patched jars.
One minor annoyance I noticed is that if I open minecraft with a non-default pack selected, it will freeze up and not go past the black screen. Essentially it means i have to switch to default any time I close out minecraft, or I will have to change the pack in options.txt.

Thanks alot chief. BTW, please don't misunderstand my previous post. This fix kicks serious ass; not having to constantly switch back and forth is fantastic. Just wanted to point out the water bug in case it wasn't known.
dunno about that one... I use the custom_water_still.png etc for all my animated stuff
I cannot wait for this :biggrin.gif:
This mod is the best thing known to MAN.
