I just love this shot. It's subject matter is simple and natural, yet so interesting and beautiful. I love coming across landscape features like this. And the composition and tasteful editing seal the deal. Maybe it's just me and my affinity for eroded canyons and arches, but this sort of shot is exactly what I had hoped for when I came up with this contest. Bravo CowThing!
BUT...
I was too impressed with all the entries to give away just one prize. So I've got a surprise for you winners. Not only will the main winner get a prize, everybody who is in the finalist gallery will win the prize! So if you were one of the finalists, get in touch with me via [email protected], give me your mailing address & forum name, and you can expect a print of my Jolicraft illustration shipped to your door for free :smile.gif:
And for those who didn't win but still wanted a print, you can buy a copy of the print through my website www.andrejolicoeur.com (the Jolicraft print is on page 3 of my "art" section). There's lots of other prints for sale up there too, just $10 each with combined shipping, take a look and see if anything tickles your fancy. When you checkout, if you leave a note for me in the "instructions for seller" that you've come from this forum, I'll toss in some free mini-bookmarks.
And that brings another contest to a close. Thanks again to everyone who entered, and stay tuned to this thread for more fun stuff soon :smile.gif:. I'm hoping to have another contest of a different sort in the near future. And we also have the 1.8 update to look forward to. I'm excited to skin the new mobs and blocks, to frolic through npc villages, to traverse dangerous ruins and crevices, and to pee my pants when those skinny endermen fellows come upon me in the darkness.
I'm really happy that picture won. Amazing angle and everything about it was awesome.
edit: I got those 3 prints in a while back, but haven't gotten the chance to frame them. That month we kinda got hit by a tornado and we didn't have power for 2 weeks lol. Still busy doing repairs on our house. I'll take a pic once we get them ready.
Just asking but, would it be possible for you to add the Aether textures to your customizer? I really like the pack and the Aether textures as is, but I think enough people are spending enough time (bloody aechor plants) in the Aether that custom textures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and great pack!
I put them both together, so now I have both the aether and the regular mod packs
all you have to do is open both of the .zips, move the 'aether' file from Aether Jolicraft into the regular Jolicraft texturepack, then open up both 'armor' files, and drag the contents from the Aether Jolicraft into the 'armor' in the regular Jolicraft
I hope the instructions I gave weren't too confusing
I gotta say I was really questionable about this texturepack when I first saw so long ago and I thought to myself "Psh, Minecraft should look realistic not all whimsical and ****." But then 3 of my friends recommended me this texturepack and I decided to try it out and well, I'm addicted now. Everything feels just so Jolicraft-ish I can't explain it. This texturepack is so original, keep up the good work!

This was on my to-do list for some time, but I always got lazy when I sat down to work on some custom clouds. But I finally forced myself to muscle through, and it paid off! I finally have some custom clouds that are all my own.
I tried to make it so every time you played, the clouds added to the randomness of the weather. Some days its sunny & clear, some days it's cloudy, some days it's stormy & overcast, some days the clouds are in wispy strands, sometimes they're in large blobs. Sometimes the clouds are white, sometimes they're blue, and sometimes they're dark and grey. But words are useless, download the 3.8 update, load it up, and take a jog. I hope you enjoy the variation that this will bring to your adventures.

I think we just found Jolicraft's new motto. "Jolicraft: It's all whimsical and ****".
I know I missed the boat on the screenshot contest, but I still wanted to show you guys this lovely little tableau I found.
Ray of hope
It was the first day of a new adventure. I stumbled upon a small cave, and ventured inside to find some coal to guard against the horrors of the night come sundown. But a creeper, one of the vile, dastardly spawn of mutant shrubs, tried to ambush me in the dark, and collapsed the entrance of the cave behind me. Wounded, completely out of raw pork, and with only a wooden pick to my name, I ventured farther into the cave, hoping to find my way out.
I soon discovered, however, that the 'small' cave was not small at all. The entire mountain was hollow! Skeletons assaulted me with a hail of arrows from the steep black slopes, an unseen menace the the pitch black darkness. Zombies groaned all around me, shuffling ever closer to where I stood rooted in fear. I was certain that I was done for, that I would die in the darkness of that infernal cavern.
And that's when I saw it-- a faint sparkle of light from up ahead. I rushed towards it, flinching for the blows of arrows and furiously hacking at the spiders who tried to bar my path. And then, just when I thought that I could run no more, I came upon the most beautiful sight I had even seen-- a tree growing up from the rock, lifting its branches to the brilliant sunlight streaming down from a tiny hole in the side of the mountain.
Ingenious clouds Andre!
I might have to borrow the idea for the long bands of clouds. It's pure awesome!
@Steelfeather: That picture looks flippin' amazing! Great work and a great little story behind it as well. I think it probably would've won on one of the contest days if it was taken earlier but hey, I just found a new wallpaper!
@Drewbie: I love it. Looks awesome. Probably would've used it if I didn't already have a skin that I made myself :tongue.gif:

nice skin mate
What's a skin base? Can't you just grab char.png from jolicraft and start editing?

Looks great! You mind if I include this as an alt in my next release?
