Well, still being a little bored with not having multiplayer working, I decided that I would give a Mario-themed texture pack a shot. I'm sure this has been plenty of times before, but I'm just trying to get a feel for making texture packs, and I'm pretty happy with how it is turning out so far.
Some trees, dirt and stone... Also re-did the GUI. The coins in my inventory are what the iron, gold and diamond bars look like now.
Sand(definitely needs some work), coral as reeds ended up working a lot better than I thought it would and some flowers.
Cobblestone and Mossy stone (Mossy could use some work)
Wood and vine as ladder.
Chest and crafting table. Haven't done the furnace yet. If anybody has any ideas let me know.
These are the ore blocks that you will find while mining. In the finished version I plan on having an alternate terrain.png that uses all the same colour question mark for those who prefer the mystery. :tongue.gif:
Finish off with some shots of saplings, flowers, mushrooms, and a natural cave with some stone and gravel.
I will be more than happy to upload this for anybody that might want to use it when finished but as I said I am very new to making texture packs and whenever I compress the folder where I have everything into a zip and place it in the texturepacks folder it doesn't seem to work in-game, I actually have to go in and replace the image files.
Dang dude, I had been working on a Super Mario Bros. Pack myself! but in secret, hadn't posted it yet. Very similar to yours in that it takes textures strait from SMB.
Oh well, you beat me to it, Looks Good btw :smile.gif:
Whats weird though is that yours looks almost EXACTLY like mine, from the brownified mario ground blocks, to the texture you used for cobblestone. Heck, even the ladders are EXACTLY the same!

mind if I post my terrain.png here?
Haha, nice man, go ahead and post the terrain if you'd like!
That is a little weird that they look almost exactly the same, but I mean.. we were both trying to copy SMB so it kind of makes sense, haha. I've just whipped this up in the past few hours by googling different blocks and items from mostly the NES games and then zooming way in and redoing them pixel by pixel, so I'm pretty sure almost all the textures are exact replicas of SMB textures, but some I kind of had to do my own thing with like the sand and wooden planks.

Ha, I actually got my textures from a site that you can find pixel perfect images of game maps, so I saved all the SMB ones and went from there. basically just copy paste :smile.gif:

There has been a few before, but this one is a nice complete BETA compliant one and I approve!!
and I've seen several Mario Themed ones before, but never of the Original NES/Famicon SMB textures.
My Pokemon bring all the nerds to the yards. Damn right! Mine are better than yours! Damn right! Mine are better than yours! I will trade you, but not my Charizard!
SUGGESTIONS: (Sorry if some of them are already in the pack, or are already suggested)
It looks like you used the grey bricks for smooth stone. I suggest you use the grey version of dirt for smooth stone, and grey bricks for cobblestone.
Also, please make the note blocks the, you guessed it, the note blocks from Super Mario World. The jukebox will look like that too, but you can make a white block with a hole for the jukebox top.
Cactus:
Awesome ideas! I saw this post when you had just suggested changing the dirt, and so I gave it a shot and it definitely looked better. I was already kind of planning on using the jump blocks for note blocks, but got sidetracked on making them so thanks for the reminded on that, and great call on using Pokey as the cactus! I can't believe I never thought of that.
Anybody have any ideas on what to use for the wheat?

sorry, forgot to put it in the last post.
I believe I got the sand looking much better now
Got the water and lava working.
Finally, some new blocks and blocks that I forgot to show before.
Doors, the types of wood, obsidian, a dispenser and mob spawner.
Sandstone and bricks
The different ore blocks
Also, changed up the Mojang logo and main menu
