I really like this idea. Old maps, hanging banners, medieval tapestry, and some misc. decorations like gargoyle knockers.

Don't do the armour though, I'm going to do some armor icons that match the actual armor in the pack.

I use banners in all my custom art packs. Maybe you could make better ones, I dunno. But I think you should focus not just on tapestries, maps, and banners, but also art pieces like this:
I love this, for the simple fact that it adds a wonderful dash of medieval to the game. Maybe have a few of the art pieces gargoyles?
...I think Ill work on a custom pack of my own and post the results soon.

This is my own custom kz.png pieced together from other art packs and pics I found on the net. I'm not especially happy with the hammer, etc. I just wanted the game to have a "dwarf dropped off in a foreign land in order to mine it to the core" feel.

I'm experimenting with buckets - the perspective might be a little quirky, it's modified from the original just slightly. I'm also contemplating the concept of some sort of handle; you can see my preliminary attempt at rope on the empty one. Since apparently I'm doing well with these, I suppose I'll continue. Hey, first time for everything I suppose - I've always loved pixel art. Anywho, here it is:
I highly value quality criticism, so if anyone has anything to say I'd love to hear it.
1.6 update
Just added the start of a custom art pack:
Still have some tweaks and some of the paintings aren't done yet, but it's close! Sorry for the muddy screenshot, they look great in game trust me. I wasn't able to carry over lots of the detail from the 32p art pack, but I think the ones I've chosen are translating well to 16p.
And Galago, I love the new icons. I added the previous batch you sent to 1.6, but I'll add your current progress with the next release. They're looking awesome, keep going!
My only concern is that the rope is too much, might seem like there's too much detail being crammed in when I see it in game. I mean it looks great, but since it's basically a tool you hold in your hand I'd be inclined to keep it simple. Just let me test it out and whichever looks best will be what we go with.
I love the direction your art pack is taking! I think I might end up modding yours anyway ^__^ Some of the pieces I adore - some of the others I want to tweak. I'll post my results soon!

I'm not a huge fan of the original bucket design (and subsequently my adaptation) - I might try something with a bit more of a slope. I'll also try tagging on some brass handles to the current design, see if that breaks up the shape design at all.
This is my custom kz.png ~ I think everything is fairly self explanatory. Took awhile editing all the little pieces but I've tested it in-game and I think it looks pretty good - Some of it anyway. There are pieces I would love to change - Like the over pixelated shield and the double painting of the arch-tunnel - If you wanna change crap on here around please do! I'd love to see the results.

Hey andrejolicoeur (and Mruqe if you happen to see this.) I just wanted to tell you guys that I do still want to help you with this pack, it's just that my job has been kicking my ass this week and I have had very little free time. I haven't even been able to update SineCraft :biggrin.gif:
Anyways ... Signs, boats, minecarts, and other secondary textures were things I really wanted to work on before I decided to cancel development on this pack. They fit the rest of the theme but I never got around to refinishing them so they're still blurry from the original re-size. If you wanted to get together on IRC or somesuch over the coming weekend, I'd like to coordinate a plan of attack for those textures. I really think we can do better with those.
I sort of took a break from the icons because I've got midterms and whatnot - I'd love to hear from the heads of this pack and get their opinions though.

:Sheep:! Well I didn't expect that but thanks so much! I keep changing the kz.png. Some of the pieces look good in paint.net, but as soon as I load up the game I can't stand them. I'm also trying to make it fit a generic Sword and Sorcery RPG feel and not my own SKULLS AND DOOM preference.
Speaking of which here is the newest form. Still trying to figure out what to put in place of the dark arches. I also don't like some of the long pieces. But I'm fiddling around with it every day :happy.gif:
