That's a really good idea. To get this to work did you just delete the stone block in terrain.pny and then cut and paste glass in it's place or was there more to it? Seeing as this could be as easy as swapping from one texture pack to another it might be a load of fun :smile.gif:
Yeah, I had to use GIMP. I deleted the stone and copied the glass into its empty space but it didn't work. I saw caverns and lit spaces but no ores in sight. Not until you hit them.
Yea the game only draws the faces of blocks that are next to air or a block type that is considered transparent (leaves, glass, water, ice, spawner, etc.) This is a good thing as it means the frame rate is above 1 fps :wink.gif:
Thus making stone transparent only lets you see what is exposed in caves. It should also be noted that light does not go through stone even if it's transparent, so even though you can see the areas where there are non-stones it can be hard to tell what they are without going over and putting a torch in front of them.

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
Still it will be very useful for linking up areas of my mountain base so cheers for the idea. As for finding ores, I have in the past used chartograph to spot diamond ore. You simply map your world top down and then map again only mapping block number 56 (diamond), you then (using Gimp) layer the two on top of each other. It's not perfect but it works pretty well.
My map is literally thousands x thousands. No help there. I need the Xray machine. Pity it's a separate program. But it works well.
Edit: If someone wishes I can upload the "texture pack" and you then do not have to do the process yourself.
And I tried to copy the glass look to the stone look in the terrain.png but the block isn't transparent.

Thanks. I figured it out and I got it do do what I want. Kinda. I only see lit areas.
Dammit
I wanted to see all the ores. :sad.gif:
