Starting to get into the holiday spirit, I've been working on this texture pack based on gingerbread houses. :happy.gif:
It's still very much a WIP, I want to do everything terrain/gui/items, though I'm not sure I'll have it done before christmas. Hopefully I will though.
Taking advantage of some gen errors caused by halloween update to show off Lava = Hot Chocolate, Water = Milk, Gravel = M&Ms or Jelly Beans or something, Leaves = Cotton Candy, Smooth stone = Solid Chocolate, Grass = Sprinkles, Snow = Powdered Sugar, Dirt = Chocolate Shavings
Cave shot showing gravel and smooth stone closer, and featuring obsidian as dark chocolate.
I still don't have ideas for a lot of the blocks like cloth, ice, reeds, wheat, redstone, nether blocks. Also just if you think there's a better material for one I've done, mention it and I'll consider it. :happy.gif:
This is cute! I wouldn't personally use it, but I think that one day when servers can dump textures on people (like TF2 Mods/Maps) then some one could set up a candy land server or something :biggrin.gif:
@Gwydeon: Yeah, I honestly don't see myself using this for much more than building a virtual gingerbread house then going back to my normal saves and texture packs. It's mainly just for fun cause I thought it would be a fun idea. :happy.gif:
@Cyprezz: Yeah, I've been considering something like that myself. The sprinkles are kind of hard on the eyes atm. Do you think green frosting, or should I make the grass into another kind of snow?
I think Minecraft really lends itself to something seasonal and cutesy like this. Reminds me of the toy texture version of 'Transport Tycoon' in the mid-1990's. Looking forward to seeing more stuff. I know my youngest will really love it! Try and get it ready for Christmas and It'll be a nice surprise. :biggrin.gif:
Keep up the good work and in the spirit of what you are doing, let me be the first to wish you a happy Christmas and a successful launch.
This texture pack is the answer to everything. :biggrin.gif:
Haha! Yeh, would be great if it was real! ;p Not so much Survival, as Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory! Oh my, there's an idea to develop! The pigs and sheep could be 'Umpa Lumpas', and far from this re-texturing only being a seasonal thing it could be used anytime. Even more approval now!
@Glimmar: Thanks for the encouragement :happy.gif: I probably won't do oompa loompas, though maybe as an alternative.
@Pumpkindoodles: I still don't have any of the ore blocks or the workbench/chests done so it would look quite odd. I might release an early version once I have all the main blocks done.
So far for the ores I think coal will be mini marshmallows, I already have the torches as marshmallows on sticks. Iron will be peanuts with the bars being peanut brittle, gold will be either caramel or butterscotch, and then diamond might be almonds. I don't know what to do with redstone yet though. Cactus is another hard one.
I've got a 16x16 candyland style texture pack i did a while back. You should check it out to get some ideas. I did the whole gingerbread house style with the cobblestone.
