I really dig the lo-res style of MC, obviously, but not a fan of how the textures turn to muddy poo when you're close up. Notch seems to use the good old "substitute color pallette for resolution" trick that IMO rightfully died back after the VGA era. :tongue.gif:
So anyhoo, here's my take on his original designs, with the swatches of color greatly reduced for clarity. I tried to stay true to the original style, and in many cases did nothing but flatten the spectrum on any given texture. In some cases though, I did make stylistic adjustments (item icons in particular) to make objects more obvious and clear.
Hope it does someone some good, it's not a very exciting mod but it's a subtle enhancement, I think.
I like the style of it! It very much fits in this cubed world. Sometimes it's a relief to see much simpler and cleaner graphics. Nice job :biggrin.gif:

Yeahhhhhh hence the quotes ;-} That's the direction I had in mind but obviously didn't go all the way there. Maybe next time!
EDIT: fix'd for posterity ;-}
Edit: This in no way means I think that it fails, I simply like the low quality.
