Presenting the oxybot! A helpful robot that is basically an oxygen tank with legs. These robots roam the landscape looking for people to assist. Upon spotting a person they run up and attempt to replenish the person's air supply. Unfortunately a small defect in their valve construction has led to a 100% rate of catastrophic failure in low pressure environments. This defect was not discovered until hundreds of the bots had been scattered about the lunar surface and it apparently made it into production due to improper testing as a result of budget cuts in the space program. If you see one, I suggest running.

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.
I have updated my .zip to now work with the in-game picker.
Just download and copy to your texturepack folder!
You can refer to the updated link in the first post, or you can just click this one! mooncraft.zip
As for what I have left to do before I submit this to the contest...
I still have skels, zombies, spiders, and ghasts left to reskin. I also need to finish the items.png and then I will need to decide how much of the basic UI I want to alter.

Argh! It has come to my attention that the built in texture picker doesn't properly apply the files for doing the biome colors, which does really bad things to this pack. (Green craters what?)
So if you want this pack to look right, you are going to have to go into the .zip and apply the /misc/foliagecolor.png and /misc/grasscolor.png files by hand >_<

These rogue military robots are equipped with the latest in cloaking technology. Their nano-weave skins allow them to be completely invisible during the day. However at night a faint glow from the nano-weave makes them clearly visible. These robot's primary goal is to remain undetected so they refrain from attacking while they are fully cloaked. However when they are visible at night they become highly aggressive in an attempt to eliminate witnesses to their presence.

The spider has two files, one called spider.png and the other is spider_eyes.png
spider_eyes.ping is used as a semi-transparent overlay in low light. In the default texture it just has bright red glowing eyes and most of the spider art is in the spider.png Thus spiders get evil glowing eyes in the dark.
What I did was to put almost all of the texture in the spider_eyes.png leaving only some blue eyes in spider.png. This results in nearly invisible spiders in the light and translucent ones in the darkness.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I've got a skeleton re-skin that I think is almost done but I need to take some time to make a better observation area so I can get a good picture of one without getting a face full of blaster fire.

Cool texture pack! Anyone have just a normal earth for the moon file? I'm not a disc world fan.
Sure!
Just save that and rename it to moon.png and replace the moon.png in the .zip with it.

Those of you who hang out here may have noticed that I come up with a new texture idea about once a week. Well this week is no different, I present to you my vision of Minecraft on the Moon.
Grass has been replaced with craters that appear on exposed lunar dirt.
Plants have been enclosed in protective containers.
Ghasts - Strange angry beings float above the alien landscape ready to turn a careless astronaut into space dust.
Skeletons - Alien robots that float on a small pair of rockets and wield blasters.
They have exceptionally efficient solar panels that are a little too efficient and cause them to overload when exposed to direct sunlight.
Zombies - So this is why it seems like you are the only one here, all the other lunar explorers are Zombies!
(This shot is mainly a placeholder till I can get a better one. It doesn't even have the right biome colors, but it's late and I have work in the morning.)
The .zip in the first post has been updated with all the latest stuff.

Still haven't managed a decent zombie shot but I did re-visit some of the terrain textures.
Mossy cobblestones are now more in-line with the cobblestone texture.
The pattern for the mud in the Nether now has it's own bubbly texture instead of just being a recolor of the normal nether rock.
(mud is the purple stuff)
I also re-worked the cacti texture. Still kept the basic crystal theme but made it a bit more regular. So now it could also be used as fuel rods for your space cruiser or some such.
(The sand normally looks better than that but for whatever reason texture colors on this computer get flattened in game.)
Do I even need to say the .zip in the first post has been updated?

I love this texture pack, but I couldn't wait for you to make new armor for the helmets.
Thankfully, I have a tiny bit of experience with retexturing minecraft, so I made my own.
Here is pic. Hopefully.
That's leather. I also made gold (leather with gold colar and water in it. Did take out the fish!), Iron (Top of regular iron helm with black visor) and diamond (top of diamond helm with V shaped white visor), but I like leather the most.
Oh and the rest of the items, which brings me to this:
I have almost all the items redone, just missing a few like paintings, reeds, buckets, records, compass, eggs, apples, watch, snow/slime balls and the vehicles.
I'll come back and do the rest once I get the vehicles done.
Here is the list of the more significant changes:
Wheat => Strawberries
Bread => Freeze Dried Strawberries
Bowl => Foil package
Mushroom Soup => Freeze Dried Mushrooms
Fish => Wax Covered Cheese
Cooked Fish => Cheese with wax removed (tastes much better this way <_<)
Meat => Pork Chop
Cooked Meat => Meat In a Box (Rhymes with Ham)
Paper => Electronic Parts
Book => Computer Chip
Gunpowder => Small Gas Canister
Flint & Steel => Lighter
Bow => Blaster
Arrow => Blaster Cell
Feather => Energy Ball
I think the rest should be pretty apparent what they are.
Don't ask me why there are cheeses floating around in the water on the lunar surface. It's one of life's great mysteries. >_>

This will make it so the sky/fog/clouds are always black. The stars are also gone. The day/night cycle works as normal. Place the files in your minecraft.jar file like any other mod.
this is what it looked like with the Tron texture pack
or open up gimp/some other image editing software and make a 256x256 transparent picture, save it as clouds.png and place that in the environment folder if you do not want to see any clouds (recommended for this texture pack)
Also, I discovered who was leaving the helmets lying about. >_>
This is the so awesome!
