Hi Glimmar,
I am a maintainer of PChan3's mods (Airships aka Steamships, included) and it only recently occur to me that I didn't contact you for the use of your textures. Of course, all due credits are already given since the update is public; with your name in the mod, on the download page and link to your topic. It may sound a bit hypocritical to ask this late, but rest assured that I didn't mean any harm nor intend to steal your work.
I hope you decide to authorize use of your work in future updates of said mod.
Haha! I love some of those analogies, especially the 'sloth in a tree covered in treacle'! Where'd that come from?
Lol! You might feel better after looking at my clouds, Syclone...I never want to paint another cloud again!...at least for a few weeks! I just need to sit in a darkened room until my 'skyinsanititess' thingy wears off!
Anyways, what might look good in a video, might not be quite so good in game...it'll no doubt be judged by all in due course, but I much appreciate the compliment and the visit, mate. After my forced absence, I definitely need to pop round and see all the wonderful things you've been up to. I'm just not much of a social butterfly these days...more of a social Tsetse Fly!
Ha Sloth's/treacle its plainly obvious dear fellow...........ummm well maybe not but i demand it be used by everyone when describing a slow drawn out day
I'm sure just as good in game re the sky will have a good butchers (English slang for look to other folk) when you get the update out
As always credit wheres credit due sir.............yes do pop in as say hello over in CH world, mostly been on things that Baah, moan, and 8 legged critters that lure you in with their fluffy charm then rip ya head off and drain you dry..........so yeah ummm everything's as per usual
I was thinking about this, and thought that it would work great as a sort of cracked version of a more red sandstone, or as a bleached and cracked clay block. Maybe even a more grey version of the bricks.
Maybe have some crumbly, stuccoed brick, something like this:
Those are all really good suggestions. Cracked or aging red sandstone or the crumbly, stuccoed brick both appeal to me, as I'm looking to have more variety, by also using ctm hopefully, to build some ghettos in and around my city. Perhaps if there's time I should do a few different hardened clay blocks. The one that seems most useful I'll see about randomising through ctm.
I wonder if the hay bale block can be made to be a little more useful for this theme? It would still have to be related to hay as I don't want to end up endlessly explaining what it is, ala chicken, cake, bed, et al.

Ah! No probs, mate.
Actually I have a confession to make, in that I already knew you were using the airship textures, as I had a bookmark on the last person who had re-awakened the airship mod and saw either yours or someone else's link to your thread. I saw you'd put a link to my thread along with credit, so I didn't mind. I just saw it as a continuation really and as it's a mod and not part of my texture pack, it's nice to see my old airship textures still being of use. So as long as I'm credited, those airship skins are better being used than sitting idle.
I just need to update the airship mod link in my OP now.
I must say, from looking through your OP you are incredibly prolific with your work. You're doing an amazing job covering so many popular mods that have fallen by the wayside. Not sure how you find the time, but bravo!
Also, thank you for stopping by and asking...it's much appreciated.

I shall have to use that Sloth's/treacle quote sometime.
Haha! I'm always being careful with my whimsical Northern sayings in case I inadvertently offend someone.
I'm wondering about tackling sheep and cows too, at the same time as horses. They're all pretty much the same aren't they? Four legs, and a passion for grass! I bet you'll make a fantastic job of the horses, I saw your wolves before being trapped by RL and they were astounding!
As for the hardened clay block, i have two additional suggestions: Dried clay bed all crackly, or American Southwest adobe.
Hiya, juliasand1. Hope the reality matches the vid. What am I saying? Minecraft is 'reality'?
American Southwest adobe sounds interesting. Is that like what I think of as Mexican/Wild West arid style dwellings with tumble weed dotted about? Kind of ruddy brown colour?
I wonder if the hay bale block can be made to be a little more useful for this theme? It would still have to be related to hay as I don't want to end up endlessly explaining what it is, ala chicken, cake, bed, et al.
Maybe some sort of dirt covered variation of wheat, held together by some rusty iron bands? When it comes to blocks made by one item, it's kind of hard to be creative.
By the way, the first time I killed a chicken, I thought it was great that the chicken's actual body was the raw chicken.

Haha, I've thought of one useful way of representing the hay bale, but I'll keep it under my top hat for now, in case it doesn't quite work out as planned!
You're right though, some things are very difficult to something outlandishly creative with if you still want the world to remain consistent. The chicken is a case in point, I guess. Glad you like it, but it causes all sorts of problems for others, especially with the chain of resources that follow on from the chicken. I'm looking forward to upgrading both the chicken and the cake at some point, perhaps introducing some natural looking hens (with the odd brass prosthesis!). However, having just looked at the enormous task ahead to skin all the different horses, it might be a while before anything else like hen variations gets tackled.
Hey Glimmar, I have a question. Why does Netherbrick look so similar to regular brick? The reason I ask is that the Netherbrick fence icon has the same texture as Netherbrick, but when placed in the world it has a sweet "black with gold detailing" thing going on. I'd love to have Netherbrick look like that. I don't know if you have it in your alternate textures section, because I can't see them. No matter how many times I reload the page, it's still empty. So if that exists, could you point me to a place where I can find it?
New snapshot is out. Looks like they added another new block: Coal block, a storage block for coal. Also, it appears that they took out the horse saddle, so the pre-existing saddle will work for both pigs and horses.
Texture support skins for custom npcs mod would make my day.
Looks an interesting mod. However, due to time constraints, I only work on textures for the base pack + anything MC Patcher makes available, which from my perspective is as much a part of the basic Minecraft experience as anything can be...only my opinion.
Will be awesome
if was some big
steampunk MODs.
Who fully change game for steam. (like TerraFirma)
Probally now I have small team who can develop somthing like this.
Need to found only 2 persons for graphic, and steam eginer :3
So, I see you paint awesome Textures.
And can you help us some in near future?
Through lots of kind and generous user support, many mods are already supported by this pack's steampunk theme using many of my alternative textures. ksheep regularly collates all submissions and makes them available as a mod support pack download in my OP (Mod Support Section).
As mentioned above, I only have time to support my texture pack and most things related to MC Patcher. I'm struggling to keep up with that. Thank you for asking, but I have to be honest and say I can't help with any outside mod project myself...sorry.
Glad you like my work though and thanks for saying.

I think folk fall into two basic camps with regard to what they think the netherbrick should be. Camp 1 like the red brick variation look, and camp 2 like the idea of some kind of metal such as cast iron to represent the nether fortresses.
I like the brick I'm afraid, and early on decided that having two basic types of brick was very useful for my version/style of steampunk. I live in an old part of the North West of England in the UK, famous for it's red bricked cotton weaving mills and rows and rows of red-bricked terrace houses. I like the darker industrial side of Victorian steampunk and having an old dark red industrial brick and a slightly cleaner variety works well for such things. I already have enough metal block textures and in my opinion not enough brick varieties. Hence why I'm hoping to turn the hardened clay block into another variety of brick (if I can get these blessed horses textured! Just so difficult for me, you wouldn't believe!).
You are absolutely right that both normal and nether bricks are the same texture, just a different shade and colour. It was only meant to be a temporary solution and I've been meaning for some time to upgrade the bricks, cobble and stone. Unfortunately (from my perspective), Mojang never stop adding new things, which for this theme and my predilection for detail, means I often don't get a chance to go back over many things that require more work.
Don't forget to look through all my alt textures (they're in the pack). You might prefer to replace the nether brick with one of those alts. Since Minecraft 1.5, it's easy to swap blocks and items around. If you swap the nether brick for something else, it won't effect the nice cast iron nether brick fence.
New snapshot is out. Looks like they added another new block: Coal block, a storage block for coal. Also, it appears that they took out the horse saddle, so the pre-existing saddle will work for both pigs and horses.
Ooo! Thanks, sheep.
Just having one type of saddle sounds more sensible. Mind you, I never got round to making a pig saddle, so I've still got my work cut out.
Mmm? A coal block could prove to be open to lots of interpretation. I wonder what we're short of...something decorative, industrial, architectural? I'm not sure my mind can contemplate any more block ideas just now, though. I'm already panicking how far I'm falling behind, so I hope Mojang don't keep dropping more into 1.6. Moan, moan!
I'm blinkered towards horse work for now! Hah! 'blinkered'...get it?!! [yeh! shows how desperate and crazy I'm getting at the moment]
The coal block could be like a storage bin, rather than an all black block. I see it as a copper-y container like the cauldron, or this. Or maybe in the laquered black like the nether fence, or like this, or this. Kind of like a compromise with theSeptet. More of that laquered nether fence-like texture in a full on block form would not be unwelcome.

You're pretty close to my own thinking there. Like everything I do, I'm after something that's not just going to look like a block of coal of course. So I'm considering some kind of antiquated coal storage unit for survival (probably not quite along the lines of what you showed in the pics) that can also be a structural component for creative (you can never have too many of those)...I'm thinking fairly heavy cast iron again, but that enamel decoration has got me thinking. Similarly for the hay bale. That one's just a little more difficult, due to it's multi-directional placement trick. Time constraints and this flippin' horse work, may mean I have to do something simple for starters and then change it to something a little more ambitious later. I'm not in a position to move fast on anything at the moment.
Coal block should be a coal bucket with some coal in the top (remember you have CTM) and coal dust around the edges of the bucket.
Maybe more CTM so the front has a handle on it.
Once again, Mojang can't be bothered to texture the new things they add.
First with the anvil just being a darkened stone texture with the block break texture for the damaged versions and now the coal block is basically a black version of the redstone block texture.
Haha! Yes, I noticed the simple colour change from redstone block to coal block. It's a shame there wasn't more of an attempt at making them different. After all, I would consider the redstone block to be more precious than coal, but it seems a little mundane now that we know it's really just a coal block painted red!
Incidentally, I don't think I'll be animating anything this time around, until I find out how many computer systems my Better Daytime Skies textures blows up!
Slightly veering away from the topic of blocks and on to the work I'm currently embroiled in...that of horses. As much as I'm finding the work difficult (as I know nothing about horse anatomy), it's interesting to see how Mojang have gone about adding a variety of markings that can be overlaid on all the different coloured horses. Not being very up to date on MC news, I wonder if this is a step towards introducing variety to the other mobs, in particular sheep, pigs and cows. Is this Mojang's attempt to infiltrate randomob territory I wonder?
Thanks for the brain stormin' suggestions, guys. Glad to have the company.
Hey, is there still a location to download the 1.4.6/1.4.7 texture pack? I'm trying to update my feed the beast texture pack and have all the mod textures and no vanilla texturepack to add them to!

I know I shouldn't be putting more work on your plate, but I was just wondering if you had heard about the Custom Item Textures support that is being added to MCPatcher? Allows you to use different textures for items based on their damage value, so you could have a different coal and charcoal texture, or give different looks to tools based on how much they've been use. I think that it can be used with other parameters as well, but not entirely sure.
Again, I really should just let you work on the horses, as it sounds like you've got your plate full as it is. Just thought I'd ask.
