This is a "fix" I found for the white dots between water blocks problem using this texture pack (and possibly for other packs). I had discovered this a while back and subsequently forgot about until I updated my Painterly Pack and had to implement it again.
TL;DR: Use an image editor like Paint.net to delete/remove opacity from unimplemented/empty squares in terrain.png. It won't remove the "gaps", but it will make them such that they do not draw the eye and will go unnoticed unless you are looking for them.
If you open terrain.png in an image editor (I recommend Paint.net) and delete the cyan/blueish checker pattern that is filler for the "empty" texture squares, it will make those areas transparent rather than colored, and for whatever reason, this makes those white dots much less noticeable.
I recommend using the "Magic Wand" type selection tool with 0% Tolerance and set to continuously add to the selection. You can click each empty square to select them all, then just push delete and save it and replace the old terrain.png.
The spots appear to turn black or at least dark instead of white, but this is definitely much less noticeable to me.
I've experimented with using different colors, such as the magenta/hot pink color that I've seen in the past for the empty spaces, but the most pleasing fix so far that I have found is simply removing opacity from the empty areas.
It's not perfect, but it does help. This works whether or not you are using custom water animations for MCPatcher. So if you notice white dots even with the regular water while using this texture pack, this should fix them regardless.
I apologize if other/better/identical fixes have been mentioned elsewhere, but I did not locate any in my searching (hence why I started experimenting on my own). But if you need a ghetto fix, this will make an immediately noticeable difference and probably will be all you need.
I also submit to creators of the Painterly Pack that if this is actually a common problem, you might consider adding 0% opacity to all of the unimplemented spaces in the terrain.png file to make this problem less noticeable. I am not a graphics/programming person, and I couldn't begin to tell you what causes this problem or why this fix works (for me). But if it's possible, you might add an option for this to Painterly that people can check/uncheck in their customization options. :happy.gif: I dunno if your automated creation process allows for this or not. I would assume so since the "filled" tiles use transparency.
P.S. I love Painterly Pack! Seriously. Great job. :smile.gif:

April 06th update: I've added wildgrass mod support! Select all sorts of wildgrass options from the customizer, or not, as you wish. Obviously, this requires the Wildgrass mod to work, and is disabled by default in customized packs. Also added are a couple community-request items for wolves and armor.
Featured are:
- 6 new Wolf options, including classic-style white and grey dogs, halloween skeleton dogs, and scarves instead of collars for wolves.
- Added Crogs and Crigs.
- Added variant chain armor with a proper helmet.
- 7 wildgrass grass options
- 5 wildgrass tiny flower options
- 6 wildgrass tiny cactus options
- 2 wildgrass lily pad options
- 8 new flower options, for wildgrass and regular flowers
- 5 new mushroom options, 2 of which can also be used with wildgrass and regular flowers
- Added wildgrass vines
The gold brick texture doesn't seem to be showing up correctly for me in game, it just shows up with the regular 1/4-size gold ingot texture on all six sides. Does anyone else have this problem? (I also have the same problem with iron brick)
Desperately want pink trees....Pink trees won't show up right. The different colored trees don't seem to work anymore and I seem to remember them working fine before. Helps?
You see, the option for having three sides on a iron/gold/diamond block was removed quite a while ago. It says so on the Painterly website. I'm afraid that you will have to bug Jeb about that one.

Well that's no fun. :/
just replace the biome png's with blank images of the same size. it'll work then.
I comend you guys for making such an amazing pack and for making many "classic-like" textures for people who only wish to change some aspects of the original textures.
But I do wonder if you are going to ever make more varied skins for the zombie. So far the only options are a yeti and a gag zombie. A diferent zombie texture would be greatly apreciated, perhaps an "improved" version of the original?
Same goes for the armor. While many like the ornamental armor, some might want a more simple, classic-but-improved design.
Nonetheless I apreciate all the work youve made into this pack, I cant imagive it was easy. Just sharing the only nitpics I have.
seeing as Jeb_ was helpful enought to provide the texture locations to Kas early, he was able to get the textures done before the update. hence, Painterly has been updated after only an hour from the 1.5 release.

Trip report: Sidegrass works, Redstone wire graphics fix works, compass, watch and biome overrides STILL BROKEN so you still need to manually overpatch to fix those :sad.gif:
That said...
PAINTERLY PACK UPDATE
(Not that anyone is going to see it as they're all playing portal 2)
Literally my largest update, slightly beating out the dirt options one. :smile.gif:
That's not a 100% complete/updated preview but you get the gist.
Things this time around:
METAL BLOCKS
- all iron blocks touched up (higher contrast) and changed to conform to 1-block style
- 5 new iron block options added
- all gold blocks touched up (richer yellows and oranges) and changed to conform to 1-block style
- 4 new gold block options added
- all diamond blocks touched up (darker, bluer) and changed to conform to 1-block style
- 5 new diamond blocks added
MODERN MINECRAFT LIVING
- added shingles texture for wood planks and cobblestone
- added whitewashed siding texture for wood planks
- added 2 white modern doors
- added 3 modern-style square panel windows
- added cloth pack with wallpaper, carpets, brick, wood trim, white painted walls, floor tiles (with matching dye graphics)
- asphalt + 2 concrete options for gravel
- 4 concrete options for sandstone
- 2 types of modern-style metal pails.
- shipping box chest
- oven furnace with 2 top options
- fridge dispenser
- 2 types of modern wall lanterns added
RAILS AND REDWIRE
- all redwire changed to use new graphical fixes and graphical options. Since this new method allows for more flexibility, there's now 14 options instead of 8.
- 2 styles for all rail boosters except monorail (1 style) and subway (3 styles)
- 2 styles for all rail detectors except monorail (1 style) and subway (3 styles)
- every rail texture redone to conform to 'shadow in the middle' style of rails which was changed recently by Notch
EASTER STUFF
- Hot cross bun added as cake option
- Easter egg added as egg option
- Easter baskets added as pail option
MISC
- new achievements screen graphic (not shown)
- rocky sand texture for sandstone
- 1 new oak sapling added
- 2 new pine saplings added
- 6 new birch saplings added
- sidegrass for all biome-compatible sidegrasses now works correctly.
- slimes now have matching colour particle effects and slimeballs based on the type of slime you choose
- added 'dye on paper sheets' dye style icons
- added line-block cloth option and matching dye icons
- added orange clay and bricks
- new brick icon option
- new gold/iron ingot icon option
Other important milestones since last patch:
1. We've passed the 1,250,000 customizer downloads mark
2. New server hasn't crashed my tracking software once! Go new server!
3. I've gotten my first email telling me that customizer was way too difficult for them to figure out and if I'd please just make a pack for them as it was too hard for them to do
4. I had some foreign business ask me what types of 'packs' my 'corporation' is selling and if I could send him a catalog of my packs and pricing data because he couldn't find it on the painterly site.
5. I uploaded my update within 1 hour of the patch going live (had to edit the achievements background). Within that timeframe I got THREE emails asking why the hell my pack wasn't updated for the new patch yet.
You know where to get it! It's there waiting when your portal twos are all done. :smile.gif:
Can you make a lightwood option for the minecart boosters / detectors please?
There already is, the customiser will automatically pull the right style of detector/booster track from the normal style chosen earlier, in the style of the selection. so just select a light normal rail and the other rails will be light too. there is a texture for everything, as seen Here.
You read the information given in this thread, Kas' dl page, the readme.txt file in the downloaded folder and *gasp* even the MineCraft home page!
Then, when you've realized how simple it is to read instructions on how to add the texture pack, you read some more.
Seriously, why download something if you aren't even going to read the information provided?
Welcome to the "Real World"
Or more futuristic looking textures but :3 im good what this has :3
