Love this texture pack, wish the lava and water was animated, but other then that I love all the other textures (especially the glass, you can see through it now).
The bricks i love from this pack are Clay, Dirt, Smooth Stone, Wood, And the Furnace-Workbench-Chest :wink.gif:
I hate Magma and Cobblestone, tho :sad.gif:
I presume that this (and all texture packs) are client-side only?
i.e. I can't install it on an Alpha SMP and force clients to download the textures... can I?
-- Update #1 --
Wow SMP, nice work. This pack is how Minecraft SHOULD look :smile.gif: After reading the thread, I figured I'd try it and said to myself, how bad could the random fire blocks be?
lol - my brick house is now Satan's Livingroom. Is the water supposed to be animated in any way? Based on the statement in the OP, I thought there was fire animation on random blocks, water, and lava. I may have misinterpreted...

The hatchet doesn't look quite right. With a recipe like this:

There is no graphic for the newly added compass. Haven't tested the new fishing rod but I'm guessin that doesn't exist in this pack either...
I tried this texture pack this morning, and it looks lovely, examples below. However, it seems to make my Minecraft lock up, with the Alpha multiplayer. It ran fine for 10-15 minutes, then I had two crashes in about 5 minutes. I switched back to vanilla minecraft.jar and that ran fine, crash-free, for 4 hours (and vanilla also ran fine for the 6 hours prior to switching over). I might try it again to see - I like it a lot - but I am suspecting some problem with it. My computer's fairly serious: 4 core, 6 gigs memory, so I don't think it's running out of resources.
EDIT: Nevermind! I finally got the crash again, but without the texture pack. I'm starting to think it has to do with wandering in the "dead zone" (64x64 pixel area you can't change, that contains the spawn). Anyway, I'll leave the post, for others info.
I figure this will get worked out over time. My one art comment: please make the sticks more visible in inventory. It's hard to find them, e.g.

Only problem I have is the bricks are on fire. Is there no way to change this? Could the brick texture be like the old one or is it not even just that specific texture causing it?

If I had a nickel for every time this question was asked, I'd be a millionaire.
All double resolution (32x) texture packs have this problem. It's caused by the fact that fire is rendered from the terrain file itself, so when you double it it kind of screws everything up. This includes animated water and lava, too. There's no way to fix it unless Notch adds support for higher res texture packs.
I started using this pack again, now that I know it's not the pack's fault I'm crashing. However, there are two things missing, making it unusable for me for now:
* No compass, as others have mentioned
* No mossy rocks (found in dungeons), these just look like normal cobblestones
I look forward to when these are added, please let us know here!
It's been a few months since I last updated my texture pack, but I just finished quite the large update. I think mostly everything has been changed in some way since the last version. I got a new site up (seems like I do a lot), it's no http://painterlypack.net with it's awesome customizer features, but it's got pretty pictures at least. There's a bunch of alternate skins for you to use in the folder named "alternatives", like different seasons and a optional stained wood.
SMP's Realistic is no more. Well, just rebranded. It's now SMP's Texture Pack. "Realistic" was a retarded and unfortunate choice I made way back in the very first version of my texture pack. It was never really realistic anyway. My texture pack has come a long way from the very firstversion way back in October, 2009. I stopped supporting my 16x16 texture pack in favor of this 32x32. Every single texture and graphics file is redone completely. There's a bunch of alternate skins for you to use in the folder named "alternatives", like different seasons and a optional stained wood.
Note about errors:
Right now there's a few bugs with using a higher res skin. These bugs include: fire on gold and bricks, unanimated water, and glitchyness around tools and other sprites. Don't bother asking me about them because it's up to Notch to officially fix them. There is a user-made fix for them though which you can get here
awesome! but i think that u need to make the pack as best as u can (graphicly) and try to make it look like the original one.. this is the final version of this pack or u gonna update it?
Also, besides the cobblestone looking not awesome, the rest looks awesome
Yeah this was pointed out to me earlier. I guess that's what I get for thinking that'd be a totally awesome design at 4 AM.
The Quick Fix!
Click the creeper!
If you look down on the fire, you can see caves :biggrin.gif:.
Bricks were shat.

Did this update happen? Just wondering if I have the latest version since mine is missing at least the Compass and Fishing Rod...
