There's been a huge surge in popularity of challenges and silly game modifications recently. Not just in Minecraft, but in other games as well. Special runs, randomized textures, breaking the rules of games completely; you name it, someone has done it.
Randomized Minecraft is not a new idea. People have done it before, people will do it again. However, you now have a way to do it yourself:
With "I.T.E.M.S.", the Item, Texture, (and) ETC. Minecraft Scrambler, you can do this:
Now, you can scramble any resource pack you so desire, turning it into a living nightmare mish-mash of garbage - or something beautiful, with the right amount of madness.
Because this only affects the resource pack, all items maintain their actual functionalities. However, they can be renamed and retextured, meaning that you'll have to discover for yourself what each and every item has become. It's a strange, confusing puzzle. And it can be absolutely hilarious sometimes.
The results are rather customize-able. ITEMS groups items and blocks by type and uses a "pool" to either scramble groups together or shuffle groups only among themselves.
NOTE:
The programming language "Python" was used to develop this program. If you wish to use this, please install it from https://www.python.org.
Preview of program appearance (sparse, but functional):
- Numerous categories of each to scramble, individually or together, or both
- Should be compatible with most resource packs
Changelog (v0.3):
- Implemented armor appearance scrambling.
- Implemented particle scrambling.
- Implemented effect icon scrambling.
- Implemented container GUI scrambling (situational and very buggy).
- Can now choose to have item names match their apparent textures.
- Changed the treatment of mcmeta files. Scrambled eggs fixed again again.
- Updated for compatibility with 1.15 and with 1.16 snapshots (as of Pre-release 2).
- Lanterns have a strange texture - they belong in misc, but are actually animated. Since categorizing a texture as animated takes priority over categorizing it as misc, there is now an option to remove lanterns from the pool when scrambling.
- No prompts before scrambling. Acknowledgement of the possible damage by the hand of the program is assumed by using the program.
- Light Gray Dye is now in the pool.
Planned Features:
- Shuffle sounds (?)
- Scramble block names (?)
- Scramble entity textures (this will not end well)
Instructions:
- (there is a readme in the zip that also explains the following)
First, be sure you have correctly installed the Python programming language from python.org.
1. Unzip your desired resource pack in the resourcepacks folder of your .minecraft folder.
2. Unzip I T E M S.zip, and place the file "I T E M S.py" into the resource pack.
3. Run the program and choose your settings.
4. Open minecraft, select the unzipped resource pack, and you're done!
If you encounter any particularly bad problems, please copy paste the error log "outlog.txt" that generates into a post below, and describe the problem, if you can. (it helps a lot to link whichever resource pack you were trying to scramble.)
