I know it's been a while since i've posted here. I don't play Minecraft very much anymore.
So, i'm more of a program developer now, and about a week ago I got a request.
What was it? To make a Minecraft Server Manager to manage a server, and generally make it easier to run from the host PC.
The computer is Running Windows right now so that made it easier on me.
So I have the first build here, and I would like to share it with all of you.
Why? Well I need suggestions on how to improve it and make it better, and bugs you may find to be reported!
FAQ:
Q: Is this free as of right now, and how long might it be free?
A: Yes. It is free as of now, and will continue to be forever!
Q: What versions of Minecraft server will this run?
A: All of them. All you need to do is rename the Server File.jar to Craftbukkit.jar, as that is the platform I tested it on.
Q: How should I consider this project to be? Finished, Beta, Alpha, Extreamally Buggy, or what?
A: Consider it in alpha. Meaning that it will contain a bunch of bugs, glitches, and more. Being that it's in alpha as well, means that it is subject to change a lot during the alpha period. Once in beta, it's a testing phase. Features will still be added here and there, but it will mostly be about fixing bugs.
Q: Can I see what it looks like as of now? Perhaps a Video or some Pictures?
A: Sure! Check out the Spoiler below! Note that it's look ISgoing to change! The colors and background and EVERYTHING will be changing during this alpha period!
^^ This is Before Server Launch, and just after opening the program! ^^
^^ After Server Launch ^^
^^ Me putting in a command (All Commands for your JAR should work) ^^
^^ After I hit Enter to send the command (That Button there works too!) ^^
^^ After Clicking the Stop button. That Blank line at the bottom of the Console marks that the server shut down properly. ^^
^^ My Craftbukkit Test Directory for this Program. ^^
Also know that the program does not require a custom plugin for you to use it!
Q: How do I install/use this, and does it come with a Craftbukkit or Minecraft Server JAR?
A: It's quite simple. Just make a new folder where you want the server, and extract the ZIP inside it. Put the Craftbukkit or Minecraft Server JAR inside of that folder as well. Rename the JAR file to "Craftbukkit.jar" instead of say "Craftbukkit-1-2-3-4-example.jar". Run the program and click Start Server! It will start your server for the first time and generate everything you need for the server to run. Also ignore any errors on first run as its generateing all the server files, and the errors are Java saying that they are not there. If the server crashes with this program, let me know by posting a Bug Report on my Forums (Sorry for Self Promotion, I just wont be really reading comment bug reports) here: http://electricgameing.tk/forum/ under General.
It does NOT come with a server JAR file for either Craftbukkit or Minecraft Vanilla, you will need to get that yourself. The main reason is the current DMCA that Craftbukkit is under.
Seen Enough? Well then check the bottom of this posts for downloads!
UPDATE: In the latest build I have added the changelog feature was implemented and all changelogs can be found there, in the File menu.
NOTICE: Version V006b1 HOTFIX released! Version V006b1 had a bug where The Stop Server button had a bug where it would not stop the server but rather try to start it. It would not stop the server. Please download the HotFix rather then v006b1.
UPDATE: THIS PROJECT IS NOW IN BETA PHASE! ALL MAJOR UPDATES WILL NOW CONSIST OF BUG FIXES ALMOST PURELY! MORE PURE FEATURE ADDING MAJOR BUILDS WILL COME IN AFTER BETA IS OVER!
Remember to tell me what you think of it so far here on this post, as well as put suggestions here so I can improove! Feel Free to use ANY of the pictures here and write on them to show me where some features could go or anything of that sort!
Also not that I was using my old Windows XP PC to build this, but it works on all Windows computers, I have tested. It should also work on x86 and x64 computers just fine.
