I've started work on a mod in Techne but then I realised it can't animate so all the models I have made (that took a long time) are useless, I want to use MCAnimator but all my progress is on Techne, is there any way of converting a Techne file to an MCAnimator file?
Sure you can, there's an importer from Techne to MCAnimator! Top Menu->Import from Techne and choose your techne model
It has been a few months and you still haven't made a tut...
We apologize, the reason is that we found some critical hidden bugs in the code and we had to fix them. We have almost finished the 1.2 version with all the necessary fixes and some new features. After that, making new tutorials will be pretty fast
First off, I want to say, phenomenal job on this program! It's truly a life saver! There is one major issue that is preventing me from moving forward in my progress with this program though. Like previously mentioned a page back or so, when you call an animation, it applies it to all of the entities of the same type. Is this one of those critical bugs you mentioned? I get this issue even when I'm trying to animate attacks and such. You help and guidance will be much appreciated. Diamonds to you though for this wonderful program!

Hello Tihyo,
thanks for the support. We are developing the 1.2 version which is going to fix lot of things and obviously the problem you got. Minecraft code is not the best code ever and we are doing many workarounds to make things work smoothly for modders
Please give us a bit of time, you won't regret it!

When do you estimate this new version will be out by?
I already asked this. Can you make a text tutorial for how to start the program on other platforms than only Windows? Because I have seriously no idea how to open the program as I'm on Linux, and I don't even want to animate anything, all I want to do is to make some models...

It's a really basic task. Why do you use Linux if you don't know how to start programs?
Anyway you need to extract the files and then use this command:
java -jar MCAnimator.jar

Tell us if it works as expected!
It did! Thanks alot!
EDIT: The only thing I need now is actually the model support for items and blocks for the 1.8 resource pack models. Right now all I can model is mobs, which can't be modeled in the game yet, so this program currently can't change anything about the game. Can you, in the next update, add block and item support for 1.8 resource packs?

Almost everyone who plays modded Minecraft plays with the previous versions as all modders are basically playing a game of catch up with the newest version.

It's a planned feature but it's not our priority right now. As Forge will be released as stable for 1.8, then it will be our duty making everything possible for modeling correctly in it
I just want to give my compliments to the whole team behind this project - you people are amazing at what you're doing!
This software is incredible in all sorts of ways: the idea is great and the exicution is fantastic! I really can't stress enough how good it is. It will definately help out the mod I'm working for.
I wish you all good luck in anything you do/ will do, and can't wait for v1.2 to be released

The team really appreciates your support, 1.2 will be even better and will have a lot of new stuff. Also tutorials will be provided finally, as hidden bugs will have been fixed. Happy modeling!
How do I export my model to a .java file? I hit export and the selection boxes come up (version, export type, and type of Item I think) but there is no "Export" button. Hitting enter doesn't work either. Am I missing something? Either way this program is amazing!
Edit: I'm on Mac BTW.

No, we don't have. As soon as we'll have it, we'll publish it on our Facebook page and maybe here
Why do you need Forge for the program? Forge is only used for mods.

They have a built in animation library and it needs forge. Also, if something in the model structure they need to change the code output to match it. It is one of the main reasons Techne is slowly being replaced. It is outdated because the code it exports needs to be fixed before it works.

A signature was supposed to be here but your computer decided not to show it.

It should be there, I'm pretty sure it works. Anyway I suggest you to wait for the 1.2. We have improved a lot the exported code and we are writing tutorials for it
nevermind, but Techne's controls were way easier. Also is it possible that you could boost up the performance?
Because of a temp bug, we are using a weird workaround in order to make the MCA compatible with Mac too (blame on Mac). As soon as the bug will be fixed, the performance will boost up a lot. Sorry for the annoying fact!

Wow, you're so clever ahah Just kidding, the fact is that, as xxxzzzmark said, we are providing a library to animate the models which are obviously based on Forge. Normal Minecraft doesn't have the necessary code for doing serious animations, which is a real shame

Not yet, but it's planned. Also you will have to use specific shapes in Blender, because MCAnimator works only with boxes

The last thing we really need to do is fixing the MCALibrary. After that it will be released

Sweet! But do you have a date? A week or two?

I would imagine doing this would be possible. After looking at the format, it might be possible to manually do it.

Thank you sir, stay tuned for the upcoming 1.2 version!

Just use it without the fullscreen - performance is much better that way.
