It's a great tool, but when I select Taiga, and I fill it in with Plains, the snow stays for some reason, but the block change color.. anyone knows why it does that?
Thanks Advance!!
Biome Painter only changes the biome information, it does not change any of the blocks already in the world, so the snow will stay there until you remove it. You can do this with MC Edit by telling it to change all snow to air in the selected area. Or you can do it manually in game with a lot of water buckets. That will also remove any flowers as well. And take a loooong time if it's a big area.

I'm using a beta world and this tool has saved me once before when a taiga biome retroactively appeared in my world. I can't remember exactly, but when I fixed it, I think I may too have fixed a taiga biome in the main part of my map which had not yet began snowing over. Either way, I now have snow appearing in an area that both the game and biomepainter do not recognise as a taiga biome. Is biome painter 1.1 compatible with minecraft 1.7.4? Any ideas on how I can fix a taiga if biomepainter won't recognise it as being a taiga?
Not sure, since I haven't used it on a newer world, but just select the area that is getting snow that you don't want to have snow and change it to the biome that you want.

The biomes that were being snowed upon were a mix of extreme hills/edge, river and plains, as recognised by the game and biomepainter. Very definitely not taiga. I changed them all to forrest and mcedited out the snow. So far so good. Thanks for the help.

Cool, also remember in newer versions of the game, if the terrain is over a certain height, it will snow there no matter what the biome. Well, maybe not in desert or mesa, but I'm pretty sure all the rest, never tested it really.

I believe this only occurs in the Extreme Hills and Extreme Hills Edge biomes. I recently updated to 1.7.4, and I did not like how my existing mountain locales which did not have snow before, now had snow. I used this tool to change said two biomes to plains and it does not seem to snow at higher altitudes anymore. I hope it doesn't have any bad side effects down the line, but this tool and MCEdit (for removing snow/ice from now non-cold Taiga biomes) has been a life-saver in moving a pre-1.7.x world to 1.7.4.

is there an update coming out soon for this? I ask because when I downloaded this it doesn't appear to have all of the new biomes that come with minecraft 1.7.4 and beyond.

Also, check the readme that comes with Biome Painter, it tells you how to edit the user biomes txt file to add custom biomes, which lets you update this yourself for future updates.

This looks great and really useful. The only improvement I can see that would be helpful for a smaller group of people is the ability to chose a region based x,z but also y, for instance you could have a floating biome in the sky or underground. Thankyou heaps for making this, this will be really useful.

Hey, since I'm using mods it says 'unknown biome', and so I cannot change the biome. is there a possibility you could make anything editable, unknown biomes as well?
In MC Edit you'd either need a premade structure to import or just start drawing in the land you want with the tools provided. You can also copy and paste a section of land from another map into your new map. Or use the World Edit mod.
worldedit or something equivilant to regen the chunks you changed or you delete the chunks and let the game regen them automatically. Im guessing this isnt maintained no more? 1.5?
I haven't seen an update in a long time, but I think it will still work with current versions of the game, you might need to add in new biomes manually though, I think there's a config file that holds biome names in the install folder.

Seems to, at least it looks like the list has all the new biomes. I haven't tried editing a world with it though.

Check the github page for this software, it has an updated biome list: https://github.com/mblaine/BiomePainter/blob/4952e0999076b5d97617d8f0a0bbdbeb459c4c03/BiomePainter/Biomes.default.txt

No, all this program does is change the biome type,it won't create landscapes. You might find something like that in MC Edit.
