Can some one tell me how to use those expanding tab things. Is it spoilers ?
When is your best guess for when we can expect 3.0? no pressure for exact dates. Just "a couple weeks" "a couple days" "a couple years" would do.
I'm eager to start sorting out my mods for 1.2.5 but I am also waiting for 3.0, If I can get a rough estimate I can either twidle my thumbs in the mean time and wait, or move on and do it the old fashioned way and come back to it later.
multimc version 2.3.4483.20422 (going off file details) crashes for me immediately when i run the program with the error:

i am using windows 7 64 bit and i have tried the KERNELBASE.dll fix mentioned before, all it did was break my user profile (which took me some time to fix). i have installed gtx+ and run all of its tests, its working perfectly. i have rebooted more times then i would care to count. re-downloaded the program a few times and i still get the error.
It's not working for some reason. So I'm using Mac OS Lion. I installed Mono. I then restarted my computer. I tried to run on instance of Minecraft with mods installed, and it plays Minecraft but with no mods. What did I do wrong?
That was the confusing part with putting out a 3.0 video while 2.3 is all that's available because how mods are loaded apparently changed fundamentally.
New users seeing the video come here, download 2.3 and expect to just drag/drop mods into the Add Mods window, not realizing that 'normal' mods manually get put in the mods folder. Completely different from what they just saw.
anyway, how did you install mod loader etc? chances are that is where the fault lies.
all jar altering mods (modloader, audio mod, forge, NEI etc) must be put into the instMods folder (accessable by r-clicking (ctrl+click?) on the instance and selecting 'add mods') once the zips for the Jar altering mods have been added r-click on the instance and select 'edit mods', here you must choose the load order from 1st (top) to Last(bottom). once the load order is complete run the instance to generate the mods folder.
from there close the instance and then r-click on the instance once more and select 'view folder'. the window that appears will contain a folder called 'minecraft'. other than jar altering mods treat this as any other minecraft install folder and place the mods where need be.
hopefully that helped
Thanks! Gotta say, that's extremely complex for something without a tutorial.
Well I went back and tried to do what you said, when I realized all the mods I was trying to install were ones I install on the jar, and I had been doing it the right way in that regard. So now I'm back to square one. I tried moving around the files so as to help the program identify what goes in the jar, because I didn't what else to do, and that didn't help, so I'm completely at a loss.
Whenever i try and add mods using MultiMC it brings me to a folder and it doesnt seem capable of adding it, and i cant find any tutorials on it. Direwolf's vid is v 3, not 2.3 so im stuck :/
Bigger issue now -- this all works in Windows. But when I try to replicate the process on Ubuntu, it... doesn't work.
I added all my JAR-changing mods to the instMods folder, which works on Windows. However, on Ubuntu, the JAR is not modified at all, except for the META-INF folder being deleted. Any ideas why the mod ZIPs are not being extracted and put into the minecraft.jar?
1. make a new folder and open it
2. open the BTW mod zip
3. go into 'MINECRAFT-JAR'
4. copy all the files into the new folder
5. with all files highlighted r-click and 'add to archive'
if option not available, open compression software and navigate to the new folder
has to be the files archived not the folder
6. save the archive as BTW.zip
7. put modloader in instMod
6. put Audiomod in instMod
8. put BTW.zip in instMod
I have checked this install in creative, and so far I have a rather nice windmill :iapprove;
Thanks for trying to help me with this, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I guess I'm just going to wait until 3.0 comes out and hope my problem is fixed with that.
fair enough, but I don't think it will change with the install problems. by the looks of it 3.0 is built the same way so unless flowerchild offers another download option this will be the only fix available.
Im gonna post on the BTW thread and see is flowerchild would be willing to set up the .zip so its easy for users to use withMultiMC
Lol you can try. Knowing Flowerchild, I don't expect much from him.

But it's not working for my 64 bit windows
For anyone that is getting this error on Ubuntu when trying to login, run this:
Answer "y" to all of the requests to add the certificate to the stores.
It will add the necessary SSL certificates to the Mono certificate store. It fixed the issue for me.
