i have the standard of 1GB allocated but only used 250-300MB. i use the mcpatcher HD settings and all video options on high. but if i use a complete vanilla i have the same problem
For starters, use Optifine instead. Optifine provides the same functionality as MCPatcher, but more options, and doesn't "patch" your jar. It is also compatible with MultiMC, in that you can just put it in the Jar Mods tab (along with Forge), and it will work.
What are your PC specs?

i don't know if this has been suggested before but could you add the ability to enable/disable mods without removing them? that would be so useful in finding incompatibilities between or with mods
Installed gtk#. Rebooted. I have windows xp, 32bit.

and it cant be the problem with mcpatcher cause vanilla (completely unpatched/unmodded/no texturepack) has the same problem
Quick question, whats your GPU? Integrated or Discreet? Cause having a good discreet GPU makes the biggest performance difference. Are you using the Advanced Open GL option? Try switching that on/off and let us now what that does

Ok first of all, why are you installing GTK#? That hasn't been a requirement since version 2...
Secondly, you need to update your Java. MultiMC requires at least Java 6.

He has a point, however, Minecraft is extra heavy on CPU, and not as bad on GPU, comparitively.

BTW, just started playing with this and I'm loving it! Makes it so easy to manage Minecraft. Thank you for developing a great program!
