I'm trying to use this to delete a block that is crashing my game from a Fabric 1.15.2 mod (can't use MCedit because it's too outdated for this, and can't use worldEdit because I can't load the chunk without crashing) can someone help me with this?
I'm trying to find and replace a specific DataVersion value in my world. I can use Find to locate the DataVersion tags, but when I use Find and Replace to search for that Int Tag it never finds the tags. I've also tried search/replace using the any-type tag but it still doesn't find the tag.
I've been risking RSI trying to fix a mc save using NBTExplorer, and I could use some help with this...
Basically, in the search function, I can find a deleted_mod_name:thispartdoesntmatter tag by searching deleted_mod_name or deleted_mod_name:
I can then press F3 and Delete to remove the offending tag or group one at a time.
I need a way to automate this.
I have tried the Find and Replace function several times. It takes a long time for F&R to do its thing, and in the end, it does nothing but waste time.
Has anyone gotten the F&R function to work for deleting a tag or group using Replace All? How did you get it to work?

Some things that could help:
- To match tags with any value, select "Any" in drop-down list and leave the "Tag Value" field empty when adding the rule.
- To delete the matched tags, leave the "Replacement Tags" list empty and enable the "Delete matched tags before applying replacements" option before using the "Replace" or "Replace All" buttons.
- Unlike the "Find" tool (ctrl+F and F3), the "Replace" tool (ctrl+H) searches for Tag Names exactly (whole name and case-sensitive). Also, it doesn't matches the name of "List" or "Compound" tags.
Help. I recently died in my hardcore world and I heard that this thing can edit my save to make me not dead. I tried downloading it but it sais I need the newer version, where do I get it?

The crash report in this case show you the location of that block.
This looks like this:
Entity Name: "block-id"
Entity's Exact location: 911,50, 69,15, 1092,50
Entity's Block location: World: (911,69,1092), Chunk: (at 15,4,4 in 56,68; contains blocks 896,0,1088 to 911,255,1103),
Region: (1,2; contains chunks 32,64 to 63,95, blocks 512,0,1024 to 1023,255,1535)
The red one is your region file - with NBTExplorer open (in this case) the region file r.1.2.mca in /saves/worldname/region/
There look for the chunk (in world at) 56,68
There check the entries for that block-id and its position
If you find that one, click on it and press the X
Or use this thread:
https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-java-edition/discussion/297844-official-corrupted-save-recovery-thread
and add your save, version/modlist and crash-report

Tag Name: DataVersion
Equals
Tag Value: 2584
What am I doing wrong with my rules?
If anybody sees this I'm still looking for an answer.
Would it be possible for you to add an export option?
For example lets say you have a compound and you wish to migrate it to another file
You could export the compound to its own file (or system clipboard as json) and then add it to the other file.
This doesnt work 1.16
cannot install how do i install. I am on Linux and the instructions you gave to install mention a non-existant file called NBTExplorer.app.
Page 1, post 1, of this very thread, under downloads
https://github.com/jaquadro/NBTExplorer/releases/tag/v2.8.0-win
The link above is for Windows and LINUX
HTH
That is a stand-alone application. I have no idea where to find something that works within MC.
Links to pdf format, downloadable, command lists for (these often clarify/expand descriptions, and where possible link to the author's posting):

Automatic updater and downgrader of structures would be great
How to install?
how do you download?
At releases click on the zip file

Does NBTExplorer work on level.dat files generated by minecraft bedrock? Just wondering.
Maybe try manually editing your NBT inside the .mca file.

You can get the latest build here:
https://github.com/jaquadro/NBTExplorer/releases
The Mac version of NBTExplorer doesn't work anymore because it is a 32-bit app. macOS only supports 64-bit apps now.
Can anybody Tell me for which versions of minecraft this is?
