This may be a bit off topic but I am going to ask it anyway.
Is there a way to search multiple player.dat files for particular values? For example spawn point. I run a Building server that I took over when the original owner retired. Often I find extremely nice builds in the world and have no idea of who the player is that built them. However there usually is a bed. I have far too many files to go through them one at a time, (over 20,000) from the previous owner, though most only visited briefly. Is there a way to search all the player.dat files for these coords? Our policy is to maintain the Mega Builds, I would like to be able to give the players who built them credit for doing so, even if it is just a sign.
I want to use the old NBTedit (I used it on my old PC), but the link takes me to a minecraftforum.net page that says "Forbiden". Is their anything I can do to access the old NBTedit?
The following link is for NBTExplorer; https://github.com/jaquadro/NBTExplorer.
Did you go to the help page of the Mod you're seeking?
Often there is a link there.

Amazing! i had a invalid player move packet thing and this is what fixed it, 10/10 would use again to fix a bug that causes me to not be able to play at all
Anyone else holding off upgrade to Catalina because NBTExplorer is not supported? Hoping NBTExplorer gets a 64 bit update soon, or an alternate editor becomes available. Not sure how much longer I can hold off before Apple forces the update to Catalina.
I've been trying to use NBTExplorer to generate a nether fortress in a world where structures had been disabled. I've turned structures on for newly generated chunks but now I'm trying to unload the chunks in the nether and its not working. When I try to open one of the individual chunk files inside the mca, the program crashes and it also won't let me delete any of the files either, the option to do so is greyed out.
Could anyone help me figure out how to do this, thank you!
Oh and also any advice on how to figure out which specific chunk is stored in which chunk files. I've found multiple complicated looking formulas using the coordinates you're in, but does anyone know the simplest method?

I have updated my world from 1.12.2 to 1.15.2 and although the area of exploration is huge the buildings, structures and caves I have been to and built are close to spawn and there really are not that many so I was hoping to prune the areas around them.
Is there a method for updating the unchanged chunks around my structures in my single player world without loosing my caves, buildings and structures?
I don't know who provides your antivirus. Mine is Norton. EVERYTHING with few downloads (Mods especially when just updated) Norton flags as dangerous. That's just an easy way for Norton to keep adware to a minimum.
It is possible (although not easy) with Norton to override their warning. Norton isn't the only antivirus that takes shortcuts!
Odds are very good that anything found here (microsoftforum.net is safe), not all sites Google finds are!!!
Good luck and please be careful.

NBTExplorer no longer works on macOS Catalina (10.15) as it's a 32bit program and macOS now only supports 64bit programs.
Useful, would highly recommend. Though a bit slow and prone to chrashing at times.

I do not have permission to download the file?
I can't get this to work, I change tags, then I log into the world and nothing changed.
If I change anything ingame I can see it change on the file I see on the program, but not the other way around
Two possibilities come to mind.
1. Did you close Minecraft before starting NBT?
2. Did you save the changes made with NBT before you closed it and restarted Minecraft?

I'm 99.9% certain that is a safe link. I would still scan it with your antivirus before opening or installing it. Blame the MSgt in me!

hi, when I open up the application I do not have the save folder, is there a way to fix this?

"EDIT" This looks like just the ticket ->
And Also this ->
Signature removed by popular demand.
How do you even open NBT Explorer, it says that the app has been outdated.
on mac it says it needs to be updated for Catalina. Will it ever has support for that?
I am literally on mac Catalina Version 10.15.4
Any updates on this?
The ZIP file was detected as dangerous. The MSI worked, though, and it's pretty interesting. I'll look at it more in the future!
