As far as I know, Amidst has never worked on a server unless the person using it is the owner/administrator of the server.(and even then I don't know if it does)
The reason being the seed is not available to no one but that person.

Server seeds aren't public exactly because of programs like Amidst that would map the server world and give that user an undeserved advantage.

Also, it has been my experience that Amidst v3.7 works with any version of Mindcraft from Beta 1.8.1 through and including Release 1.8 (the current version).

The site with the online mapper for Slime Chunks, Villages, Mineshafts, Nether Fortresses, Strongholds, Desert Temples, Jungle Temples, Witch Huts, Ocean Monuments, and Biomes is http://chunkbase.com/apps/.

The Biomes mapper produces a map of just the biomes almost exactly the same as Amidst but with less resolution.

I'm going to answer these in reverse order.
3. Ocean Monuments is on the the To Do list and will be added when the author has time from his real life of earning money to eat and provide himself shelter.

2. Interesting idea but I doubt that we'll see that done any time soon.

1. Are you aware of Ctrl-T that saves a PNG file of your current view? All you have to do is:
goto Map>Layers to set what you want to show, (or use Ctrl- 1 thru 8)
size your window,
pan and zoom to set view and scale,
then use Ctrl-T to provide a name and save the file.

I usually paste the numeric seed (from Ctrl-C) in as the file name.

Just out of curiosity, with regard to some of these errors people are having: you are aware that just creating a profile for a Minecraft version will not insure that Amidst will run correctly, don't you?

Amidst uses a LOT of the world generator code that is located inside the minecraft.jar file and that file has to exist on your machine.

If you create a profile the Minecraft launcher creates the folder for that profile in the folder "versions", BUT the Minecraft version executable .jar isn't downloaded UNTIL you actually run that Minecraft profile. You don't have to create or play a world, but you do have to actually click "Play" in the Launcher to get it to download the necessary files.

EDIT: I just learned something about the MC launcher. I have been annoyed that it starts up with different profile selected down in the lower left hand corner when I start it than the one I usually play (currently 1.8). I've found that the launcher defaults to the last profile that you have edited so if it is defaulting to a profile other than the one you usually play just select that profile, click on "edit profile" and then immediately click on "save profile". That will set your default profile.
