I'm going to ask a dumb question: Only 1 of the 3 identified strongholds were at the cords given by Amidst, what can cause this? Running v3.7 with MC 1.8 vanilla.
I've never seen it to be wrong on stronghold locations, after many tests under many versions. It does give a location that is a block or two offset from the corner (forget which, north maybe?) of the tallest staircase in the stronghold, so if you dig down a single block at the coordinate given, you might have a chance of missing all the stronghold tunnels. We discussed this several pages back, maybe a year ago, lol and figured out exactly where you should dig from the coordinates given to hit the staircase 100% of the time. Maybe Big Alan remembers, if he still hangs around here.

Awesome, thanks so much for the helpful info. My guess is that I have missed the stronghold, first being too close, and then widening my circle too far and it should be somewhere in between, much closer to the coordinates given by AMIDST! Thanks!

If you dig a 3x3 hole centered exactly on the coords AMIDST gives, you should hit it. I think, maybe 5x5 lol

Amidst doesn't work for me. 2 messages appear :
AMIDST has crashed with the following message: Unable to find class method (GenLayer / bpa) (initializeAllBiomeGenerators / a)
AMIDST has crashed with the following message: Amidst has encountered an uncaught exception o thread: Tread[AWT-EventQueue-0,6,main]

What am I suposed to do with this? O.o
I'm getting the same error whenever I choose a profile.

I'm having the same issue and I have a legitimate client - bought and paid for the game. I'm confused what the issue is.
Its buggy and doesn't work seems like a dead project since no one seems interested in updating the files. Some of the files havent even been updated correctly for newer versions almost like they were skipped and someone just opted to wing it to see if it will work. Disappointing.

It does not find ocean dungeons or whatever they are called (yet)
Get version 3.7 from the github link in the OP. Click "16 releases" in the toolbar then download the version for your OS: exe for Windows, jar for Linux I guess? and zip for Mac? Dunno, but the exe works fine on windows, can load a Minecraft 1.8 profile and preview a seed.
Did you get the most recent version of 3.7 from the github link? Works fine with 1.8 for me, just doesn't find ocean dungeons, which it is not supposed to find, otherwise it works fine.

I've never found Amidst to be wrong when reporting the coordinates of strongholds. I have, however, dug straight down all the way to bedrock at the location indicated and TOTALLY missed the stronghold.
The coordinates for the strongholds are the X and Z values of a point 2 blocks north and 2 blocks west of the northwest corner of the stairwell located in every stronghold complex. Sometimes this column of blocks won't intersect any of the stronghold, unlikely, but possible.
Go to to the location indicated and then move diagonally 2 to 6 blocks to the southeast and dig straight down. When you hit a block of mossy stone bricks or stone bricks you are on top of the stairwell. This will be a 5x5 stone brick surface unless it has been damaged by air spaces created in the stronghold.
For example, I just created a random world with a seed provided by Amistv3.7 (7729373982668164637) using PCMCv1.8 vanilla and went to the location indicated for one of the strongholds (-912,688).
I found the top northwest corner of the stairwell at -910,46,690. The center block of the stairwell ceiling is at -908,46,692.
The y value, of course, can vary from stronghold to stronghold.

Thanks BigAlanM! I did follow this advice from Dweller_Benthos above and can confirm that I eventually found the stronghold by expanding outward from the coordinates given by Amidst and heading down

When will this program updated?
Version 3.7 works fine with Minecraft 1.8

Read back a few pages, there is a web site that will find these for you in the meantime, until AMIDST is updated.
