Hey- found this thread on Google. Seems a bit out of date, but the question itself is still valid and people are still using this thread to find solutions for this topic. So- I'm going to provide some more updated information and give a link to a more updated tool for this purpose.

Spritecraft, previously at diamondpants.com, has moved to https://autosaved.org/spritecraft
It has been updated very recently and has all the newest blocks. It is also web-based now.
