im starting to use this im in 1.2.3 and have a smp server, its not working, i have slimes spawning where i am but it always says false. does anyone know a possible reason why?
i AM GETTING to different seeds.
One from the level.dat file
and the other from the F3 screen
I am testing both but am not 100% sure
which one should I use?
Is there now way to get the seed in SMP in V1.2.4, so this nice mod works as well.
It is really a shame that Mojang broke the game this way.
The correct way would have been to make a boolean flag in the config file, to disable/enable showing of the seed in SMP.
A shame Mojang broke this nice feature :-(
Unfortunately not without altering the server. It may be possible to derive the spawning chunks using the actual spawns (if a slime spawns in chunk A, this would be a slime chunk), but no idea how well that would work (especially how far one would have to be away from the slime spawns). There is also the theoretical possibility to brute force (guess) the seed (overkill ).
I'm not up to date with all the specifics either.. What I'm quite sure of is that they now spawn up to level 39 (Player Y Coord up to 40.6) and that big slimes now require a room height of 3. Apparently, slime spawning is still very slow.
I just made a superflat map and made a thick wall between several chunks. After one hour or so, the chunks marked by both the mod and the online app were filled with slimes while the others were empty. So I'm pretty convinced the chunk thing hasn't changed and that the app still works.
If you still haven't seen any slime spawns, feel free to upload your world somewhere and send me the link.
There's no special rule based on the player's distance to the chunk, and you don't have to be in that chunk. As with other mobs, you have to be 25 blocks or so away.
And to people having trouble... I noticed a significant increase in slime production when I lit up surrounding caves anywhere near the slime farm area. You have to mine a bit to find most/all of them... but yeah it basically limits the spawn of other mobs (zombies, spiders, skeletons) thus increasing the chances that a slime will spawn.
is the online one updated, or just the download?

Thanks
Online tool didn't need to be changed (and hasn't been since its release, btw).

alright thank you, if memory serves i should be able to find the seed with f3 right?

The indicator you see is based on the seed 0. So unless your server uses that seed for some reason, it's wrong.

They still haven't. But your seed might have been changed for some reason.

Should I use the level.dat file or the
level.dat_old file to find slimes?
