Created built-in application launcher to determine machine type and load correct Java-3D libraries. Separate Java-3D installation is now not necessary.
Re-wrote Java-3D object model code to allow for models other than simple blocks.
Optimized Java-3D model representation. Now uses 25% less memory.
Optimized model re-texturing.
Implemented back face culling for faster rendering.
Increased threading on Java-3D model display to make application more responsive during 3D rendering.
Added Stair models.
Modified layer and plan views to make half-blocks and stairs visually different from their similarly textured full blocks.
Neat! My only problem is that the 3D doesn't zoom in or out. Really awesome program though. On mac os x 10.6 if that helps
Edit: got it working, but the 3d feature could use some work
I'm re-writing the 3D display to dump the Java 3D OrbitBehavior object (which is what doesn't work on OS X.) As soon as I've implemented it all manually then I'll push a patch release. It'll definitely be this week some time, maybe even tonight.
HI, it's a really nice piece of software (way better than MCEdit to build more complicated stuff IMO), but I have one problem, that makes it pretty much unusable.
I can launch the .exe file, but the problems start once I select some structure in the menu. Kinda hard to explain, but I'll try with an example: when I select freeform structure, the only thing that I can see, is the scroll bar for textures, I scroll it down, and then textures show up. Generate and other buttons only show up if I hover my mouse over them, but the design area is still blank, and I cant write anything anywhere.
But If I select a cyrcle as a structure, it loads up perfectly fine, I can enter diameter and generate the cyrcle, but the 3D wouldn't show up.
I have downloaded newest Java, didn't helped. I have a x64 system, can that be a problem?
What heap size are you running? Can you try running from the command line using a 256MB heap (you can find the instructions in the FAQ at http://minecraftstructureplanner.com/index.php/about/faq) Also, which version of Java are you running?
Mac users, this one's for you! Thanks for being so patient. (Windows and Linux users will like this too.)
* Mouse rotate/tilt/zoom controls now work across all platforms. Left-click plus mouse drag will rotate and tilt your 3D model (keyboard equivalent is the cursor keys.) Scroll wheel will zoom your 3D model (keyboard equivalent is shift plus cursor keys.) And there was much rejoicing
* Fixed bug when saving a pre-generated design with no selected texture.
Ah what the heck. I had a little time before bed so I added multi-monitor support in too. You can now move the Structure Planner onto any monitor you want and use it without error.
Added a 'magic slider' to the right of the 3D display. Give it a try - I think you'll like it, and it's really useful for checking your build progress!
Aperantelly, it all the newest version kinda fixed it, I am still experiencing some minor problems with the freeform and textures doesnt show in other modes untill I slide the sliding bar, but thats nothing that I couldn't live with, and 3D view is showing perfectly now.
But anyways, just in case you find something that would fix it completely, here are my specs:
I have a HP Pavillion dm4 laptop, Intel Core i5 at 2.26Ghz, 4 gb ram and Intel GMA HD (I know, I know, the best machine to run Minecraft, but its pretty capable with the games I want to play, and I can get steady fps in Minecraft)
By the way, thanks for support man, I really respect people like you, who do not just leave problems like that, but actually help the regular user, thanks.
There's your problem - you're using the Early Access release of JRE7. That causes all sorts of redraw issues with the Structure Planner. If you switch back to using JRE6 then I bet it'll all work.
awesome tool but after i updated to the newer version, 3D view doesnt work anymore :sad.gif:
What happens? Could you tell me what machine and O/S you're running on. Also could you run the application from the command line and post any exceptions you get?
Release 0.99.7 has just gone live. A few big features in this one, plus some minor improvements and bug fixes:
Texture Sets - The texture filter and texture panel both now use user-defined texture sets to organize which textures are to be displayed and used. Texture sets can be defined and edited through the File-->Preferences dialog under the Texture Sets tab.
Texture Packs - Custom texture packs can now be used in place of the default Minecraft textures. Texture packs can be configured through the File-->Preferences dialog under the Texture Packs tab.
User Preferences - The application can now be configured and customized through the user preferences system, which stores your particular configuration locally.
Layer Scrolling - When using the layer panel, shift + mouse wheel will now move you up and down through the structure layers.
I've made a quick video demonstrating the new features which

Can you give me the specifications of the machine you're running on? Also the system properties from the About box would be helpful.
Thanks,

I'll get this thing working with Java 7 eventually, but I'll wait until it's actually released before doing so.

I'll put together a couple more tutorial videos on my site. I'm also working on implementing an interactive help system which should make life easier.

Not yet. I've not even heard of that mod.

oh ok you should try that mod it adds mobs that build randomly or you can control them. but you can write .txt files for custom buildings.

Interesting. Sounds a bit like the 'Ruins' mod. I'll take a look at it!
