in linux, it asks if you really want to do that, when you click on a .desktop-shortcut, it tells you that the executable bit is not set for .jars, it does nothing when you click on a binary without executable bit and opens nonexecutable scripts in the text editor :wink.gif:

Yeah, I just figured that Linux folks were used to this sort of thing and would Know What To Do, so I didn't sweat it much. I run Linux myself (though I do most everything from the commandline).
Okay, well I did get word from one person on email that packaging it up in a .tbz2 does work on OSX, so hopefully it'll take care of the issue for more than one person.
In addition to the repackaging, this actually also includes user-customizable key mappings, which I believe should be useful to some Mac folks who had said that the defaults were subpar on OSX. They will be stored in
in Linux, or basically just alongside wherever Minecraft puts its ".minecraft" directory. The file will be created when you launch the app. There's no GUI to edit keybindings currently, but you can at least edit it in a text file.
The key names in the file should come from lwjgl.org, though without the "KEY_" prefix.
My maps won't load on this. Everythings just black, including the mini map.
Could you zip up your world file and put it online somewhere so I could take a look on my end? Thanks!
No problem, I'll get on that. But first I should probably mention that I used BiomeTerrain Mod (the new beta version) as well as a few others. Recently I noticed Cartograph crashes when I attempt to render a map as well. I think its just a universal issue caused by a mod I have installed. Is this a known issue or something like that?

It does seem likely that the mod is getting in the way, but it might be something I could easily work around in the code. We'll find out, I suppose!
There you go. Just generated this world and tried to open it. Got nothing but blackness. Tried turning on different minerals and it doesnt load or show anything. And when I load the maps in the program it loads really quickly, only going through "moving camera to single player" or something like that.

Okay, well that world doesn't actually have any level data associated with it that X-Ray can recognize. Have you actually used that world in Minecraft itself? I wonder if that mod changes how Minecraft stores its data, because the only files in there which might contain level data are in the "region" directory.
At any rate, if that really is how that mod stores level data, then then X-Ray won't be able to load it, I'm afraid.
Well, thats really strange.. I can't see why the mod would make the game store data differently.. The world runs fine in-game.
I also have Optimine and MCRegion installed. Perhaps those could change the way the game saves data. Here's a link to the threads incase you haven't seen them.
Aha, yeah - if you look at the details for the MCRegion mod, it does change how Minecraft stores the data. I'll take a look at maybe supporting that in some future update, but I'm afraid it's not going to be much of a priority since I don't actually use any mods myself.
Edit: And actually, Notch has been been talking about a new file format that they'll be using, anyway - I'll end up just waiting for that and we'll see if that MCRegion stuff is even necessary anymore.

Figures. I had a feeling that would be it after I remembered what it does. Guess I'll be doing without MCRegion for a bit.
FYI there's a new painting, a 4x4 block on the bottom row of the painting file, see this for positioning, that's my custom 32x32 painting file, it's the one on the bottom right. Notch just keeps forgetting to actually add the graphic to the default painting file, or it would be in there in the deafult game.
On another note.... have you seen this viewtopic.php?f=25&t=72284 a handy little utility.... makes mining much easier, unfortunately, not updated to include the new ores and the link to the source code doesn't work. But if you're ever bored with fixing Xray......

Ah, yeah - I knew about that but haven't taken the time to figure out the name of the painting to associate with. Not that it would take much work, but I haven't done it yet. Probably it'll just remain unimplemented until there's more info on the wiki. Your custom paintings look nice!

Heh, we'll see about that, though it looks like you accidentally just linked to your painting topic again; you may want to relink.

Thanks. I'll look up the name of the painting tonight since I only have it placed on the world on the computer at home.

D'oh! viewtopic.php?f=25&t=72284 stupid clipboard. Just wishful thinking really, though it would be nice to get that utility updated, I have a lot of new land since the new ores were introduced, and they need a little lift.
On another note, I was thinking, for the mini map, would it be a good idea to use the same technique Minutor uses for their "Hide Obscured" function? It essentially turns off anything that is surrounded by rock, I think. Makes the nether map much easier to read, and less useless. Also works nice for viewing underground while in caves. Just a thought.

Which "Download" button to press? I hate it how every single file uploading site has huge amounts of pop-ups and advertisements, and often with misleading download buttons that actually download a virus instead of your requested file.
Yeah, I just figured that Linux folks were used to this sort of thing and would Know What To Do, so I didn't sweat it much. I run Linux myself (though I do most everything from the commandline).
So, I've officially released Maintenance Branch 7 at the usual spot: http://apocalyptech.com/minecraft/xray/

That's already supported; it's been included since Maintenance Branch 5.

Thanks for the help, appreciate it :3
