Here's the Cygwin script I put together and call from cron every hour:
Thanks for giving me a way to get it from the minecraft server to the webserver. I'll be using that once I get it to work. I'm hoping I just did something stupid. As usual. Attempting to do the complicated before I know the basics.
So does anyone know much about how to make the google maps bit work?
I fixed it. Seems you don't need to mess around with getting a google API key thing.
This is after I've filled in with correct user and directory, it continues to scan world data and such. After it is done the chunk cache is: 293831113 hits and 18340 misses.
On my website, the map is incomplete. as seen here: http://wafflemc.com/-m/pigmap-default.html
The random colors might be the terrain.png? I am not sure.
Help is appreciated,
Dewaffler
When I do /home/user/pigmap/pigmap -B 6 -T 1 -Z 10 -i /home/user/input/ -o /var/www/output -g /home/user/ -h 3
I get "bash: /home/user/pigmap: is a directory" -.- the hell, if that's all this thing does I'm pretty unimpressed. I had a 2gb server map I needed rendering for the players and no program can handle the massive size. With a lack of tutorial on how to run it and the successful runs only posting things that result in messages like this... How is this supposed to catch on?
Edit: 2 hours later, have turned up nil. Am I missing something blatantly obvious here what exactly do I compile from this stack of 9 bloody header files, 10 c++ source files, and the template n make file wherte does the world folder fit in to any of this, and for that matter where in the hell does this puzzle box Cygwin fit in.
Edit2: Yea. hope someone else with windows 7 can figure this out, the only thing Cygwin knows how to do is "command not found" and "this directory exists".

First I want to say I appreciate your reply however when I tried changing the directory (which to my pleasure worked) it didn't seem to affect the overall problem. I just know i'm missing something obvious, I have a link to a screencap of what i'm seeing with alot of red"ed out username.
The file directory of Cygwin is off of the base C drive, and the Pigmap folder is inside the Cygwin folder's home folder (c:/Cygwin/home/user/pigmap) and that contains all of the pigmap scripts.

Type "ls" to make sure you actually HAVE the file...
Just to check XD
I'm using my actual login user name as shown by my Documents and settings, it's Nin. I thought it was just common to highlight out that or refer to it as just User.
Sorry to be such a pain I just can't figure out why it isn't working.
Something's off w/ this mapping program, can anybody help me out? Everything is oriented backwards. IE North is South, East is West. Is there a flag or something when I build my map to orient this correctly?

Hey, I have a HUGE world and when I generate the pigmap, it's many many gigabytes. I want to limit the zoom to just 1 or 2 levels, but this is the command I use to even get it to generate:
I am really curious to know (as many others are, I'm sure) if you are planning to update the Pigmap map renderer for the new block types introduced in Minecraft 1.8. I sincerely hope you are planning to. You really have created the best 3d map renderer there is for Minecraft. I am able to update my multi-world server hourly thanks to the efficiency of your incremental updates and fast processing.
I sent an email to the author of Pigmap. Just got a reply to my email! This is good news!!!

Hi Nick,
I am hoping to update it sometime, yeah. I've been pretty busy in real life lately, but I do plan to get around to it eventually.
master@minecraft-box:~$ ./pigmap -i /home/master/Minecraft/world -o /home/master/www/map -g /home/master/www/res -B 6 -T 1 -Z 10
/home/master/www/res/blocks-6.png not found (or failed to read as PNG); will try to build from terrain.png
couldn't find terrain.png and/or fire.png
no block images available; aborting render
The terrain.png image is defintiely in that directory.
(and so is fire.png)

yeah when you cd into pigmap what do you see?
http://tinyurl.com/9l6km29
user@computer /home/user/pigmap
$
thats it. just type that replacing user with you.
Sorry to be such a pain I just can't figure out why it isn't working.
Would I need something linux based to compile or can I do it with a C#/++ compiler???
./pigmap -i /home/user/Projects/Minecraft/world -o /home/user/Projects/Minecraft/Map -h 4 -B 16 -T 16 -Z 2 baseZoom -B 16 -T 16 -Z 16
Any suggestions for how to get it to generate, but just create 1-2 zoom levels? Thanks!

Fenlig,
Do you know where to get an updated terrain.png? I don't see one on the pigmap website?
