When it says that, it means there isn't an update. The tool is by far rendered useless now that the new launcher doesn't force you to update.
I disagree. You can't back-date your client even with the new launcher. I really appreciated this tool for testing some older version map generating algorithms to compare to newer versions and some other tools effects on the different maps generated by different versions. Your McNostalgia tool has been invaluable in accomplishing this.
I was referring to MCBackup, not MCNostalgia.

Not necessarily - some people won't download the new launcher, and these people are the most likely to log in just for the sake of it while not having a back-up copy of "minecraft.jar" with mods installed.
Then again, such people are much more likely to create a new thread demanding help instead of searching for this tool.
Exactly, and such people need to shut up and quit being handed everything. As I said MCBackup is rendered useless by the new launcher, if they can't see the couple hundred posts/threads on the new launcher, and still complain about having updates forced on them, it's their own fault. Now, if they live in a cave and never visit the forums ever, they'll never see MCBackup. Either way, I'm considering taking it down.

So I can't revert my Minecraft to version 1.2_02? That sucks. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to wait for another update for Mo' Creatures lol.
system platform is win32
execdir set to C:/Users/family/Desktop/MCnostalgia/Patcher
Version is 0.7
appdata set to C:/Users/family/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/bin

Patching minecraft.jar
Patching lwjgl.jar
Patching lwjgl_util.jar
Patching jinput.jar

Script closing.
It shouldn't be blank. The latest log file in the log folder, yes? The log files wouldn't be blank even if you ran the program and closed it without doing anything.

MAybe I'm using the wrong option? I was trying to revert back to 1.2_02. If I'm an idiot, which I most likely am, apologies.
If you used the patch option, and made sure to have the patches in the folder with MCNostalgia.py, you did it right.

Okay, since the logs didn't show anything wrong, and the file sizes are alright, the only thing I can think of is to use the emergency tool option, then try patching from there.
I am really looking forward to the MCsanitizer tool. Is it still in production, canceled, or am I just missing it. I want to purge my old world of all the mods tainting it so that I can convert it to go back to vanilla Minecraft 1.3_01. I love my mods of course but my builds were epic and and hours of hard work have gone to waste with the latest update. I fully would support MCsanitizer if it were to be made.

Would use mcnostalaga if it was possible to revert to Indev. I wanna try Indev out really bad.
Yeah, it's not possible at the moment because indev requires 'logging in,' and the launcher doesn't work for logging in indev. I think Notch may have removed the serverside parts to it.

It's still in development, I'm more concerned about updating MCNostalgia at the moment.

not working
after i put 1.2_2 patch the same place as MC
i only get 1 file in minecraft.jar
a.class
You put the patch files in the same place as MCNostalgia, not MC.
A minecraft.jar that's modified in any way, such as using the HD texture patcher or deleting META-INF. The tool requires a clean minecraft.jar, untouched and unmodified. Run the Emergency Tool, then run the minecraft launcher so that it redownloads everything, and then try patching it.
Thank you soo much for this program Cyborg! It doesn't seem like you get enough credit for making a program like this, but I will be honest this is probably one of my all time favorite minecraft mods, please do not take it down though because many people use it, some just don't give you credit for it.
For everyone who is trying to go to patch to beta v.1.2_02 but are stuck at the "done loading" screen, emergency patch with nostalgia, update, then repatch back to beta v1.2_02 and you're good to go! (Cyborg said it before but I juts wanted to clarify to other who were stuck but couldn't figure it out)

I tried Real Life once. It had awesome graphics but the gameplay sucked..

You can, the 1.2_02 patch files are there.

Could you paste the log here? Also, what is the filesize of the 'patched' minecraft.jar?
The log? Do you mean the text that appears when I ran Mcnostalgia.py and hit 1, then enter?
If so...
And, of course, if I press enter, it take me back to the part with the 5 options.
If you mean the log in the log folder, it's blank.
Blank... It's blank...
Edit: I tried again and got this:

After a little bit of fiddling around, I got it back to that patch number. Thanks very much, good sir!
