After patching,my Minecraft freezes at the Updating screen until I unpatch.
Hmm, it seems to be working. It found your version file, it appears to have backed up the files without any issues, and then it appears it have patched the files without any issues. The unpatcher also appears to have run perfectly fine with no issues.

Well then I don't understand.I put the Alpha 1.2.6 files into the Patcher folder, then I launch the app, press 1,wait until it says "Press ENTER to continue",do so,and then quit by pressing 5.Then,I launch my Minecraft, log in,and it gets stuck on the updating screen with 99% done and saying "done loading".The same thing happens if I play in offline mode.
Make sure you have an unmodified copy of 1.1_02 before patching. That's probably your issue. Run the emergency tool, then run Minecraft so it will redownload a fresh, clean copy, and finally try the patcher after all that.

Ah,that made it work.Thanks.I didn't really think that retexturing boats to look like rafts made a big difference, but I guess I was wrong.
If you read my post, I said I know giving out jars is illegal, however, I am offering an alternative and asking peoples' opinions of said alternative. The alternative being binary difference patches.
You're asking people who are barely literate for their opinion on a highly technical issue. I suggest that possibly the person you should be asking if this is okay with them is Notch.

It appears the Patches folder is missing from the download... I've read through the entire OP and through all the replies and haven't seen anyone say the patch files were not found. And I didn't see a link to the patch files. Were they forgotten in this update? Sorry if I missed something, but after reading it 3 times I figured I'd ask

Look below the download, you will see another one that says "The Patches." You'll also notice the version history I said I put the patches in separate download so that people wouldn't have to redownload the tool each time the game updates.
Most people put a separator of some form between to links that look like they're together. Sorry. And I read the version history but like I said in my post, I wasn't sure if you had forgotten to add it or not, as I never saw a second link to it.
Thanks though, I'll play around with this now. It sounds like an excellent program.

I would guess you tried it with a modded copy?
