Appreciate your making it possible to use mcmap easily on Mac OS X. I have a small request.. Would you be able to make it possible to have a progress indicator of some sort when "Rendering World"? I'm trying to save an image of a 6kx6k block map and it takes a good while. It would really nice to have some visual indicator to let me know how close that process is to getting done. Progress bar, percentage indicator.. something along those lines.
I absolutely love this program! The night mode has been really helpful in relocating small remote bases lit by torches, and my pc using friends are actually jealous of this program.
I recently installed McRegion and though I knew your mapper wouldn't work with the region chunking format, I miss using it a lot. Do you think you could work with Scaevolus to figure out a way to map regions?
Also, something I thought would be helpful, a refresh button that would keep the current view but update for newly formed chunks. I have to switch to the nether and back to see new chunks on the map, but it resets the view when I do that.
Thanks, this is a great app. One request, though: could you please make it a bit less chatty? Have an option to launch it in verbose mode if you need that for debugging, but the tens of thousands of lines it's dumped into my log file from a few minutes of consecutive use seems a tad excessive.
Also, I suggest remapping the default keyboard shortcuts. ⌘N should never be used for anything other than new document/window, and ⌘F should be mapped to “Block Finder” rather than “Flush Cache” (for which ⌘R might be appropriate). In fact, “Find Blocks” might be a better name for that menu item, as “block” can be a verb as well as a noun and “Finder” is a Mac application. When I first saw the menu item I thought it was intended to prevent Finder from doing something.

This behavior seems to depend on OS version. Sometimes the NSTask dumps tons of stuff to the system log, sometimes it doesn't. (The whole thing is kind of a mess of undocumented system version-specific behavior) I'll make it explicitly pipe to /dev/null next version if I can. If it'll listen.

I'll take these under consideration. There will be a UI overhaul to reorganize all the menus at some point.
Total shot in the dark here but I really love this app and I once saw someone who was somehow hosting a live map of their server, that could update in real time and show the player locations, all while using the Google Maps GUI. This seemed like a dream come true for anyone running a server. Is there any chance at all the developer of MCMap Live might consider someday working in the ability to host a live feed of a server world in a way similar to what I described? Making it simple for people running servers to host live, browser explorable maps, would of course be completely phenomenal. Although I'm pretty sure that would be outside the scope of what this developer probably wants to do (for free at least ;D) I figured I would mention it anyway.
i need some help downloading this.i do not know what to click to open this it keeps telling me to choose an application don't know what application to choose i don't know if i'm even on the right track i would really like some help i am not a genius with this stuff. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, seriously cut it out with the creepers and exclamation points. They are not helping.
Secondly, I have no idea what you are talking about. The program comes in a zip file. Extract the zip file and run the program. It's that easy. If your computer is asking you what program to use to open a zip file, something is broken in Mac OS X beyond what I can help with. It should just know to use Archive Utility.
You need at least Mac OS X v 10.5 (Leopard) to run MCMap Live.
Any chance for a 10.4 version? Some of us are stuck on Tiger :sad.gif:
That is a 6 year old operating system. I do not plan to support it at any point in time. MCMap live makes use of many features added to the operating system since. I cannot imagine a Mac running 10.4 will play Minecraft reasonably anyway.

I plan on implementing player locations and automatic updating of the map while the game is running. No web interface is planned. That's beyond the scope of this program. See Minetographer for something like that.
these are some features i think would be cool. what do you guys think?
- being able to see a top down view
- or a side view (to see at what height level certain blocks are)
- the save slice feature is cool, but it would be great if you could make horizontal slices/sections (when you are at a low level, then click on a high level you kind of see horizontal sections as its rendering each chunk)
- if the map is large, it would be helpfull to add some kind of marker in a location of the map you want to remember later
-also would be nice to have north to south view, east to west....
- an option to hide certain blocks, like hide all watter, or hide everything except for gold...
- when you find blocks, it would helo if you could use different colors. for example. if you search for gold and diamond, use yellow for gold, blue for diamond.
EDIT: how does that extract biome thing work?
and can the black background be changed?
Maybe there's a way to do this already, but is it possible to "hide" the underground stuff from display on the edges? I'm mostly interested in just seeing where I've been and getting a better sense of the lay of the land, not trying to "cheat" to find stuff, and don't want to see things by accident.
Anyways, very cool and thank you for making & supporting it!
Beta 1.3 breaks MCMap Live. An mcmap update is available but there are more changes than a simple drop in to make it work with Live. I am extraordinarily busy at the moment, so you can expect an update some time late next week.

MAC OSX SUCKS BIG, HAIRY, BALLS. JUST LIKE YOU NOW.
Mod edit: Warn issued for flaming.
Uh... this program is only available for Mac. So, your just flaming against everyone in this topic. Reported.

Also, what about an option to not render some blocks, imagine you dont want to see the torches in the map... or the dirt... could that be done?
