I finally updated AutoMap for Minecraft 1.8. Sorry it isn't 1.8.3; I don't get any choice in the matter because Minecraft Forge isn't available for 1.8.3. But you can play on 1.8.3 servers with a 1.8 client.
The static maps are not working correctly. I remember this was a problem back in 2013 but it's gotten even worse with 1.8. Basically when first starting MinecraftAM it polls the server and gets a full 256x256 meter map as you can see on the left side, but as I walk around, the static map never refreshes and only a small 40 x 40 (apprx.) window around the player updates. This is with a multiplayer server (which is where I really need it... if I was in singleplayer I could just use any of the off-the-shelf renderers).
I can see it trying to update in Options, as the Static Map countdown progresses to zero and then starts again, but the full window fails to refresh. I can't build a world map like this.
An example of this problem in the realtime map can be seen here:
The TGA static map in the /Map Data folder looks the same, like this:
It seems likely to me that your world is loading too slowly, as automap starts requesting map data when it is still far away. If this map data hasn't yet been loaded in Minecraft when automap requests it, it will remain blank/black and only the 4 nearest chunks will be updated continuously. Try the Reset Realtime Map hotkey, default I think is "X". This will cause automap to reload all cached block data.
This also might happen if your draw distance is set too low in Minecraft. If so, you could try tweaking the realtime map width in automap settings to be a closer match for your draw distance in-game.
Yes, I some time ago I built a version using an MCP beta, but not in Forge plugin format. I see that Forge is available for 1.9 now so maybe I can put something together this week for release.
Also, I do not intend to update Automap for Minecraft 1.10.
Aw, I'm sad to see this. I love this mod so much. Not really for the ore radar, all tho it's really nice. But for the other nice stuff like glowing path and npc tracker.
I wish you all the best and again.
Thanks

Have you tried Minecraft AutoMap?
I've downloaded Automap, but when I try to extract the textures it says it can't find them. The Forge I'm using is 1.8-Forge11.14.1.1397
Edit: nvm, just had to redirect to the vanilla version
Download links are not working at the MCAM website,
Thanks for letting me know! The server host had migrated my account to a new platform and failed to get the file permissions right. It is fixed now.

Any chance of a release for 1.9?

Sorry it took so long. I uploaded the update for 1.9 today. It uses Forge just like the last release.

The links are down again.
Sorry about that. I didn't get the forum notification again. Link fixed.
