You gonna update this to work with the new world format?
Supporting the new world format will take a major overhaul or even a complete re-write, I would think. Then again, I know almost nothing about this sort of thing, but I would imagine it's going to be a bit of work. Plus the new Anvil world format isn't even finalized yet as far as I know.

I noticed with some surprise that after updating to Mincraft 1.2 and upgrading a world, I can still load that world in Minutor. I was excited by this at first, but I think the Minutor map is not showing any changes since the update...I'm starting to think that the saved game just keeps around a copy of the map in the old format or something. Is that what is going on?

Yep, that's exactly what Minecraft does - it keeps the old files around in case you wanted to revert back to an older version. See the note at the end of this post.
I just have to say this is awesome program, have used it a long time, and I am cursing the Anvil. I hope it does not cause you too much headache. Looking forward to a compatabile Minutor, please dont give up. I offer much praise and appreciation to ease your discouragement.
Joining the chorus of thanks! Even if the anvil update doesn't happen, just wanted to let you know that you've made Minecraft just that much more awesome for my friends and I on our server over the last few months, and we really appreciate it.
I'm working on it. I'm also taking that opportunity to rotate the map to reflect NSEW correctly again.
Glad to hear both of these. It's been a wonderful program and I still strongly prefer it to what I've managed to find so far that deals with Anvil. MC_Xray is very crash prone, and overkill, at least for my needs. Maybe I'm just better at reading maps in 2D and translating in my head, but I find that 3D approach kind of unecessary. It will be great to not need to mentally rotate NSEW.
Great news! Hope it's not too overwhelming of a change to the code.
A nice person named Bradley Bell has submitted a patch to add anvil support to minutor.
I've already added his patch to the main repository. However, with his patch, the old format is no longer supported. I'm currently debating whether or not that's a problem.. I have a routine that converts between the two coordinate systems, but by god it is slow.
Also, I have moved the source repository to github. That should make it easier for people to issue pull requests, etc.

Is it really a big deal to support the old format (I presume you mean MC Region and earlier)? Wouldn't it be easier to just keep the current version of Minutor around for people who have old files and update the newest version to Anvil only? I can only see there being fewer and fewer old files around as time goes on.

That's the way I'm leaning. I won't be able to put out new binaries until tonight anyway, so I've given myself a day to think about it. There are also some minor bugs with the lighting, and the cave mode is totally borked right now. I'm looking into those right now.
Okay. 1.6 is now out. It *only* supports the Anvil format, so don't upgrade if you're not on minecraft 1.2. I fixed the bugs with lighting and cavemode, and the north in minutor matches north on the in-game maps.

Yes, very cool. Is it a big hassle? and.... will Minutor then support both old world formats and the new one?

Cool, I thought there was something fishy about the NS direction with regards to the sunrise :wink.gif:
May the force be without you.
Don't wait. I started working on the changes, but got pretty frustrated with it... it's going to be a while.

Thank you!
just have to get used to the correct orientation now.
also, the depth shading option seems a lot more darker than usual and lighting view doesnt seem to "illuminate" the way it did.
