I managed to compile a Window-only version that seems to work around the file-lock held by minecraft. I have put up the executable at http://xoft.cz/minutor . No more empty white rectangles, yay! :wink.gif:
The problem is that Minutor uses fopen_s() for opening files and the C runtime requests exclusive access to such a file.
I've rewritten region.c to use WinAPI functions that allow shared access to the file and it seems to work here (Win Vista 32-bit & WinXP 32-bit)
Can you send your modified region.c to me? I'll look at integrating it.
I just downloaded the latest version (1.0) and I am having a huge problem! I can open named maps that have a folder name like "World5" but I cannot open named maps that have a folder name like "Test". They show in the list of worlds to open but when I select them nothing happens. What should I do? Just rename them? I can't because I already have World1 through World5 taken up...
This is one of 2 mappers that will map my main world, and the only that will map the other. Great job!
Now, can you make it so we can zoom in, be ablr to look for specific ores and blocks, and maybe make it render 3D?
This worked great for me until 1.3 came out, now when I load my world I just get a completely white screen, but it still indicates the coordinates when I hover over this space. Can anyone help me out?
* Scaevolus's new caching system should speed things up
* Missing tiles now show checkerboard pattern
* Fixed a few block IDs
* Windows version should play nice with minecraft running.
Hopefully that last one really will fix the problem on Windows with maps appearing blank.
Great new version, runs nicely now, hardly any slow down.
Any chance of getting a keyboard shortcut for the slicing slider? Or is there one and I missed it? What I like to do is move around the map with the mouse, zooming in and out with the mouse wheel, but then when I want to slice, I have to click the slider, then use the mouse wheel, and if I click the map to move around, I have to click the slider again to slice. A way to either toggle the mouse wheel to zoom or slice and leave it there (since you can zoom with the keyboard pretty easily) or a key to switch quickly to slice, perhaps the Z key, then you can slice and move around fairly fast.
Just a thought, and thanks for the great program, it's helped me a lot in getting my portals so they all go where I want them to.

Really good tool, easy to use, clear, simple, fast... good work and thanks for sharing it !!
Exactly this, though I would call it a great tool. :smile.gif:
If you are going to enhance the map viewer, a usefull function would be, if one could highlight spots on the map, where certain blocks are, so one could see the length-width-coordinates of diamonds, moss-stones etc.
Another point, that is (in my opinion) improvable, are the shown coordinates. 0,0 seems to be something else than the spawn point, which would make more sense. Also, when wandering over the map with the cursor, a height information would be neat.
But those are just suggestions. The tool already does, what is has to do, flawlessly.
0,0 is the default attempted spawn point, but on many worlds it's not suitable (underwater, no sand, some other reason), and it will randomly jump through points in increments of 1-8,1-8 in any direction to find a suitable spawn point. Because of this, spawn points may not always be on the origin, but the origin is still the origin in-game and in Minutor.
One thing I would love is the ability to export an active map directly from Minutor instead of needing to futz around with the command line or stitching screen-captured segments together to generate an overhead map of my worlds.
case WM_CTLCOLORSTATIC: //color the label and the slider background
{
HDC hdcStatic=(HDC)wParam;
SetTextColor(hdcStatic,GetSysColor(COLOR_WINDOWTEXT));
SetBkColor(hdcStatic,GetSysColor(COLOR_WINDOW));
return (INT_PTR)CreateSolidBrush(GetSysColor(COLOR_WINDOW));
}
break;
The MS documentation at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 24(v=vs.85).aspx states that the app is responsible for destroying the brush returned for WM_CTLCOLORSTATIC.
I therefore suggest you create this brush at app startup, remember it in a global var and return that var everytime.
One thing I'd like to see would be way points or markers. Basiclly, click on the map and you can place a flag or icon or something there and give it a small label. It would then be even better when combined with Rikkubeauty's idea of Go To. Maybe a little dropdown where your labels were listed and selecting one brings you to that location.
Anyhow, thanks a lot for this app. Will now be my goto mapper.
Don't think it has died, just hasen't really needed much to be changed recently. Though mrkite did start playing Terraria and make a mapper like this for it too.

Also, is there like a "you are here" marker showing my current position? I can't find myself on the map...
Scroll In To Zoom, And Your Position Is In The Menu, It Has A Shortcut Key Too I Think.
I downloaded the .zip version. Is there a difference between that and the installed one?

when i attempt to open my world, the screen doenst display it, it just remains white. any reason why?
That doesnt work.

I've updated the source code and added them.. but haven't compiled new versions yet because it just didn't seem like a big enough change :smile.gif:
